I first noticed the issues on my 720s after the valet driver gave me back the keys. I noticed a slight rattle 😅 on the passenger rear side. The dealer told me this is sometimes an issue for some owners. Definitely annoying, but didn’t seem like a big issue. Then out of nowhere the check engine light popped. This was the final straw. But then, I woke up from my dream and realized I do not own a McLaren 😅. Proud Kia owner.

765LT looks dated but an Aventador does not? Come on man. I have never had anybody come up to me and tell me my 765 looks dated or boring or like every other McLaren. Everything else you said I agree with though. I have rattles in my Spider as well, nothing you can do about it, I have taken panels off to retorque down every bolt I could find, and I can't get rid of the buzzing. Had the same problem on my 600 LT. Crazy thing is the MP4-12C I used to have had zero rattles. Just everything else broke.
Agreed! This thing looks like a spaceship on wheels.
Try hitting the panel with your hand to make it vibrate to find the one that’s doing the rattling, I had the same issue. It could also be the brackets of the exhaust almost impossible to get to without taking half the car apart 🫠🥹

@@XennialGuy if you live in Florida we can find a solution 😀 I couldn’t bear that rattling noise, took me a while to find it. Mine was usually when rolling at high rpms
I had to take parts and drive around the block until I found which one it was 🥴
I like the 765LT more than your other cars... Amazing piece.
On my 720s the same rattling was because of the plate that goes under the passenger was a little bent down from doing maintenance and the solution was only bending it up so it was tight.
I put 7000 miles on my 720S and as time went on more rattles here and there. After 6000 miles my driver side window would crack open a bit once I hit 60 miles. I ended up selling it after that. Handling was great build quality not so much. Like you said it was quick and I felt much safer with the handling than I did in my Lambo.
Curious where the rattles were in yours? Was yours a coupe or spider? I hear people often talk about 720’s having rattles but my 2020 Spider has none, only thing I can think is sometimes depending on the bass of the music that’s being played I’ll get a minor door panel buzz or something like that but I consider rattles more like you encounter some rough pavement and things make noise, which I’ve had none of that.
@@jameswillard1 Yeah it was a spider, mine was also a 2020. Most rattles started in the doors and the the back behind the seats. The window cracking open once I hit 60 was the one that made me sell it before it got worse. I loved the car don’t get me wrong but I always feel like I have to get rid of those cars before I hit 10k miles and the dealer offered me a number I felt was fair before the market corrected itself. It’s been 4 months and they still have the car.
The guy again I am perplexed at said it handled better than a Lambo? Lambo, one time held the record at the green hell. How could you possibly say that MCLAREN had better handling lol.
@@robertlulek1634 I Gad a Huracán so my comparison is between a Huracan and a 720S so in my case the 720S out performers the Lambo by a mile
@@robertlulek1634 allow me to explain, a significant part of lap times can be achieved by fitting extremely aggressive tires to a car. For example a C7 Corvette Z06 had ridiculously fast lap when it was introduced and was often a lot faster around a track than say a Mclaren 650S but anyone who actually drove the 2 would say the Mclaren was the significantly better handling car. Mclaren fits its cars without very aggressive tires that are narrower than the competitors because it transmits more road feel back to the driver. So saying a car has better handling strictly based on lap times is ridiculous
by far the best 765lt spec I've ever seen
Any car making 600hp North... The car will vibrate... Vibration loosens things. Race cars continuously needs to be messaged. It is what comes with the territory of race car, exotic, = Pampering machine... If you can't pay for the pampering, a crew chief, and tip top maintenance leave it alone. If you want reliability get a Toyota.... This 765 McLaren is the business... A Beautiful Car that is poetry in motion, and an absolute weapon on the Track.. 💯
And how old is the Aventador..2011..and the Huracan..2014…both with bits of expensive body kits added over the years…
765 looks VERY different from a 720 or any other Mclaren. I think its one of the best looking exotics out right now, the aventador looks dated!
The successor to the 720 and 765 I guess is going to be similar but way better than both from what I understand yet to have a name

How different is the SVJ then? It's also an aventador with a body kit and the style has been around for a long time as well. I would the main difference is build quality - I don't think Mclaren is close enough to Lambo; but aesthetically, I don't see that the STO or SVJ look anymore "fresh" than the 765LT (and I've owned all 3)
I agree. Most people can't even tell the difference between an SVJ, an SV, or an S because they are literally the same car, just tweaked differently. In the case of Lamborghini they are honestly not that much faster between the sub models either. At least dynamically the 765LT is a completely different animal from the 720S and even sounds way better.

For the fellow that said that handling was better than the Lambo I've had both cars which I currently have a Lamborghini STO. I had a Lamborghini Performante, Spyder Lamborghini, super Valachi roadster, and I will tell you that it does not handle better than a Lamborghini McLaren has crappy brakes. They are spongy and you have to push them very hard. It does not handle any way as nearly as good as a Lamborghini in my opinion.

Agree, $500k to $700k is overpriced, and this thing will depreciate hard after the new Mclaren "S" series releases.

@@cdula26 check the price the 675lt, that is where the 765lt will be in 3-4 years. I am not a big Mclaren fan and this car is not worth $100,000/year depreciation to me lol.

Dude, you are basically in on a bare carbon tub, when you're sitting in a McLaren. Of course you are going to hear some rattling. You are going to hear and feel everything on the road.
So my really close friend owns an exotic car dealership. My other friend is a used car manager at an Acura dealership that has an exotic car department. Both friends say DO Not buy a Mclaren. Says alot coming from them
Why does the UK always produce poor build quality cars? Jaguar, Aston Martin, McLaren. I have only ever owned Ferrari and Lamborghini for this reason

People are going to be left holding a lot of inequity on this car. They are not gonna get that money back McLarens depreciate historically I don't care what the market is right now. This car is definitely not worth this kind of money.
I would never and I mean never pay that kind of money that they are asking for 765. I owned three 720 S vehicles prior. I like the speed of the car and I did enjoy the car but it is built like crap lots of little things, body panels coming apart electronics handles dropping off the car it's built like shit it's not worth nearly $1 million with they're asking for people are gonna be stuck with a boatload of debt on this car.
Lovely car, but it's time to sell it.
