    It's best to NOT kick a older 2 stroke over AT ALL until you can pull the plugs and kick it over. Rags over the plug holes of course. And another point, you can NOT remove enough oil by kicking it over with your leg. As in the vid, you NEED to suction the oil out!

    Great job Pete! I love using old household pumps. Shampoo bottle pumps work well too on bigger jobs. You should do a how to rebuild the pump video.

      Thanks so much! I'm a big fan of your channel so that really means a lot. The oil pump video is a good idea, thanks. I'm sure there's an old pump laying around here somewhere

      @@PetesClassicCycle I'm rebuilding the Tracy body H1 in the latest video (middle cylinder seized). Oil pump tested ok, but I should make sure and rebuild it.
      Also, doing a frame-up resto on a 1970 H1 and want to do the oil pump on that one too. Love your channel!

    Wish I would have found this video before I tried to start my H1 last spring. Bent center rod. Got the motor broke down and crank sent out for rebuild. I will put in a valve to shut off oil supply from tank so this doesn't happen again.

      Oh man, Unfortunately that's such a common story with these. Just DON"T forget to turn the oil on before riding with that valve.

      Good question..I get that probably once a year on the hottest days. I'm not 100% sure what causes it to be honest. Is it a regular thing?

    Pete thanks info was great hydraulic mine about 5 years ago come to kick it over again and it was the same must have had 150ml each cylinder is there any way of stopped the check valves from dripping 👍

      If you have the oil lines with removable check valves you can replace the ball&spring. There are guys who sell rebuild kits. Other than that you can install a valve on the oil line coming from the tank to stop flow while parked...BUT DO NOT FORGET TO TURN IT ON WHEN YOU START THE BIKE

    What happens if I can’t get every last drop? I tried this method and want to make sure that it is okay if there’s a little in there

      You'll hit a point where you'll obviously be left with some residual oil left. I try check it multiple times to ensure that I've gotten the suction tube down all the way. When you pull it out and all that's left is a tiny bit left on the very tip that's probably all you can suck out. At that point I'll pull the plugs and kick it over multiple times another safety check to try and cycle any extra oil through. Then start it up. It'll smoke quite a bit for the 1st while as you burn up all the access oil

    Would this be the same situation for the a7 avenger 350 1971?

      It's possible, although I am not familiar with their injection system

    How can you find a new check valve?

    • @PetesClassicCycle
      @PetesClassicCycle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on your style they can be rebuilt. OR you can build your own lines using over the counter parts. Yamaha sells a really nice inline check valve that does the trick

      I have a 75 Kawasaki mc1A. I ordered what supposed to be a banjo style check valve like what is on it. Hopefully I don’t get ripped off.
