Go slow while doing it because I have never seen them to bend valves. They bend or break the rockers under the camshaft and twist the lobes on the camshaft itself. It could turn into a very fast job, remove the cam box & do a leak down test on the cylinder if needed but you should be able to see the valve tops all at the same height if they are good. Uneven is bad or you have bent valves. And be careful with the camshaft. Hopefully this will help & let me know how you get on 🤔🙏🙏👍
Young cubs yoke is doing exact same thing holding pressure when cold, overheating quicky and done a block test and theres combustion gasses in coolant,will have a go at it when i have a min with head gaskets just never to sure as could be a few things but good upload
All in a days work Kevin 🤪 it was as dirty a hell though. I didn’t check timing marks before disassembly but it must have jumped a tooth or so due to the marks on the pistons. How it was still running I don’t know 🤷🏼♂️😉

@@kevinpalmer7452 it was a wheel chair taxi & it takes a bit to be changing them ( taxi plates & suitability test etc.) so it is easier to just keep them going
After a bit you can smell when the gaskets gone on the french stuff - they get that sickly sweet smell inside the cabin .. They love gacking their water, leaking & burning their oil & generally getting smothered in black crud. Thankfully, I'm usually only welding the sills or jacking points - I don't much go near the twirly bits.. but I used to - and I can smell that yoke from here. :-)
Excellent video. technical question for you about head bolts. Do you grease bottom and under the bolt head? I know they are stretch bolts but i watching some Spanish video on tdci engine , think they make gaskets and he put some crease at the bottom of the bolt and undet the bolt head.

Fill the reservoir & start the engine from cold, then watch for bubbles 🤔🤔 When hot checking both radiator hose temperatures will indicate thermostat condition 😉👍👍
Got oil in water and losing water. No over heating no milky in oil no white smoke out of exhaust done the test in water went green. So head Gasket ? . Also do the injectors come out when the head is removed. Thanks.
Head gaskets fail in many different ways and don’t necessarily have to mix oil and water. Once the test fluid turns green it is most likely gone. Yes the injectors need to be removed 😉👍👍
My boy has a seat leon which has a misfire on all 4 cylinders so I suspect it's the head gasket so I'm thinking of buying a tester so would you recommend the one you used or would you recommend the cheaper one's which comes with the radiator adapters. With the type you used does it have to be used on the expansion bottle or if the car has a radiator cap and expansion bottle which one does the tester need to be used on.
My first thought is what makes you think it’s a head gasket issue?? Is it petrol or diesel?? If diesel the injectors give huge problems. If petrol take a look at the fuel trim numbers first, both long term & short term shouldn’t be more than 10
@@kennedysgarage3281 Thank you for replying. It's a petrol. When I smelled the antifreeze it smelled a bit like fumes (If you know what I mean). I think when I took off the oil cap I think it had slight pressure blowing out. I don't know if this is normal but the expansion bottle keeps filling through the overflow hose
@@hardworker8030 I suppose you have to go with your gut feeling. Next step is to get a head gasket tester as you first said, I would probably get the more expensive one as you get what you pay for. Leave the coolant level a bit lower when doing the test, the tester operates on steam with carbon monoxide in it if it’s gone. Let me know how you get on 👍

I wanted to prove a head gasket failure recently & put pressure tester on cooling system overnight, removed glow plugs and sent in a borascope the next morning. To find slight quantity of water / coolant on a piston top 😬😬 Good luck with it 🤞🤞👍
@Tacky Stump no one wants to be covered in dirt and the pay in this trade is very small in cross comparison to other trade like electricians. Also so many things to go wrong on a big job like a head gasket. But well done on finding a garage to do the job and fingers crossed it will all go to plan 🤞🤞🙏🙏

It could take around 10 to 12 hours, not the easiest job in the world but well and truly doable 😉👍👍

@Fatty Panter watch out because the head gasket failure is more than likely caused by something else failing first, like a thermostat or water leak 🤔🤔
