I love red dial watches and always was a fan of this dial on the limited edition. Glad they brought it back for mass consumption. The new SBGA493 (of course limited edition) is another sharp red dial. It's with the Mt. Iwate pattern and is reminiscent of red sparks. Plus its spring drive and my favorite case, the 44GS. That one is on the wish list.
It's not the Iwate pattern, it's the same dial pattern as the Thailand Limited Edition SBGY025 (100 pieces only and still available long after its launch). IMO by far the ugliest pattern they make. Admittedly, it's a bit similar to the Iwate. That Katana LE is also not that hard to find, saw one the other day in Bangkok up for sale.
Beautiful piece and thanks for your thorough review as always!! The thickness was the deciding point for me in choosing the SBGA413 aka ShunBun vs this one. I absolutely adore the ShunBun and am now a GS lover!! GS is next level in terms of dial work, movements, and their finishing.
I have a Shosho dial of this watch. Gotta say though the pattern on this one is way more basis, the red really stood out and increase the contrast. Therefore it is much easier to tell the time comparing to the Shosho dial, which is too reflective
Looks great in the screen, guess it’s even more beautiful in RL. Also: I’m wondering how it would look on a burgundy leather strap. I mean: it already has dress watch WR of just 30m and it’s very elegant, why not dress it up even more?
They have so nice dials. In general why do manufacturer always overload the dial with text like "Automatic", Hi Beat, Chronometer, WR Xy meter etc. They should just print it on the back case if. Keep the dial clean just with the manufacturer logo.
I like it. Rather see it in a GS44 case with a screw down crown. I know it would compete with the Peacock and the Urban Bamboo but I don't care. Also, Bruce, Pretty close to 49ers colors there!
Hey Bruce, thanks for the high-quality video! Does this watch or any other Grand Seiko offer any sort of microadjustment on the strap? It seems like JLC, IWC and Tudor's newest steel bracelets set a high bar for on-the-fly microadjustments. I'm thinking about going with a Breitling SuperOcean 42 (yes, with an ETA movement, lol) because of its looks, its slim 12 mm case and its bracelet's microadjustment feature. I wish the Breitling SuperOcean Heritage 42 with the Kinessi movement had a slimmer case, lol.
Lovely dial and watch but I'm sure the people who bought the LE with the same dial are not too happy. Pointless making an LE with special dial and then using the same dial on another watch.
I say who cares if what you wear doesn't match your watch! Formal wear ok - I get it. But when I see a dude with perfectly matched shoes - soxs- shorts & t-shirt, with a ball cap------ I think dork!
@@BruceWilliams Didn't mean offense, BW. Love your channel. And I just purchased this watch. It is gorgeous. But a "line" is the shortest distance between two points; a curved "line" is an "arc"; and the hyper-technical term for a free form line is "scribble". 😉

Absolutely stunning watch.. also love how you covered it amazingly best wishes for you man

I would love to see that one in person. I thought it was boutique only, but a couple regualt ads seem to have gotten stock which is nice

Red dials are amazing! fantastic detail and amazing luxury watch overall!!!
Tried this beauty on at the AD yesterday. It is a stunning watch; all I have to say is I want one.
I just got my Yuka Momiji 5 days ago. The red dial is crazy gorgeous.
This GS has a beautiful dial.
This watch is indeed 'exquisite.' Love red dials. I don't understand why they are not more popular.
This watch is great for Christmas !!!
I thought a watch to wear to a San Francisco 49ers game haha
Beautiful watch, I love the red dial 😍
I already see Kevin O’Leary going nuts over this watch 😂
when I saw this particular piece for the first time I came up with the same idea :D
I bought it. It's crazily beautiful.
GS nailed it. Let rolex boys wait their watches for years :D
love Grand Seiko
Looks like wood to me, maby mahogany planks. Very attractive

Just got 1, this is a special
Check out the GS SBGW287! It's the red version of the 231. I have it and absolutely love. Such a great burgundy/wine red
Why did they use the same dial as their limited edition watch?
Hola cómo estás q hermoso reloj te felicito saludos desde Bogotá de su amigo José lubo
Stunning watch, the finishing is immaculate something about these pieces just suit a leather strap rather than a bracelet.
This on burgundy alligator would be really fun
@@BruceWilliams must be nice to be able to wear other straps, I have bitch wrists so I have to stick to bracelets
I think I will have to swap my GS SBGJ269 Pink Flannet (Hi-Beat) Pink Flannel.
Beautiful dial!
To me it kinda creates the effect of a red wooden floor!! 😮😀
I'm glad you see it!
I can’t compare, i don’t have a red floor 😎
That's only reason I like tbh

Sadly I think it's just traditon. Few brands don't mind going for aethetics over traditon
That would look good with dark red leather band.
nice colors, hate the 14mm thickness! Microbrands are doing better on this end.
Wowwwwww❤❤❤
Kevin O leary will cry after seeing this red dial watch….
Then proceed stick a red band on it and wear on Shark tank.
Let em know you about it, without let'n em know. 🔺

Maybe why I like it so much haha

No this just has a push button deloyant clasp, and the bracelet will have half links
@@BruceWilliams thanks dude!
Grand seiko red dial anything sign me up

Bro that will be my daily driver. It’s a grand Seiko!!
The bracelet throws it off in my opinion. I think it would look better on a leather strap.

The height should have been at least 12 and this would have been a killer!!!
Grand Seiko makes the best dials. Looks awesome. Their inspiration stories are kinda lame though.
sbgh269 better
". . linear lines"? "Parallel" lines, maybe? Nevertheless, agree -- the dial is a stunner!
A line can be linear, curved, or free form :)
