I started using the California bander on mine, no moving parts and it fits everything from new born to full grown. Simple little device, there are videos on it.
Great video I have seen that done many times I work on West Virginia university animal science farm in Morgantown West Virginia I am the caretaker of there beef heard. Hope all is well and have a great day.
That gave me the chills just watching. So ya gonna give up the cattle bizz I hear. Don't blame ya! Time to start thinking about the easy life and do away with major chores. LOL.
I just bought a bull calf angus 7 months old. What size bander did you use and where did you find it. Thank you so much for showing us the video. I was going to call a vet.
Lol Rob the rooster carries on like that too. Rob thinks he is a dog though lol. When Rick pulls into the drive he and Red take off running to the truck to meet Rick and if I am outside Rob is right at my feet.
I've never used those bands. Daddy didn't trust bands. There was only one way. Takes two of to do that job, a tail twister and a cutter. The calves was always bigger than they sould've been making it a hard day's work. We had "nuts" for breakfast next morning with our purple stained hands. Waste not, want not. City folk calls 'em "mountain oysters".
Great work by a man with a plan.

Poor little fellers have no idea, I think your 1 take is just fine, Thanks Okie. 👍😎

I bet you have had lots of experience .
That first bull didn’t even flinch. Wow.
When I had beef cattle, I always knife castrated.
Never a problem when the count of testicles in the straw is 2x the number of cattle done.
He didn’t mind the banding but that shot!
that's one HELL of a large drone ….. Im thinking Honey BBQ lol
I use the Callicrate bander, I’ve banded some good sized ones. I have had a couple screws ups with it stags
I haven't had any failures with this but I have with the little green o rings.
Are you pulling up a tent on the front shoulder to give the shot in?
Yes, usually I go right where the neck meets the shoulder. Pull some skin up and inject it under it but not in the muscle
They ever get that kick high enough to clear the side walls and kick you?
not really able to with the side is squeezed in a bit
If you listen carefully you can hear them calves say Moo-Two when you grabbed their nuts and slipped the bands on them.
That gave me the chills just watching. So ya gonna give up the cattle bizz I hear. Don't blame ya! Time to start thinking about the easy life and do away with major chores. LOL.
It gives me the chills too. I feel like I have betrayed them

the brand is in the description, I have had it for a long time and bought it at our pharmacy.you can probably find it online.

Thats much easier than I was thinking it would be.
Having the right gear makes a big difference. I won't band one in the summer months due to flies and risk of maggots.
@@OkieRob Oh I didn't even think of that. We're going to band any goat bucklings we have this year so I'll be sure to wait for cooler weather.
@@rustictraditionshomestead there are sprays to use to keep the flies and infections down. I just prefer to do it when flies are not a problem.
What is difference between banding or not please sir?
I think it's going to be easier to band my little buckling. 😉
At least there is a breeze to keep the sweat off ya!😁
I think the calves were the only ones sweating.
ONce you start branding, you're officially a rancher.
I've still got my Grandpa's branding irons.
Is'nt in effect on wheight gain negatively?
The reason for castration is when you have it butchered. The fat content will be better.
Ouch! Don't make your wife mad, you may wake up banded, Lol.
I keep those tools hid
Howdy stopped in to see what your up to? Wendy❤️🐞
Oh a little bit of this and a little bit of that. LoL
@@OkieRob are you ready for the Winter mess?
@@hardnackfarms1736 well it rained all night so it's a muddy mess already. Might as well throw some sleet, snow and ice in there for good measure
@@OkieRob yep might as well! Geeze
Are you going out pf the cattle business? I thought you did have several cows.
Yes, after 20 years I'm tired of messing with them.

Yea, I have been in on that way with no head shoot. One guy on the front leg and neck other guy on the back legs and one guy cutting.
Good
Are you still doing cows?
Nope took the last 2 steers to the butcher in October. Just going to sell the hay in the field.
You in okla I suppose? Are you selling any of your tools of trade?
no I'm not selling and of my tools
I was wondering what is the brand chute that you are using?
Powder river
😁✌👍🖖👌😎
CALF???? Yearling is more like it
They are still less than a year old.
looks awkward to use
Not at all. Works great.
The first bull didn't mind you messing with his balls, but he sure didn't like the poke in the shoulder.
Yea, I should have took a little time to get him ready
