I replaced the handles with new ones. However , My handle is a bit loose / wobbly . Can it be the rod size or rod width issue ? Original handles looked exactly like the old ones you replaced. The 2 screws at the base of the handle are tightly screwed in . Thanks
@@n1npo Hello, is it wobbling where the base plate meets the window frame? If so, usually the screws that hold it firmly against the window frame are loose/ not tight enough or the screws might not be long or wide enough for the thread. In that case you could try new screws in the frame. Also check if the spindle is too long, as it may prevent the baseplate from tightening against the frame properly even if the screws are tight . Hope this helps 👍🏼
Hello, I’ve not had much experience with pop rivet style handles. You can remove pop rivets using a few different methods (using either a pop rivet removal tool, drill bit, rotary tool, or flush cutting snips etc). Choose the method depending on access, type of rivet head, and least amount of damage. Plenty TH-cam videos on pop rivet removal. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help. 👍🏼
Tried to change the handles on some of our windows, the handle came off, but the spindle is stuck in the mechanism, any ideas on how to get them out? Thanks
Hello. Either a strong magnet (like a telescopic magnetic retriever), or needle nose pliers usually does the trick. In terms of the former, make sure the head of the telescopic retriever is small enough to fit the hole. Hope that this helps. 👍🏼
Could i replace the handle while the window is in a closed position? The thing is my window hinges aren't operating well and i open, it rolled all the way back making it hard to reach and work on. Thanks so much.
@@vikmnatsakanyan Hello Vik, ideally you should change it whilst the handle is in open position because one of the two screws is usually inaccessible when the handle is closed. However, you could try opening the handle partially, remove the single screw that is covered (when handle is closed), close the handle again fully and remove the remaining screw (whilst window is closed), then reverse the process (fit handle close with one screw, partially open, fit other screw close). Hope that makes sense. 👍🏼
@makeitwork-propertydiy10 thanks very much, that's very helpful. Because the handle with the spindle part has broken and coming off anyway, the screws are accessible. Waiting for delivery of the handle to attempt to replace it while the window is in closed position.
@makeitwork-propertydiy10 would be wonderful if you could make a video on how to fix loose hinges on window. Mine slides open all the way back on a top hanging window. Thank you!
Yes Vik, I’m planning more videos on window fixes soon. I’ll try to include one. Quite a few good videos out there on TH-cam already about replacing the hinges if you have a quick search. Best wishes 👍🏼
Came here to see if this looks like a job I can manage myself. It does! I’m going to order a new handle today.
It’s straight forward enough Julie - good luck with the project 👍🏼😊

My aluminum window kitchen & bedrooms have pop rivets rather than screws the types youd see on hinges.😭.
Ever encounter these?
