I use biodegradable plastic bags. We go camping yearly and usually primitive camping. This does help a lot instead of using the provided porti potty :)
Just bought one for truck cap camping. Almost bought the Hassock toilet which seems more popular but this is square and will fit better. Is it strong enough to use as a stool with the lid down?
Cat litter has no odor. Since my cabin is small, so the litter is my first choice. If you are going to make compost then go with sawdust, but since the container is very small, I am pretty sure there will be smell.
Hypergauge How often do you change it, doesn't it end up smelling like a litter box? Not going to compost. Just need something temporary until plumbing is put in.
We are using unscented litter so there is no odor. We did take it to camping once. Two women, two kids and me for two nights no smell. But we have not try doing major business with it. Frankly I will not recommend it if that is your only option for a period of time. The container is relatively small, you will likely need to empty it every day.

..scented works great for me, not offending or overpowering..I use the Tidycats..cheap at Walmart and clumps so well there is no odor..
