Just bought an ambulance. I'm a carpenter, and, had planned to build a similar bed. I like the idea of the 3/16" bar stock. I was a bit stuck, trying to fire out a way to do the same thing, with wood. I couldn't think of anything that was up to my standards, without being overly complicated.
Great job. Thanks for showing us the details around building this type of bed. I've seen many people make this type of bed, but they do not show the details. Cheers
Great video, THANK YOU!!! I'm going to use this exact design for mine when I'm solo and there will be another hinge on top for when a bigger bed is required that will flip out and then we will able to lay with our feet down there looking out the box and door windows. I think I can find a mattress that won't be affected by a half inch difference in the base for solo mode. Thanks again...from Northern Vermont!
I'm doing the same thing with my ambulance this video is very helpful keep up the filming you are helping builders everywhere alot. Please do an in depth video on the wiring like how to trace the wires, wire switches everything about wiring i know a bit but looking at the panel in mine got me lost how do i redo the wires from the big panel and get rid of what I don't need. Any videoes you can recommend. Looking forward to your upcoming videos good luck on the build I hope you document it all.
Thank you! We started this project in November, and have quite a few videos out on it, and wiring will be coming soon! We are not going the typical route, but one I strongly would suggest for ambo owners. Next video coming out will be beginning the electrical
I can't wait already started making the bed. Trying to figure out where I'm going to put the Diesel heater and 400ah of lithium batteries. I'm thinking under the bed cause there's a lot of room under there but then the problem of where to run wires
This past week we finished up initial mock ups of the diesel heater system and will be showing that very soon as well as electrical! We are doing a whole separate electrical system than the original ambo that is very simple and I hope that will help you. Look for those videos in the coming weeks here as the weather breaks!
Great video. I've done this exact design in my fishing shack/tiny home. I Have to take apart the movable slats though as they are way to tight sliding back into couch mode. I think I will do like you and put a 45 on the end to help it to start to go to the home position
Awesome video and super smart design! Small idea for improvement for your videos? Maybe invest in an external microphone? I don't know if you already use one but the audio inside the van is a bit weird, which is only natural of course, given it's a small space. Keep the videos coming! :D
Thank you Syb! I do have a Rhode directionally external mic on there, there ambulance is just full gutted right now and very echo-y... that will be changing soon! It does sound a bit weird because the voice overs are done in an insulated box which sounds amazing
Wish you could have been a little bit more demonstrative with the steps of construction. Some of us bozos out here are a little slow on the up take, but it is a great looking bed platform.
Can you tell me what type screws you used for the frame and the slats? I'm going to start making this exact bed this week and you have made it look easy! Do you poly the boards at all to seal them and stop from getting splinters?
Great video! We are in the planning stage, but this is what we would like to build now. A friend is a carpenter; thus, has the tools and space to work on project. Thank-you for the pertinent details. 📏📐🔨
Kiddo you're going to be great at whatever you do. Keep em coming please. Thank you for your spin.
You should watch this guy Josh Oakes Building A Floating Bed For A Camper Van. Guy's work is pretty sick. Anyways. You're awesome. Be well.
One of the best slide out beds I have seen built. Thank you for sharing. I will be making this for my van.
my friend, you are an engineer in the making!
oh look! I liked my own comment !

Very thorough video. You're a great teacher.
Well done dude...I am making this and I'm finding it quite complicated...lifting and sliding and storage...You did well.
You have some skills my friend 👍 great video, thank you
very good job here. what i really like is the storage space underneath. that is a very efficient use of space!
Nicely done! Its what I'm looking to do for mine but I have no tools or carpentry skills so kudos to you!
Very nicely thought out bed design. Simple and highly functional.
Thank you! That was exactly the goal!
Great job. Thanks for showing us the details around building this type of bed. I've seen many people make this type of bed, but they do not show the details. Cheers
Well done! I like the design you came up with, good looking and functional.
You got my attention when that to hinged up.
Brilliant! Great job dude, cheers

Well thought out design, and easy to understand build details. Thank you 🙂
Sketch up is great. Awesome job dude, appreciate the vid.
Absolutely! I will be incorporating more sketch up drawings in future videos as it helps viewers visualize what we are doing!
Beautiful work!!!…❤️😊👍
Great Campervan Content
Excellent job!
Nice design
Tight bond wood glue! Nice build looks identical to the one in my van lol
Nice video !
Nicely done!
Super gut!!
Can you slide out the bed while the hinges lifted up to avoid scratching the floor?
Excellent! Exactly what I was looking for, and well presented!
thanks!! very good job!
Great video.... Thanks!
Just subscribed. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the sub!
Try a chisel for those hinges next time.

Perfect. Thanks
I liked it😁
Now if I could only get you to come build me one I would be on the road much sooner

We are based out of western Massachusetts!
awesome-- except weight matters in vehicles
Thx
I wonder if ordering trundle and bunk bed frames could cut down on time and pre meased wood
Great job!! Did you by chance post the Sketchup design anywhere?

Do you have a list of supplies? And plans? I too am building a Campbulance and just about done. Just need Trim and the bed.
WOWW...THNKS
i love the OCD!
Awesome work can you also accept orders? Just for my personal van 😀
Is there anyway to share the sketch up plans
Please send us an email and we can get that to you! smallspacedesignco@gmail.com
Do you have material list and cut list?
Do you have a link to your plans for this bed build? I like to buy some from you!
do you have drawings for it by any chance?
Awesome. Where are you located? Do you sell them?

This is a great build! Do you have the plans somewhere?
Where can I get the plans for this?
👍👍🤘🤘
When you buy this wood, the shelves also have the dressed sizes. Those are more useful to the rest of the world.
Wish you could have been a little bit more demonstrative with the steps of construction. Some of us bozos out here are a little slow on the up take, but it is a great looking bed platform.
Twin XL is 80 inches

Single bed
RUS. Классно сделано . Вот хочу себе в UAZ BUHANKA сделать.
Hope you sage this vehicle - lots of bad things happen in ambulances. 😢
Informative video, but please be careful with that Blair Witch speed-up parts which are hard on the eyes! Thanks!
Millimeter, I thought this was America!
Slat bed is not for anyone. I dont like slat bed. It will be desuetude
Yet another bed video with overly annoying music 👎👎👎
