I think you're talking about just kind of like what kids do: like roleplaying with dolls (or hands work, too! In my case, I drew stick-figures on cardboard squares and pretended they were dolls). I've been roleplaying using sentences learned in the Genki 1 book. Thank goodness I live alone, so I can do this privately and have fun! Although, my Japanese is still terrible, so I can't make the "dolls" say too much to each other. And each doll character has "memory problems," which gives me an excuse to make them ask the same questions to each other, each day: What is your name? What grade are you in? How old are you? etc.

It's funny to see Rosetta Stone's still a thing! I bought it for just a few Euro more than 20 years ago while I was still at highschool. It was my first attempt to learn Japanese and it was really helpful to get a first impression on how the language works. Thanks for this video. I understood much of what you said. My problem is that I try learning so many new vocabulary, then don't use it at all and forget it. I will try to start putting your tips into practice. Also, I noticed that after I started watching your videos I learned a lot of new words because I can see them used in context. So, rather than memorizing the word mechanically, the word comes out by remembering the context. This video was super useful!! Thank you!!

I started with Rosetta Stone. The expectation was that if I did all three levels, I would be fluent. But in reality, by the time I finished all three levels, I was a beginner and had just enough foundation to jump into TH-cam and other resources such as your channel. If fluency is 100%, I would say Rosetta gets you to 3%. I know that sounds critical, but that is such an important foundation and it is a great place to start! I would say if you're a beginner try Rosetta but know going into it that you will be nowhere near fluent, but it's an intuitive way to start your language journey and it's up to you after you finish it to go all the way and strive for fluency. Anyway, glad you got another sponsorship! You're a great channel for their demographic.
I understood all of what you said in this video, so I think I've already a good vocabulary 🤣 like B1 level or (JLPT - N3) I'm really proud of this, because I just studied a bit of Japanese grammar and I've learned the rest of words and other things just watching anime and so on. @@kusonahfohtung673 I'm Italian too and I'm studying Japanese. I know English, Italian, I can understand (but not speak or write) French and Spanish. Japanese grammar is not complicated than Italian one, but in my opinion, there are too polite in verbal forms. So it's a little complicated in that way. The subject is often "hidden" cuz Japanese is a language based on the contest you are. That's why Google translate won't be able to translate well this language. Cuz Google translates from English to Japanese word by word, and it doesn't care about the contest. Btw, it's useful to translate verbs or words you don't remember. And please, if you wanna improve your Japanese there are so many apps on Play Store and App Store, you wouldn't know which to use lol. In the end, I recommend you, when you type or talk in Japanese, DON'T USE CONTINUALLY 私（watashi）or あなた（anata）cuz it sounds very unnatural for a Japanese native.
My current Japanese level is such that this video doubled as good listening practice. I didn't need subtitles, but I had to pause and replay a few sentences to make sure I understood each word. I also had to look up 意識して（いしきして）and, weirdly, 訳す（やくす）. I say "weirdly" because I've known the meaning of that word when I see it written for a long while now, but I guess I haven't heard it spoken enough yet. Thank you for the tips.
You forgot the most important part: 3. Have a native check your sentences 4. Consciously use the vocab in your notebook Bonus: Talk to yourself using the vocabulary or imagine situations and conversations (hand puppets optional but highly recommended)
I do love Rosetta STone, I am using it now to learn Japanese anb used it 20 years ago to learn Thai. I am also using Miku lessons to diversify my learning.
I'm using iknowjp and it's amazing for learning vocab and kanji. It has 6000 built in words and it uses algorithms to teach you the words. If you master all 6000 words you should be able to have pretty decent conversations in japanese. It also makes takaling grammar books so much easier.

For japanese even more difficult then remembering words is to remember the kanjji and remember how it is pronounced without looking at it and directly translate it without remembering the japanese reading

I don’t speak French but I can understand some of it, and I also learned Chinese before studying Japanese. It’s always exciting for me to learn languages.
I used Rosetta Stone in the past. I found it very difficult to learn from first. However, when used with other apps, it became much more manageable. It felt too advanced for me as a beginner. My subscription expired before I got the hang of how to make it work (subscription was only for 2 years at that time). Maybe I will give Rosetta Stone another try. I just think they should offer a discount to people who formerly had the 2-year subscriptions, now that they have made it a lifetime subscription.

"Mi piacerebbe migliorare il mio Italiano pian piano" is just perfect! ;-) You've chosen a difficult language but "non mollare" (don't give up!) Write back if you need some advice! There is a minor error in the Italian part, but you are doing very well. It's simply that the word "tutti" means "everybody" so the verb in the next sentence should be plural but you are using "stai" (2nd person singular), just change it in "Ciao a tutti, come _state_?" and it's correct. :) Sono sicuro che imparerai velocemente. Proverò a fare lo stesso con il giapponese, ma avrò bisogno di più tempo. (I am sure you will learn quickly. I will try to do the same with Japanese, but I will need more time.)

Love your videos, Miku. I have been using an English-Japanese dictionary for vocab improvement, but this is difficult because the dictionary lists 2 or 3 Japanese words in translation. Wish you could make a video distinguishing the spoken word from the written/formal one.
When I practice my Japanese I tried to to talk as much as I can and my mom thinks that I'm getting crazy for just studying 6 hours per day 😩👆, I mean, if it makes you happy is good but isn't necessary to worry about it :)

I think you're talking about just kind of like what kids do: like roleplaying with dolls (or hands work, too! In my case, I drew stick-figures on cardboard squares and pretended they were dolls). I've been roleplaying using sentences learned in the Genki 1 book. Thank goodness I live alone, so I can do this privately and have fun! Although, my Japanese is still terrible, so I can't make the "dolls" say too much to each other. And each doll character has "memory problems," which gives me an excuse to make them ask the same questions to each other, each day: What is your name? What grade are you in? How old are you? etc.

Trying to write sentences is a new challenge for me. If someone Trying to write sentences is a new challenge for me, so... If someone find mistakes in my ⬆️ sentences, I'd be very glad.
I started with Rosetta Stone. The expectation was that if I did all three levels, I would be fluent. But in reality, by the time I finished all three levels, I was a beginner and had just enough foundation to jump into TH-cam and other resources such as your channel. If fluency is 100%, I would say Rosetta gets you to 3%. I know that sounds critical, but that is such an important foundation and it is a great place to start! I would say if you're a beginner try Rosetta but know going into it that you will be nowhere near fluent, but it's an intuitive way to start your language journey and it's up to you after you finish it to go all the way and strive for fluency.

@@kusonahfohtung673 I'm Italian too and I'm studying Japanese. I know English, Italian, I can understand (but not speak or write) French and Spanish. Japanese grammar is not complicated than Italian one, but in my opinion, there are too polite in verbal forms. So it's a little complicated in that way. The subject is often "hidden" cuz Japanese is a language based on the contest you are. That's why Google translate won't be able to translate well this language. Cuz Google translates from English to Japanese word by word, and it doesn't care about the contest. Btw, it's useful to translate verbs or words you don't remember. And please, if you wanna improve your Japanese there are so many apps on Play Store and App Store, you wouldn't know which to use lol. In the end, I recommend you, when you type or talk in Japanese, DON'T USE CONTINUALLY 私（watashi）or あなた（anata）cuz it sounds very unnatural for a Japanese native.
My current Japanese level is such that this video doubled as good listening practice. I didn't need subtitles, but I had to pause and replay a few sentences to make sure I understood each word. I also had to look up 意識して（いしきして）and, weirdly, 訳す（やくす）. I say "weirdly" because I've known the meaning of that word when I see it written for a long while now, but I guess I haven't heard it spoken enough yet. Thank you for the tips.

I'm using iknowjp and it's amazing for learning vocab and kanji. It has 6000 built in words and it uses algorithms to teach you the words. If you master all 6000 words you should be able to have pretty decent conversations in japanese. It also makes takaling grammar books so much easier.

For japanese even more difficult then remembering words is to remember the kanjji and remember how it is pronounced without looking at it and directly translate it without remembering the japanese reading

I used Rosetta Stone in the past. I found it very difficult to learn from first. However, when used with other apps, it became much more manageable. It felt too advanced for me as a beginner. My subscription expired before I got the hang of how to make it work (subscription was only for 2 years at that time). Maybe I will give Rosetta Stone another try. I just think they should offer a discount to people who formerly had the 2-year subscriptions, now that they have made it a lifetime subscription.

Two small corrections (due piccole correzioni):
1) Come stai? ---> Come state? (2nd person plural - "voi". Be careful that in Italian the final part of the verb changes with every personal pronoun; "stai" is for "tu" = "you - single person", "state" is for "voi" = "you - group or couple of people").
2) "Sto studiando Italiano e mi piace molto studiare Italiano" (the meaning is clear but to sound more fluent you could say "Sto studiando Italiano e mi sta piacendo molto" (saying "Italiano" twice in a single phrase can sound repetitive) or "Sto studiando Italiano; mi piace molto (studiarlo)!"
"Mi piacerebbe migliorare il mio Italiano pian piano" is just perfect! ;-)
You've chosen a difficult language but "non mollare" (don't give up!)

There is a minor error in the Italian part, but you are doing very well. It's simply that the word "tutti" means "everybody" so the verb in the next sentence should be plural but you are using "stai" (2nd person singular), just change it in "Ciao a tutti, come _state_?" and it's correct. :)

Love your videos, Miku. I have been using an English-Japanese dictionary for vocab improvement, but this is difficult because the dictionary lists 2 or 3 Japanese words in translation. Wish you could make a video distinguishing the spoken word from the written/formal one.
When I practice my Japanese I tried to to talk as much as I can and my mom thinks that I'm getting crazy for just studying 6 hours per day 😩👆, I mean, if it makes you happy is good but isn't necessary to worry about it :)
6 hours a day is perfect! I did 5-8 hours a day for a year for Chinese, and I’m fluent now. Good luck with your Japanese!
