Wow. I grew up in Quebec, and did almost all of my education in French, and only with YOUR VIDEO have I really figured out how to tell which words are a masculin or feminine. Thank you soooo much!
@@wardogizmo3676 I'm a native portuguese speaker and it's not difficult, however it is a nightmare to foreigners. It doesn't make sense sometimes, like China is feminine and Japan is masculine, but Canada is also masculine even though it ends with "a".
I usually catch on quick when it comes to learning new things in French but the gender of French words has been an absolute struggle for me. This helped so much thank you.
Hello, I have reviewed in my head things l learned from you in this video, then I reviewed the video.. Truly, l need to congratulate you. For YEARS l've been struggling with gender in French. One thing that messes me up is that l speak Italian and there are quite a few nouns that are not the same gender in both languages, (even though they're both romance languages). I only had about a year of formal French training (in 1996), and have learned it fluently since meeting my French hubby 16 years ago, from my own efforts. My hubby's not a great teacher LOL. Never have I come across any written material, video, family member or friend that could explain it in such a simple and concise way. THANK YOU SO MUCH !!
Thanks you very much for this very nice and very splendid lesson on the genders in french for learning more magnificent french vocabulary and french grammar, merci beaucoup pour cette magnifique et jolie information culturelle pour apprendre a ecrire et a etudier en francais
Hey there, Pierre. Thank you for explaining it well. I was so confused for the past days until I tumbled into this today. I m good now although i must say continue learning my French..... Thanks again.

Thank you so much!!!!!! I had no idea about how to identify gender of words in French and I learnt it in 30 minutes and I feel like a expert Thank you!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏
7:26 well another notable exception is domaine which highly resembles feminin construct (-ine) but actually is a masculine word (le domaine), which confused me for many years
Wow, an auk, never heard of it before, like a bird in the puffin family, I'm learning new English too! But this is really helpful! Still, I'm amazed how much is still buried in there from school!
This video could have been done in 5 minutes and more clearly. You beat around the bush for most of the duration. Feminine: “-e”, "-sion", “-tion”, "-son" Masculine: most non "-e", "-age", "-ège", "-isme" Then list the notable exceptions to these rules.

do people who speak french as their first language get confused in word genders as well? I was just curious
@@wardogizmo3676 I don't think so. It doesn't happen in other languages and probably neither happens in French.
This guy is like my principal 🤣

Words ending in -AGE are masculine EXCEPTING those which are single sylables - LA rage (=rabies), LA page (page), LA cage (cage), LA sage (wise)
The word image in French is two-syllable but masculine. It says « l’image » « une image »
La sagesse
Sage est un nom qui peut être masculin et féminin. Tu peux écrire : Cet homme est un sage. Cette femme est une sage.
