So when you start giving lessons, hit me up. I’d love to take lessons from you about this. You’re a great teacher. with what I’ve learned while watching your channel, I’ve vastly improved. Thank you, Zander, for all the effort you put into these videos. It shows.
I definitely would sign up! I've commented a couple times on your vids asking if you do or not, but I also lose them so I'm never sure you if you respond or not!
Man brother you've come a long way... and deservedly for sure!. I remember when I found your "Floods" video and then your " Drop C How you write a riff " video. Proud of you man.
Best lesson on guitar I have ever seen. You make as simple as it can be.I have played guitar on and off for 30 years, I am autistic and have always struggled with books on theory but you have actually turned a corner for me.Keep up the good work and Thankyou.
This is super an approachable explanation. I agree, the most important factor to remembering and understanding is applying the theory to technique - it goes for all types of learning, not just guitar. Thanks for the motivation and lesson! 🤘🏻🎸😎
I'm an older learner, but theory is helping me an awful lot. Ancient masters have all these time tested scales and applications, and learning just even a few beyond Pentatonic and the smallest amount of theory can take away so much guess work and pointlessness. And it really can't stop the creativity, because there is no hard rule, you can ALWAYS add, splice, subtract and blend at will. I have so much more to learn, but it really makes me appreciate the instrument so much more
Great timing for this video. I've been playing in bands and composing music for almost 30 years and it's all been by ear. Now that I'm 45 I finally enrolled in actual guitar lessons to learn theory. I'm starting next week. I was one of those who once believed if I trained myself to color within the lines, I wouldn't be able to think outside of that to create interesting music. Now at this age, I actually think that, if anything, learning theory will help me better appreciate the many songs I've written over the years.
I love these videos, keep it up, the hard part about learning music theory for me is knowing where to continue. I have some basics and even some niecher knowledge but also many gaps and I'm not sure what I should be learning, any tips?
Thank you for this! I'm 38 now and just started to learn guitar two weeks ago (grabbed my girlfriend's acoustic but plan to buy an electric guitar as soon as I'm sure I will keep going). I don't know where my journey is going but I'm sure this will help me on my way and I'm sure I will come back to your channel and soak in all of this stuff. Maybe you could make a video mentioning some easy to lern metal songs or even some tutorials for beginners?
Is your other music theory course still available? I've been trying to get motivated and want to increase my skill. Ive been playing since i was a kid, but I dont feel im where i should be.
Music theory itself is pretty basic, if you play piano. Each key is its own pitch. On guitar I can play the same pitch on multiple strings. That’s where it becomes a challenge.
Awesome video, you're really good at explaining stuff. I know you already made videos about using theory but could you please make a vid about writing non-generic riffs using music theory? Thank you so much for your effort.
Good video 💯 what kind of guitar is that? I think you are a great guitarist. You should ask Rob zombie for an audition since they don't have John 5 anymore.
5:29 wrong mistake? id like to make more of them, i only do right mistakes🤣(if only it was true). Anyway, love your approach on the topic, very simple and well explained.
Nope; you lost me at the 3:10 mark-onward. Suddenly became too confusing. I'm sure to you, the theory/your explanation are simple/clear, but that's really not the case for everyone. A single teaching method isn't translatable to every student.

Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment
I don't think you'll realise how helpful this is/will be, Really stripped it back to a basic form so it's easy to digest. Great video man
I'm glad that you're teaching this. We need this.
Glad it was helpful!

Damn bro that’s a great video. Definitely need more of those. You explain it perfectly.🤘🏻
Ive seen a bunch of music theory for beginners and this one was the best for me by far
Man, this is a great lesson! Thank you for putting your valuable time and energy into this critical information.
Thank you for watching!

Amazing explanation, is one of the best I have seen. We need more like this, a simple explanation of complicated music theory.
Really what i was looking for. Nice work!
Please continue this series!

I always wanted to learn to play. ❤

The books by James shipway are great. Available on Amazon
Awesome

The Be Sharps was an amazing simpsons joke.
Thank You 🤘
I know just enough music theory to be dangerous
5:29 wrong mistake? id like to make more of them, i only do right mistakes🤣(if only it was true). Anyway, love your approach on the topic, very simple and well explained.
I can only count to 4, I can only count to four, I can only count to for, I can only countwo 4!!!
Which octave has the 'brown note'?
Does this lesson apply equally to different tunings ? Like E standard or 7 strings tunings?
yes
Xander did you study music in college or self taught ?
I went to school and got a degree in Music Theory
Thank you, I’ve learned a lot from this video as a beginner guitar player!
Glad to hear it!
Thoery
12 notes in * *western music*
What is the point in USA to have a tattoo what looks like a black t-shirt haha
Theory? No thanks, I play guitar.
Hey are you in a band? Do you have any music I could check out? I’d love to hear what you create since you don’t need theory
It was a joke...
Ok. I’m always curious to learn from others and how they create
Nope; you lost me at the 3:10 mark-onward.
