The specialness of the CSL really comes out when you push it, it’s a surprisingly big difference, it drives like a supercar, but the normal M4 Comp is still excellent for the money
I seen a a track performance race between the M4 CS , the z06, and a Porsche GT3 and it came in last that blew my mind. The bmw praised for its performance on the track and got beat by a corvette and Porsche 4 cylinder. One driver for all 3 cars he said on corners it was shit and the tires where the suckiest tires ever and this was said my the driver fucken M got gapped by 10 cars by the corvette and 20 by the Porsche car. I was shocked seeing the M4 is one of my favorites and always said to be the best performance car but only really good on straight away horrible 🤦🏾♂️
As special as that car is, and it is special… that reason is why I couldn’t drive it the way it deserves. I would’ve never put the miles on a CS/CSL that I’ve put on my M3. I’m sure as a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th car it’s sublime. But as an only car, I can’t make it make sense.
Should have picked the exclusive CSL race buckets. Big difference between those and the ones in the CSL you tested. Definitely makes the drive more of an experience. You also will not find them in any other car than the M4 CSL, except for the $750,000 3.0 CSL. Missed an opportunity considering the value of this car is in its exclusivity compared to a regular M4.
If you're going to park it in a garage and wait for it to appreciate i agree.....but good luck road tripping it (or driving it to a track a couple of hours away) in the fixed buckets if you're 6ft 3 and need to adjust your body's position from time to time. 300 miles in the adjustable seats is no problem and I can't say I spend a second thinking about the seats when pushing the car, it's just a non-issue.....too busy concentrating on keeping it on the road!
I am 6’ and they are perfect for me. Just went to Milwaukee and back from Chicago (200 miles) and found them very comfortable and expect them to be holding perfectly on the track (almost done with break in…). I also happen to live less than an hour from the track so the seats are perfect for me. I you are 6’3” I agree with you, it might be a problem…

I had a 22 m4 comp x drive coupe and now has 24 m3 CS. It’s not m4 csl, but even the cs feels way more special than the m4 competition.
Honestly I had an M4 CSL owner tell me that they believe the M3CS would be better than the CSL

U need the yellow lights and bucket race seats for the csl to be worth it imo

@willr8768 they are somewhat adjustable I'm 6 1 they work for me after playing with the bolt settings
I have an opportunity to trade my 718gt4 for a new CSL.what are your thoughts ?its primarily track use and some weekend rides.
If stick with the gt4, I love my gt4, i daily drove the CSL for 2-3 weeks, it was fun but I think long term the GT4 is more exciting
Is it a manual or pdk. If I remember correctly those are manual only. If so, CSL hands down
