As the designer of this product, I very much enjoyed watching this video, thank you! You accomplished exactly what I intended when I released this project and it was super fun for me to watch someone as yourself run through and document the process. Happy soldering, -Frank_fjs
Thanks so much for making this project, and I'm glad that you enjoyed the video! I have made several Miniguns for friends here locally, and it's great to see people getting into the hobby of playing on original arcade PCBs. The Minigun makes it safe and easy to do that!
Really liked this one! Wasn't expecting at all. I wish I could have some arcades cartridges but they are way too big 😂 I think it's hard to keep them stored. For now I'll stick with emulation. Great video!
Yeah I suppose I could have put it in diode mode to test. But the damn thing is so tiny that I was afraid it would go flying off my table. At least it’s not a big deal because if I installed it backwards it doesn’t cause any damage
really love the channel...i've been trying to teach myself soldering circuits lately, as i enjoy learning new things, and wanted to branch off from just computers...I was curious, what kind of flux do you use? Also, what solder do you use? I have gotten a spool of 1/32 rosin core solder. Is that what I need? thanks for any advice, and as always, keep up the fantastic work bud
Should do a setup for a Sinden light gun USB to jamma board.. would be an interesting project. Have the Sinden software flashed onto a chip on a custom board so you can configure the guns and then set it so you can boot straight into the game when the guns have been configured or have it tap into Sinden software when game is in diagnostic menus and allow hardware to use calibration from Sinden software with game software.. unless there is an easier way to do it.
@@LIRetroGaming thanks .. just kinda thought that being that older gaming hardware might go out of Vogue or too hard to find.. and makes things a lot easier for older games to get a new piece of kit and maybe even perform a transplant of the Sinden hardware into the older gun so that nothing really feels out of place.
Great one,but just keep a long connector to...connect directly a arcade stick handmade not just db15 neo geo, more options. With jamma+ 5 buttons..or 6 buttons cps games it's difficult just with neo geo controls. Also directly on pcb, test and service buttons is always better. Same with rgb sync, stereo and even screen display like on arcade cabinet. I m still using one of the first ever supergun Combo A.V,like Kic's 91 who were presented as 'arcade console' back then,a childhood dream too expensive,I bought it 20 years after, now it's very basic,no option,so I added few stuff and better security in it,like Lukemorse did it. It's a pleasure to play childhood arcade pcb on it. Also,in 2014 or 2015 I contacted 3A,back then they only did multi games jamma, about my Combo A.V,I asked if they could make a plug n play android or cheap pc to play since Willow to Deathsmiles,Cotton 2,dreamcast...and less than a year later the first Pandora box arcade pannel 2 players were available, same style than my Combo.
Very good question. The cheaper ones have also worked for me but in this case I wanted something that’s really good quality. A jamma connector on a cabinet is probably not going to hold one PCB whereas games are swapped out all the time with a supergun
Hey great vid. Couple questions: If you wanted component you would just need to solder in the other connection. The board is the same either way correct? I ask because I have this board and it has the 8 pin DIN SCART. I'd like to replace it with component. Also, there is a switch that says LPF, just left of the kick harness. What is that for?
Yes there is a alternative version of this PCB that uses a nine pin Genesis model two connector. This would let you use HD retro cables and get component video. The switch for the low pass filter is just in case you need it for some arcade games to improve the video quality. So far I have not needed it with my set of games
That cool. Great way to check out old games or boards while restoring old cabinets.

To test the Led use a multimeter in diode mode you will find the + and - because the Led will light up
Thanks!
man that is rad. long live aladdin's castle!
Had an Aladdin’s Castle at my local mall when I was a kid. Place will live forever in my dreams 😁 loved that place 🤟🏼👍🏼
This video was very informative, thank you. Please make a video on your homemade 6 button joystick you used in this video for testing.
Sure, I can make a follow up video on that as well!

Nice I actually have the dedicated 4 player with turles in time and Simpson which are all basically the same pcb with the audio input clip.
That’s awesome!
I spend more time playing old or arcade game's than my modern game's
Me too
You’re doing God’s work!
Amazing work!
love your channel and video. Would love to see a video about all your tools you have. I need a heat gun and would love to hear your recommendations.
Thanks! I have been thinking about making a video like that so that’s probably something I’ll do in the next couple of weeks
Couldn't you just use your multimeter in continuity mode and test for the +/- ends of the LED?
Yeah I suppose I could have put it in diode mode to test. But the damn thing is so tiny that I was afraid it would go flying off my table. At least it’s not a big deal because if I installed it backwards it doesn’t cause any damage

Which video cable did you use? I have a SuperGun CBox 2.0 and I haven’t been able to make the colors right

I would like to play these arcades on my Atari VCS
What's the converter for your joystick? I have a stick at home with a zero delay board inside...is there a suitable MVS converter?
I was using a homemade stick that was wired directly for Neo Geo
Are the Sullins Jamma edge connectors much better than the standard cheapo "Z Jamma" ones? They appear to be about 4x the cost at the moment. Thanks!
Very good question. The cheaper ones have also worked for me but in this case I wanted something that’s really good quality. A jamma connector on a cabinet is probably not going to hold one PCB whereas games are swapped out all the time with a supergun
Did you calibrate your TV first? Most modern TVs have weird red balance by default.
What is the video out? Scart? Component?
Depending on the version that you build it can either be SCART or component
@@LIRetroGaming Thanks for the answer!
Any input lag added using this converter board?
No, there isn’t any lag generated by the minigun

@@LIRetroGaming I see I see. Okay thank ya kindly!
What type of cable did you use for video out to tv?
I used an 8 pin mini din to scart cable. But there is also a version of this project that uses a genesis model two RGB or component cable
@@LIRetroGaming Thank you for your answer :)
that would be a great project. But I have doubts over my chances of success with those surface mount components and my old eyes. Great stuff.
do someone sell this pcb pre assembled?
Yes, they can be found on Etsy and ebay
@@LIRetroGaming the only auction is far away from italy. i should find a shop selling smd components for cheap. importing from digikeys is expensive.
Can i pay you to make one for me with sega saturn ports
Unfortunately I can’t change the design so you would have to use a Neo Geo controllers. But I certainly can make one
@@LIRetroGaming thanks for getting back to me.I bought the same one on ebay.Thank you for the videos.they are very helpfull
HELP. I need reverse.
PS to jamma .
