Yes you DO need domain privacy! I followed this video to create my website and ever since I did that, I started being BOMBARDED with marketers on my personal email AND they were even CALLING MY HOME PHONE. I feel unsafe all of a sudden, realizing that they have access to my HOME ADDRESS even!! I immediately purchased the domain privacy protection offered by BlueHost upon realizing (this was 3 days after I created my website), but I am STILL receiving spam!! This was completely wrong for them to suggest that it is not necessary.

I'm new to this and I've got my page set up per the video, which was very simple and made a lot of sense, but I don't quite understand what menus are for. Are posts collected upon or underneath menus? What I'm saying is, if I create menus on my site for, say, family, pets, cooking and travel; is the Cooking menu a file folder, if you will, where all of my posts about cooking will reside? And when I post about travel, will I put those posts in the Travel menu? I can't figure out how to move a post underneath a menu, if it can be done. Menus are for creating links to different content on your site such as your contact or similar pages. If you want to list posts in certain categories on a page then you would link to the specific category and WordPress will generate the list for you. I have recently purchased a domain for WordPress.com. I have been working on a site using the OceanWP theme, and I have created a slide show using the Background Type option in the Edit Section option. I have been able to adjust photos for the tablet, but it is not possible in the mobile mode. How can I have my pictures automatically resize to fit the mobile screen? I was hoping this theme would do this automatically. I have searched the net but what I have seen is confusing. Two plugins were suggested, which I have installed and edited. These plugins are 'Adaptive Images for WordPress' and 'RICG Responsive Images' but they have had no effect on the mobile images. Am I doing something wrong? One video said I should place the appropriate html code in the Appearance Editor, but my Appearance function does not have an Editor listed. Any advice you can offer. is there a plugin for this. Why wouldn't you ever change your URL? I got my website and it was automaticly named something like test__.com, so i changed it myself to the name i wanted. Can i face some problems?
it sounds like you may have been set up on a temporary URL by your hosting provider if your domain was pointing elsewhere. In that case you would certainly want to change your domain but for the most part, users should have their site on the domain they chose when signing up so this should not be an issue.

hello I am using the twenty twenty theme and for the life of me I can not get the "by admin date and comments tabs at the top of the webpage why would Wordpress not give you the option to hide all of them bars easily, the Gutenberg block editor is easy to work with but it makes the site look like a blogger site by having them at the top of the site does anyone know how to remove them?

I'm new to this and I've got my page set up per the video, which was very simple and made a lot of sense, but I don't quite understand what menus are for. Are posts collected upon or underneath menus? What I'm saying is, if I create menus on my site for, say, family, pets, cooking and travel; is the Cooking menu a file folder, if you will, where all of my posts about cooking will reside? And when I post about travel, will I put those posts in the Travel menu? I can't figure out how to move a post underneath a menu, if it can be done. It seems like I can only make one post on a single menu And what is the distinction between a page and a menu? I know I'm close but I've got this wrong. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Menus are for creating links to different content on your site such as your contact or similar pages. If you want to list posts in certain categories on a page then you would link to the specific category and WordPress will generate the list for you.

When I hover over the theme it does not scroll at all.
That may be something specific to that theme if we are understanding you correctly

I have recently purchased a domain for WordPress.com. I have been working on a site using the OceanWP theme, and I have created a slide show using the Background Type option in the Edit Section option. I have been able to adjust photos for the tablet, but it is not possible in the mobile mode. How can I have my pictures automatically resize to fit the mobile screen? I was hoping this theme would do this automatically. I have searched the net but what I have seen is confusing. Two plugins were suggested, which I have installed and edited. These plugins are 'Adaptive Images for WordPress' and 'RICG Responsive Images' but they have had no effect on the mobile images. Am I doing something wrong? One video said I should place the appropriate html code in the Appearance Editor, but my Appearance function does not have an Editor listed. Any advice you can offer. is there a plugin for this. I am new to HTML and WordPress. Thank you!

Why wouldn't you ever change your URL? I got my website and it was automaticly named something like test__.com, so i changed it myself to the name i wanted. Can i face some problems?
it sounds like you may have been set up on a temporary URL by your hosting provider if your domain was pointing elsewhere. In that case you would certainly want to change your domain but for the most part, users should have their site on the domain they chose when signing up so this should not be an issue.

For first installing a WordPress site the steps would be different depending on your hosting provider but for the steps in the wp-admin area they should be the same on any hosting provider :)

More than likely they could not verify your domain was active when installing the site, if you reach out to your host they can normally update that domain for you :)

Great vid..............your Wordpress layout is different from mine....figures....no option to start a web page as you have..../.....bought a website name....bought a plan via Canspace.....trying to learn as a beginner.....couldn't be more lost right now. trying to build website...../ I do not have, on the dashboard column...."Start a WP site", as you do.......says "My Blog" instead. ....picked a theme.....lost there.... can't find it.....Why can you not look at the page you are working on like on Wix or Weebly? . I need "Wordpress for dummies", perhaps ...lol...
If it says My Blog, you likely had WordPress installed for you so you should be able to follow the steps after the site has been installed
