One become completely spellbound when Alan Wilson sings and plays. His guitar tone is so unique and his playing so magically and low down. Notice the notes that are left out what they do to the music. Wow man!
Your friend saved my life since the 80s I knew the music world was bs as a kid I fell into a box of 8 tracks early 80s and never left I relate to the Owl he had he greasiest licks in the world 🌎 rip Al From all your hardcore fans you saved me💥👍
@Catherine I read your comment the other day about going with Alan a couple years when you were friends in Topanga Canyon..like everyone else I was so excited to get to hear some things maybe we hadn't heard by reading the books about Alan written already...I COMPLETELY understand you're not talking about your private friendship with him..but please understand, there is so little written about his personality and he was gone so soon, forgive us for being so curious...those are your personal memories, I would not want to share them either! Sorry..I'm sure he was as wonderful as they have already written...what a lucky person you are to have talked to him & got to listen to his feelings. Thank you.
Beautiful performance, I love Alan's guitar and slide work, as a Harmonica player he's been a huge influence on my own playing style. I WISH TO GOD THE WHOLE WOODSTOCK PERFORMANCE WOULD BE RELEASED . It's way overdue. If the complete shows by Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Creedence Clearwater, the Who etc could be released than Canned Heat ought to be released as well. ..
Yeah, there seems to be a lot of Canned Heat Woodstock performances, but a lot of it is bits and pieces here and there on YT, but at least it's out there. Not sure what's missing. RE Blind Owl -- agreed, love the tone he got from his Gibson. Not sure what amp he used, maybe a Fender, cranked with the tremolo on, great tone, though. Very organic sounding.
Is that not Rolling and Tumbling? Blind Owl was one of only a handful of white musicians who truly knew the Blues , I'd have love to see him pair up with that Texas Rattler Johnny Winters .
Am I the only one who feels the band was sounding pretty ragged at Woodstock? They’ve definitely sounded better... Mandel was not the best choice to replace Henry, who really knew how to comp behind other musicians. Mandel didn’t seem to listen to anyone, but himself... Check out ‘Turpentine Moan’, on the ‘Playboy After dark’ appearance. That’s Canned Heat at the very top of their game.
Dude you are so wrong in so many ways. mandel kicked ass. Sunflower just left. That’s a tough act to follow. Do you even know anything about Delta Blues? They were called back for twice for encores. They were playing at the pinnacle of the event. Saturday early evening. And the crowd loved them.
@@toreckman8899 Well, first off, I’ve been a huge fan since 1968. Listening to Larry Taylor started me off on a profession as a bass player. I listen to them from the perspective of a musician, so I hear things that most non musicians miss. I actually became friends with Larry Taylor back in 02 and we actually talked about the Woodstock gig. He, himself was not happy with the overall performance. Anyway, it’s just my opinion. They still are one of my favorite groups from the sixties.
@@paulnicolosi4792 then I would say, who wasn’t off at Woodstock? Second, I never said you weren’t a fan. I asked about Delta blues Did he mention playing with Mayall and Blue Mitchell?

Great to see young folks enjoying this vintage music. Can you imagine jamming in front of 400,000 people @anthonymenichino1381
I can NEVER get enough of Canned Heat!
Alan was a musical genius, shame many only recognise it now
Alan lived the Blues, and breathed the air at the top of the sequoias . I loved being around him, he changed my view of things, Godspeed Alan.....
i wanna hear about him man!
