Panasonic S5ii Wide Angle Firmware Test

- Wide angle test for the latest firmware update version 3.0 for Panasonic Lumix S5ii. Using my Sigma 12-24mm f4 Art Lens, I test to see if there’s any improvement for the IBIS jelly warping in the corners when filming with wide focal lengths. After hiking around the trails of Paradise Valley Conservation Area, capturing a wide variety of shots, I definitely notice a great improvement. Still far from perfect but, especially when walking fast, but much smoother than before the upgrade. Talking footage captured with DJI Osmo Action 4.

The 14 - 28 Panasonic is a great lens.
Great video T doggy. It looks like an interesting update and the camera must be super fun to play with. Gotta get back in the Panasonic game again soon 🎥
Thanks Dubs! If you get the S5iiX you can shoot ProRes
Well.. still wobble. But yea, Its 12mm on a fullframe using sensor stabilization. Im not even sure if its anatomically possible to have like total 0% wobble tbh.
I mean for what it is, its pretty damn good. Would love to see the same test with 24mm, since thats the most common wide angle used and also in normal 4k mode. 6k opengate is cool but I think it makes the wobble more noticeable and most people dont use that mode.
Thanks for the video!
Yep, still some wobble even though I think there's improvement. Walking heavy footed at 12mm is still a disaster. A few of the shots were at 24mm... probably the good ones. I might try to mix in the new electronic stabilization feature for a wide angle test in 4K with 16:9 aspect ratio. Thanks for the response 🤙
24mm does seem to wobble slightly in 6k open gate
@@creativegreatsvisuals ya it does sometimes
But did you enable the super steady modes etc? Or JUST the ibis
Just the IBIS. I wanted to see how good it looked without any cropping on the sensor. I might do another test with the electronic stabilization added
How do you expose without an ND filter? Shutter doesn’t seem to be that slow, is it the tight aperture? Thinking about getting this instead of the 14-24 for the 2 extra mm but the lack of filter thread concerns me.
Nvm there’s no filter thread on the other one either
I was shooting between f8 and f20 to keep 180 degree shutter speed. A filter would be nice for bright days. I think there’s some adapters that have a drop in filter
