I used to bring some nice long nosed pliers with me when I fished so I could get hooks out of a fish if they swallowed it too far. Helps getting the hook out without killing them if I want to let them go.

As an old timer fisher of this area, I have to say that Butterfish are the best tasting fish of all time. Filet and skin one in moments to make fat little nuggets. Lightly fry and you'll never regret it. I have won many bets on this.

One day I tried some and was hooked. They are best made into boneless fish nuggets. Very tasty. I've not been fishing in many years but you have inspired me, and I miss the sunsets, so I'm now shopping for a new rod and tackle, as my kids cleaned me out years ago. Thanks!

Dom sinker is fine mate, it kicks up send and attracts fish, you should know that by now, after sunset yeah sure, but even then with the slow retrieve, the phosphorous trail will attract predator fish. Loving your vids especially when you catch that fine ‘specie mine’. !
About 2 weeks back, caught 2 stonker yellowtail whiting, they were an easy 40cm. Yesterday we went out fishing and the herring my dad caught was about 2 thirds the size of yours. Keep fishing mate

Depends where Im fishing and when, during daylight lures are great, but as it gets bait baitcasting mulies or even on a sinker are the way to go. I did try with lures this trip but nothing so good old bait worked fine
Angus Sapsworth if you’re more interested in being active and experiencing the bite go for lures although bait is easier to use and you won’t need to be as active, bait in my experience can catch a much wider range of fish, (using a dead/live bait rather than a plastic imitation) but if you know what your doing lures can be great aswell

I fish here all the time of the jetty and always come home with a bucket of whiting and sometimes squid

Squid and prawns are great bait for Whiting n Herring, pilchards for tailor. Goouck mate👍

I'm pretty sure that "herring" was a little juvenile salmon. I'm pretty sure but not 100% sure
It was a herring..it had black spots on the tip of its tail and its eyes are big, salmon have small ones👍
@@FishTuckerMan I think you're right actually. I think the small yellow eyes threw me off. Usually herring have bigger eyes and not as yellow
