My heart goes out to Greg Gumbel’s family and friends, particularly his little brother Bryant. As a boy in the late 70s, I was aware of Bryant before I ever knew of Greg. Bryant’s star rose earlier than Greg’s, with prominent on-air roles with NBC Sports and the Today Show. In the early 80s, not long after the inception of ESPN, the nation at large was finally introduced to the talents of Greg. I’m not trying to compare careers…I’m just acknowledging that both Gumbel brothers rightly achieved a high level of success and national recognition. Incredible. The odds of any one person “making it” in such a competitive and high profile industry are very long indeed. For two brothers to achieve what the Gumbels did in television broadcasting is completely incredible and magnificent. God bless Greg Gumbel.
I'm 44 & I'm telling you. They are all gone. I don't know how a 90 year old does it. They are the last one left. I'm already there at my age. Out of everyone I knew in high school there is only one person left that I am in contact with that is still alive other than me. Imagine only being 44 and being the sole survivor basically. Never married, no kids. It's horrible to be this lonely before 50 and then watch your entire childhood evaporate. I'm telling you guys. Settle down young. Quit this dating BS. Find somebody quick.
The gumbels are both underrated. I still remember the skit Greg did on the old Chris rock show on hbo where he was doing a mock news cast on the East coast/ west coast rap beef. It was hilarious.
Agree with one of the comments Selection Sunday for the NCAA Mens Tourney and the Tourney itself will never be the same again, he will definitely be missed..
Five billion years from now our Sun will expand into a flaming red dwarf and die spectacularly, destroying Earth as we know it and all of mankind, leaving only the desolation of empty Space, much like the trajectory of Charley Barkley’s career, BUT DAMN, GIRL, IT WAS A FUN RIDE WHILE IT LASTED !!!!
RIP Greg Gumbel, Bill Walton and Steve (Snapper) Jones
3 giants gone. Thank you mentioning the others we lost. 💔💔💔
@@kimedison6677 Jerry West, Bill Russell, Kobe Bryant. RIP to them as well.
They got the West while Marv Albert and Matt Goukas did the East. They were basically 1A and 1B. Great times

I always liked Greg Gumbel as a NCAA announcer, NFL announcer and Host, NBA announcer and Late 1980's NY Knicks announcer.
