I have 996 4S but I'm the first one to admit it's not nearly as good quality as 964 and 993 (last of the aircooled). It's just how it is. The production costs of Boxter-based 996 were only like 40% of those two cars (with new production line from Toyota). 964 and 993 actually didn't make much profits to Porsche because the hand built cars were too expensive and slow to manufacture. Those cars are like bank vaults and it's not just realistic to say 996 is better. Cheers.
I’m not a 996 hater but it’s far from being top and it’s not just the headlights. That ford Taurus interior isn’t winning any awards. The 997 is the sweet spot… the 991.1 is nice but kinda the beginning of complexity for no reason
Yes, the middle section of the video compilation talks about the 997 and why it is the best 911, so can’t disagree with you. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
If looking for "affordable" still modern Prosches I'd say get a 981 Cayman/Boxster which are basically 991 911's for a lot less money.. Same interior other than top of dash and no beackseat, same everything else basically other than the different engine-gearbox layout.. You could also get a recent 718 if you're ok with the 4-cilinder boxer.. Best value Porsches, not even close.. 911 extra value is mostly just status and that backseat if you really need it.. th-cam.com/video/z8RDTsr9POA/w-d-xo.html
ohhhh...the headlight explanation is not factual. Even though it is repeated constantly, it is just the opposite of what is believed. The GT1 race car got the headlight design from the 986 / 996, not the other way around. Look at the original GT1 in 1996, it had the 993 headlights and tail lights. Then the 1997 GT1 got the 996 / 986 headlights. Its a case of "tell the story enough, it becomes accepted."
Fair point and I do believe that the road legal GT1’s with the 993 headlights do fetch a bit more cash. The headlights on the GT1 were largely for marketinf, but having said that most people don’t talk about the headlights being ugly on the GT1 the way that some do with the 996. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
996 not the best. Too many technical issues. The .2 versions were always better then .1 as they corrected issues found and added tech that typically is revealed in the next generational change. As such, the 997.2 is the best, particularly the manual turbo.
This is a video compilation and the middle portion makes the arguments for the 997.2, so if you get past the 996 portion you may agree more with that section. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
I'm not sure I would agree. There are points in favour of the 1999 as possibly the best Carrera. It is the lightest of all 996s. Cable throttle body. Dual row IMS. And seem to not suffer bore scoring of later 996s and 997s.
I have a 991.1 and I am more than happy,for me is enough!!!😎
991.1 is a modern day classic. Goldilocks blend of old and new.

Dr. Porsche said, “the best Porsche is the next Porsche.” That said, I have a HUGE appreciation for this generation.
Awesome video 🎉
Glad you enjoyed it.

Agree with the complexity on the 991. Too many gadgets one does not need in a 911. Inside is like a Christmas tree.
997 Turbo gen 1.5 Manual the last turbo manual a future classic that’s only gonna up in value like the 993 turbo
So let me get this right, they are ALL the best 911!
Pretty much whichever you can afford.

@@TheIggy58 you sounds like you have never owned nor driven a 996. So much hate it sounds like you are comparing a Nissan Altima to a Porsche….

I’m sure they will love the first portion of the video.

@@OurRideLife Thank you for the beautiful video; the 996 is a car of great charm (IMHO); much more beautiful in person.
@@alessandrogetilli2831the 996 C4S, turbo, GT3 and GT2 will hard to acquire in the next 5 years as prices are rising. Such pretty cars
