@@TheImmortalsCaWelcome aboard Scott! I’m glad I caught this comment! Almost missed it. For some reason it’s hit or miss if I get notified of the replies to a comment versus a new stand alone one. 😅
1000% agreed! Jay is such a decent guy and it would be my honour to have some more videos with him down the road for sure! Thanks for joining in, my man! Glad to have you here with us too! //derek
I really enjoyed putting this video together. It brought back so many memories from the past year and a half. The subscribers are the fuel to keep us going, so thank you so much for joining in with us! It means so much! //derek
I’m glad you followed Jay out to his cabin and he linked your bio in his description . I’ve subscribed and will watch every time new content is posted. I was amazed on how far your tent has come, I need to check out some of the older videos.
I love how this community is growing! Check out that old tent setup, it was a whole lot different! Just don’t be too harsh on my video content skills! 😅. I’ve learned a lot along the way, and am still learning every day! I am fortunate to have recently received a LOT of good pointers from Jay. He is such an amazing content creator. Cheers! //derek
Hi Derek! Great compilation and trip down memory lane! Enjoyed all of those videos! Congrats on the up surge of subscribers! You take care brother and I’ll see you on the next one! Terry!
Congrats on 1000 Subscribers Derek!! Was a great video showing all your adventures so far. Hope to see a new Christmas one this year. That is still one of my favourites.
It’s so awesome watching just how far you’ve come and how the quality of your channel continues to improve with every video you post. Keep up the great work. I also look forward to seeing what your meal of the day is gonna be…… you can call the cooking segment of the video “scoff’s in da woods”. Have you tried toasted tuna sandwiches on the open fire? You won’t be disappointed
It’s been a great journey so far. I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds 👍🏻 Pro Foodie Tips: *Zatarains Dirty Rice (well, all of the Zatarains rice/beans meals are good) is my favorite 1 pot, stick to your ribs, meal. The Zatarains Blackened Chicken is the most versatile because you can use any protein (especially shrimp😉) and it works great! Also, the contents are in a foil pouch in the box. If you want to cut down on bulk and a tiny bit of weight, you can write the cooking instructions on the pouch with a marker. When you’re packing your cooking/eating utensils, wrap them individually in aluminum foil. That way you’ll have plenty of it when you get to the tent (or any destination) and, if you don’t use it, you can wrap up the dirty utensils in it for the trip home.
Like a lot of others, never knew about your channel till I saw you on Jay’s video. Just subscribed and looking forward to watching your past videos and new one as you post. Cheers from Texas.
You cook a mean egg, dude! :) I love your tent. It's nice! I followed you here after watching Jay Legere, too. So glad I found your channel! I'm liking your content.
Thanks so much Janie! The tent is soooo comfortable and good for the soul! I’m glad I get the opportunity to bring you guys along with me. Pull up a virtual chair and enjoy!! Chat again soon! //derek
mate i enjoy your channel as i enjoy seeing that sort of lifestyle. being an aussie i shall never experience that type of cold and well i wouldnt beable to handle it. coming up to summer here and apart from the 40 plus days, bring it on. winter i struggle.
Australia is near the top of the bucket list for me! Im thinking if you can handle living where everything around you is able to kill you, it would be a walk in the park to try the cold here someday Peter! Look me up when you get here! 😂
Jay sent me!..good that you helped each other on the journey over..think you have the deluxe version of tents..😂 however, I'm not sure sometimes what you are eating! The steaks looked mahoosive, tho! Stay safe, and best wishes from the UK 🇬🇧
Hey Julie! It was definitely the best idea to travel out there together. Now that we know it’s safe… won’t we season is ON ☺️. We’ve got a new video scheduled for Friday… wait until you see what’s on the menu for this one! 😉.
My SIL just messaged me to see if I had seen your channel I had not , but didn't take long for me to hit the subscribe and then turn on the notifications bell this is definitely the stuff I like to watch , looking forward to following your channel hope you have an awesome week.
Hey Donald. You can see the debut of the wheels on video: th-cam.com/video/p2a1CnMfnhk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=9ly39P9deHB6pWeH (in case the link isn’t clickable, it’s the one titled “Preparing the CANVAS WALL tent for WINTER CAMPING). I have raw video in my collection of the actual installation but I didn’t edit it into a video. I’m definitely not a how-to channel because… well, nobody should follow my direction with building things 😅. LOL!
5:51 😅don’t wanna be that guy but I’m going back watching old videos it seems like the new the story telling seems much better this video seemed like was just a a montage of videos and just you and the family making memories 😊❤❤❤ love to see it.
Exactly what it was! All the best moments of everything up to this point in the channel history was captured in this video! It took a long time to make, but was very enjoyable to relive all the moments and re-read all the comments along the way!
Thanks so much Mike! Jay is one heck of a TH-cam megastar! I’d love to do a collaboration but I’m nowhere near his calibre of talent. Maybe one day perhaps 😅. Thanks for joining in with us! //derek
Greetings from Alberta!!! Saw you on Jay's recent video and decided to subscribe. Have a question though. Is your tent the same size of Jay's or is it bigger? That's the problem with filming., In one shot it looks smaller and then in the drone shot, it looks bigger. Just wondering. I remember seeing that kind of wood stove on Shawn James My Self Reliance channel. He had one in his workshop, that he built. He later updated it, as you did as well. Nice looking wood stove you got there!!! Question: Is it true that the Great Slave Lake is the 2nd biggest lake in Canada? I've watched many of Joe Robinet's canoe trips on that lake. Man, it's huge!!! btw nice looking boat you got there!!! Looking forward to watching all of your previous and future videos.
Greetings Mona! Thanks for joining in! Very awesome questions! I’ll have to incorporate some of these talking points in some future videos for sure! The Great Slave lake isn’t exactly the second latest lake in Canada, but it is if you only count the lakes whose borders are entirely within the country borders. Lake Superior and Lake Huron are bigger but we share them with the USA. It is, however the deepest lake in North America! Over 2000ft (yes I AM Canadian but I couldn’t tell you what that is in metres 😬). Our old tent was 8’x10’ and the new one is 14’x16’, with a 5’ enclosed porch. I can’t say for sure how big Jay’s is, but our new one is bigger. I think he used to have a 14’x16’ a while back though. I’d have to re-watch to know for sure though. Thank you so much for the support!! Cheers! //derek
You're awesome! Thanks! The lake with the Bayliner is the Great Slave Lake in the Northwest Territories, Canada. The deepest lake in North America! Watch for some monster lake trout in future episodes. We'll be chasing some 30 lb'ers for sure!
I am gonna guess the reason there is so much music this time is he had compiled so many videos into one. If he didn’t they would not make sense. Half conversations mixed with other random ones 😆 I went back and looked at his other videos that he gathered this from and the music isn’t there. With the exception of I think one or two videos! Looking forward to this winter watching! Thanks Sub Arctic for the adventures! I’ve subscribed.
Thank you so much! And yes, you are 100% right. This type of video would’ve been a little… bizarre.. to watch without some kind of music or voice over. Some day I’ll try a voice over. I’m still getting used to editing and figuring things out. Thank you for the patience!
Thank you for the feedback. I actually look forward to knowing what people like and don’t like. This channel is only successful because of YOU and your support. So thank you 🙏
It wasn’t possible for this one. Sorry. Some will have music, some won’t. I hope you can find the ones that suit your taste and stick around with us 😎.
I appreciate the critique. Some of my videos will have music. Some won’t. I hope you find the ones you enjoy and stick around with us. Because of all the different clips mashed together, this one, in particular, had three options. Music, as it is; completely silent the whole way through; or completely silent with me narrating over top - which trust me, nobody wants to hear me ramble for a solid 33 minutes! 🤣😂. Apologies in advance if you decide to stick with us. You’ll hear music, but we’re worth it 😉
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll get better at the musical transitions for sure. I’m still learning. This video was tough though. Because it was a compilation of many different videos with many different sounds and snippets that wouldn’t make sense when pieced together, I had to use music. I tried not to though when I could get away with it, knowing music is a bit of a controversial topic. I think it has its place though. You’ll find that some videos have it, and some don’t. This one will stay the way it is because I was VERY happy with how it turned out, and considering the MANY tens of hours that went into creating this video, it’s not going to be changed. I’ll consider your comment for future episodes though. Hopefully when you check back in, you’ll find the videos that appeal to your taste. Cheers! //derek
Thank you so much! I love the support and comments. This is all you guys, just as much as it is us, so if you have any suggestions of things you want to see tried out, let me know for sure!
