Never heard of putting garlic and sugar in dressing. I am from the south. We put a tablespoon of sugar in the bread mix before baking it. It just seems like the buttermilk and garlic would make it harshly bitter. I guess that's why all the sugar. At any rate, I don't want any dressing which has a sweet taste.
1/3 cup of Sugar was used for the cornbread mix, it wasn’t sweet at all due to it being a decent amount of dressing. The garlic doesn’t impact it a lot either…it was very flavorful and with the giblet gravy on top that sealed the deal
