Excellent- I grew up in Auckland and have been searching for some 1920s footage of Queen St for ages . The last few minutes are glorious!

Interestingly how at 17:17 they were still talking about expanding the network and yet in little over 10 years hence it was being ripped up.

Wonderful stuff! No health and safety crap - Men were Men - an if you got a scratch you sucked it up!

Using a "modern' spray gun with no face mask or gloves using leaded paint, tearing off top of pay-packet and just dropping it on the ground
    then off to the pub.

Hi John. I have trams on a VHS tape & would like it transfer to a DVD. Where's a good place to get it done? Have trams running past VPM & going down Greenlane Rd so dont want it lost. Thanks.

Find a worthy company that does transfers from VHS to DVD. Might cost a few bucks, but its worth it to have a long lasting memory. I'm in Sydney now, so have no idea who can do it fo you in NZ - sorry.

Were there any women drivers of this tram? It doesn't look like it.

I am unsure about motormen but during the second world war conductresses were hired to fill the places of the men abroad. After the war regular passengers would often bestow gifts and have a speech or two for a retiring conductress. Two of the three conductors who operated the last ever tram service in New Zealand were women.
