@@anagonyaowusu3119They did no such thing. Yes there were wrong things that happened in colonial times but Māori tribes could also be barbaric (cannibalism, killing babies..). Would you prefer we went back to pre European times? How would that look to you?
They are very lucky they are not affected of world war 2 that time, thats why the preserbation of there historical places monuments buildings and etc are still there untel now.
Asians (East + Southeast), are fine - at least they attempt to integrate and don’t behave violently or recreate the grim social conditions from which they departed.

This is a very sanitised view of Auckland of the time it was riddled with so called slum housing in the inner city,I have pictures and had many relatives who lived in it. Ngati Whatua were resident in Orakei and post war Maaori were in hostels like the methodist Maaori mission etc but still most were in the country again I have relatives who attest to this. This film looks like a tourist or immigration advert, not a realistic view all mostly well off people
I grew up in that time and there definitely were Maori around, one of them was my best mate. But life was simple and we just accepted each other as we were. We had a lot of fun without all the over tones now of being different cultures. It was a very happy time.
Yes. the Māori population in Auckland was only about 2%. Maori didn't move to Auckland until after 1945. I grew up in the 1950s in Point Chevalier, a suburb of Auckland. In each class of my school, there were only one or two Polynesians and more Islanders than Maori.
People were so well dressed and skinnier back then. A lot more pride in themselves in comparison to todays standard
And the streets were so clean and tidy too
2:11 damn I think I sat over there to eat ice cream 💀💀💀
75 years ago.
wow such a long time ago
It is still the best city in my mind.
Probably the last time Auckland was cool.
Not before the Europeans came in and killed all the natives? Um…ok

All the women were beautiful…..and thin - far cry from today 😂
05:14 ff Hardly Auckland, looks like Mansion House, Kawau.
Wow, thin, industrious Whites, clean streets and beaches, safe parks for single women, where are the Asian, Maori, and Indians?

This was the 40s. Mostly just whites and Maori’s.
City of sunlight my ass, City of nightmares
Generally, the Asians and Indians weren't here, and Maori were kept out of sight in south Auckland and smaller towns. Sad but true.
