- The West Highland Way is a historical trail passing through West Scotland near the coast. It runs along Loch Lomond in the South and then moves north into the Highlands.
The weather in Scotland was unpredictable to say the least. In the morning it would be foggy and raining, clear up around noon, and then rain again once or twice in the afternoon. I did have a couple days of perfect weather though.
The trail is relatively easy to hike. There are areas, especially along Loch Lomond, where there are large step ups/downs.
I met a ton of great people on trail, it was very social!

Scotland blew me away! I was told how cool the nature in the UK could be, and got a taste of it in Ireland, but the West Highland Way was truly unique from the rest of Europe. It was a beautiful hike with tons of amenities. This is a great first hike for anyone looking into long distance backpacking! Thanks for watching!

@@jacobsladder3619 nope. This will be my first one. I'm in the US. I was in Scotland this October, not on a hiking trip. Now all I can think about is going back with a backpack and a tent 😀. Have you been to Switzerland and Iceland?
@@3derevo3 yes Switzerland no Iceland. Biked through Switzerland in 4 days on my way from the French Alps to Frankfurt! I need to go back to the alps and see more though.

Thanks for watching. I actually didn’t do any hiking in Ireland. Met a friend in Dublin for a week and we took day trips to Killarney and Northern Ireland

When did you hike West Highland Way? Just curious about the time of year and the weather.
Hi, it was in mid July. Weather was in 50s F at night and 70s in the day. I think it got into the 40s one night. From what I gathered on the trip, the weather can vary widely depending on the day. There’s plenty of accommodations to hunker down on bad weather days if you have the time. Enjoy the trip!
