Your channel has been vital in my riparium project. I'm only 6 months in, but everything is stable and growing. Im just now seeing growth from my parlor palm.
Those tanks behind you and all the other tanks in the video are cool looking with the root runners down the back of the tank, this video gave me some pretty great ideas as I will be slowly turning my 55gal Angelfish/EBA tank into a planted tank, thanks for the ideas.

Thank you! I've been wondering what some of the plants I've seen are called that I've been wanting to add to my aquarium and now I can make it happen. I appreciate your sharing knowledge 🙏 😌
Added monstara adansonii clippings and heart shaped philodendron clippings. I hope they grow as well as my philodendron Brasil. Would love to see another video about how to display growth of vines . Currently I am using a decorative fishnet as trellis.
Something that might help you is that I couldn't find your channel or video while searching for planted aquariums. Maybe putting terms like that could help you. You have some really helpful information on emersed plants so I was trying to find you but forgot the name of the channel.
Thank you for that. I do include as many relevant hashtags as I can think of, I may try changing up the titles. Trying to figure out the SEO is kind of frustrating for me but I’ll keep trying. ✌️
I currently only have pothos and lucky bamboo growing emersed. I’m gonna have to try some others now. Do your emersed plants’ roots reach down into the substrate?
Do you have any tips for dealing with honeydew and soot/mold on pothos growing out aquariums? I imagine the standard treatment methods are ill advised if the plant is being used in an aquarium.
How long have you had Chinese Red Evergreen in your tanks? Are they tanks with fish or other animals in them? I've read they can be toxic, but I think it is beautiful and want to try it. I'm not judging at all, truly trying to learn. I've never hung plants on the back of my tank and wanted to try a few very low maintenance ones.
I’ve had them in tanks over 2 years. Also have tropical fish in this tank. They are not fast growers but definitely help add color to the design. I believe I talk about plant toxicity at the end of this video. They are safe to grow in fish tanks even though considered toxic to dogs, cats, and people.

I’m really not sure about turtles eating the plants, I don’t have any experience with them. You may try researching the species of plants that grow in the specific turtle species habitat in the wild.
Yes, mangroves are trees, I can see how they would outgrow a tank eventually, did you have one crack your tank? My lucky bamboo is above water but it has shoots growing up and out of the water, it’s not a fully aquatic plant for sure, but great in a riparian setting. my oldest ones are over 3 years now.
@@mikeok5682 I do not know an exact measurement. My advice would be to have them in a hang on filter, or breeder box where their roots do not get into the main substrate of the tank. Have you seen Oak tree roots break sidewalks or ficus tree roots break plumbing pipes? Tree roots can exert a small amount of force of long periods of time that break almost anything.
@@mikeok5682 BTW, I just learned there is a tree called the "Pond Apple" Annona glabra that also grows in water & can tolerate at least high end brackish water (maybe full saltwater), but it also makes a fruit you can eat :) I'm afraid to get one b/c I might be allergic to the flowers. But, if I did get one to grow as a fish tank bonsai, keeping its roots in a hang on back filter or breeder box would be safer.

can you put strelitzia?
I have not tried Strelitzia due to its size, but this would be a good plant to experiment with if you have the space.
So, instead of waiting for the soil-adapted roots to rot and fall off, would it be better to just cut them off, so water-adapted roots will be able to replace them more quickly?
I’ve done this in the past, but personally have had better success with letting the roots transition on their own.

It can be aggressive but can be managed by dividing it every so often. I keep mine growing in containers and ponds and not in the ground.

Magnolia, oak, and elm mostly
