I absolutely love this tutorial. This is my go to receipe for black clothing. If you take your time, thin your paints and blend everything the best you can your cloaks will look amazing.
Good tip for black cloaks, however, for the soulblight gravelords like him, cloth and cloaks i like to do a base cote of abadon black, luprical green on raised edges and sons of horus on the sharp edges, gives a spectral ghoulish look
Wow that looks awesome and what’s great is I went to games workshop today and dropped 250$ on just paints... I picked everyone of these up in the purchase!
@@ThePaintingCoach it was 54 or 56 paints! Doubled my collection I’ve been putting it off for so long now! I have about 2000-2500 points of ultramarines with a knight detachment and the same thing for a world eaters army. But there no where done to completion. I don’t have any friends in the hobby so the painting aspect is more so the hobby for me but I want to be able to have the option to play one day but I spend anywhere from 10-100 hours on a single model I paint everything to the best of my ability but I’ve only been painting the 2 army’s so the other day I ordered a pile of stuff all based off coolness factor what looks like I would like to paint so I got some sisters of battle some orks some tyranids some off chapter marines and to expand the paint collection before they arrived!! I figured painting new things out side of my comfort zone is what will help me grow as a painter!
I'm having a slow time finding the equivalent for Dark Reaper and Thunderhawk Blue in the Army Painter range. Citadel has a conversion chart but points to straight greys (Necromancer Cloak and Uniform Grey). Maybe a 1/5 dab of Griffon blue.
Everybody has their own preferences for how they paint and thats great, but this over does it with the grey. The recesses and overall cloak go from black to a very dark grey to me, and it just seems excessive use of highlighting.
I am in agreement. I would definitely not applied the last highlight, and probably not the one prior either… except in one case maybe: a Bond-ish tuxedo. THAT would likely be crisp and in a spotlight of sorts.
50 seconds, just gets in there and tells you the colours you need and what to do. No animated channel logo or monologues. BLESS YOU
Glad you liked it!
This is such an amazing tutorial, just what I needed and I had all the paints
This dude is the bob ross of miniature painting
Haha thanks David!
massive Fro and dead?

Great, just the tip I needed to paint the sisters on my triumph of saint katherine. One for white cloaks would be awesome too!
Glad you liked it! I'm sure there will be one along soon, once I find a suitable model!

Glad you enjoyed the video - that is a lot of paint! What army are you doing?

Nice work! Sounds like my cuoboards haha! Yeah painting different things will definitely help you improve as a painter!
Loving these... ClipTips&Tricks. Appreciate you!
Thanks Adam - I appreciate you and your support!
Beautiful, as always
Cheers Andy
Very very very very dark blue, to quote father ted! (Kidding, this is a really nice method for black!)
Thank you for the consistent and great uploads , learning a lot. 👍🍄👍
Glad you like them and thanks for watching!
Nice job!
Thanks Ian!
Now i sooo want to paint this mini
It's a cool set!
Loving these little tip videos and saving them for future reference. Thank you 👍
Cheers Wayne glad you like them!
your videos are awsome
Thank you Anton - I really appreciate it!
Top man. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you liked it!
The shorts seem to be doing really well, keep them coming👍
Thanks Niko!
Even better and easier, just get dawnstone dry paint, think it out on the brush and go over it a few times.
Ez and not far off from this 👍🏼
Thank you boss

Took Artis Opus 15 minutes to tell me the same thing. Well done!
Cheers
Definitely comes off more blue-grey than black at a glance.
If you want something darker, you can leave off the last highlight - and darker still, add some thinned down black templar all over 👍🏻
Felt like a short little Games Workshop advertisement.
I kinda wanna see the figures face now😅
Haha i'll do that soon
Awesome again! Legit thought this was a short on painting the Black Coach when it popped up though 🤣
Haha - that would be impressive 🤣
Christ bless you, thanks a bunch for this bro
Glad it helped!
Amazing short. What would you do to make a light colour cape. Like a white one but worn from travel/battle?
I'll do one soon - but for a dirty white maybe Rakarth Flesh, pallid wych flesh and white
Just curious, would you use this technique on black hair as well?
If you want a glossy black look then yes 👍🏻 for something warmer and more natural I'd highlight with skavenblight dinge and stormvermin fur
dude makes me wanna take up painting
Get involved 🙌🏻
would you possibly use these same colours for black power armour ?
Yes absolutely 👍🏻
@@ThePaintingCoach thanks. I’m not great with edge highlights so if I can shade and glaze these towards the highlights it might work 🤟🏼
Try this video too th-cam.com/video/tzfhUXV48dM/w-d-xo.html
Is there a video on that red armor??
Different model (from the same set)

@@ThePaintingCoach Ugh it looks so good. Wish I had found you before I started painting my word bearers haha
What color combo is the grey joints in the armor?
Abaddon Black and Mechanicus Grey
Can you do glowing necron coils?
Check my full tutorials - plenty of necron tutorials on there 👍🏻
@@ThePaintingCoach thanks!
What model is this? Looks dope
This is from the new Crimson Court box for Direchasm 👍🏻
This is awesome. Quick and to the point. Much better than the 30 minute rambling videos with long intros.
Hey I do those too 🤣 thanks - glad you liked it!
What model is that? And where can I get it 😈😈😈
It's one of the new vampires in the Crimson Court set for Direchasm by GW
Mostly paint terrible camos on warlord 28mm ww2 stuff, but your channel makes me want to buy some gw stuff...
Haha - I think I need a disclaimer 🤣 glad you enjoyed the video!
What is that model?!
Hi - that's one of the models from the new Crimson Court set for Direchasm 👍🏻
what is this model it looks sick
From the Crimson Court set
@@ThePaintingCoach oh i see thank you :)
I… love this.

@@ThePaintingCoach oh thank you man
Whatss the figure youre painting
One of the Crimson Court models 👍🏻
@@ThePaintingCoach thx
not too bad, green can be used also i think
I just woke up ngl I thought the title said something else
Looks like a grey cloak now
If it's not to your taste, drop the last highlight and add a black wash or black contrast paint instead 👍🏻
Needs louder audio 👍
Now if someone were to ask me what colour that cloak is I wouldn't be saying black

I was thinking a shade after would after dulled the highlight. Worth experimenting maybe.
Now it’s just a gray cloak…
More of really dark blue than black
If it's not to your taste, drop the last highlight and add a black wash or black contrast paint instead 👍🏻
That's now a blue cloak. Or an off gray one at any rate.

@@ThePaintingCoach
Good idea. Thanks. I'll try that
No problem 👍🏻
All the painters making black armor end up making blue armor, so annoying.
Abaddon Black is the fucking worst!
Thy a lot 👍
What model is that
It's one of the characters from the new Crimson Court warband 👍🏻
