Hi Meta, Good Job! I love this technique. I watched Dwight's videos many times and I struggled for quite a while to get results I like. I found it takes a lot of water. Maybe 20% . I found the right consistency by watching it dribble from the stir stick. As I lift the stick from the paint I watch how high I have to lift the stick where the impression on the paint in the cup goes from being a mound to a vortex. I keep adding water until that transition from mound to vortex happens when the stick is about 1 inch above the paint in the cup. It is an incredible amount of water but it works well. Recently, since results are still not completely predictable, I did a test of many different Americana colors. I put stripes of different colors like a rainbow to see the difference in how much they reacted. There was quite a difference from color to color. For example. Light Orchid was very reactive, but Lavender was not, even though they are both shades of purple. True Blue is and Baby Blue was not. And so on. I've purchased several hundred dollars in Americana paints and made many of these. OK I'm crazy. I put the black in a household paint sprayer and coat my colors with a thin coat. Instead of a puddle pour and dump, I put the paint covering the canvas with some scenery, spray on the black and spin the canvas on a motorized spin table. By doing that I'm stretching the paint from the center instead of from the edges. I get complete coverage with no black hole. Sorry, I don't mean to brag, it's a lot of fun and a lot of work. Enjoy and thanks Meta for the video.
Yes this technique definitely calls for very thin paint! I've done these types of pours with decoart metallics many times, but this is my first time trying out the Decoart Americana Paints. I really like the effect they gave! I look forward to experimenting with it more. I actually love the black center, I feel like it gives the paintings a depth, and focal point that I really enjoy. But I've never tried spinning one of these out before. I think I'll have to give it a try! Thanks so much for watching, and the advice on which Americana paints are more reactive. It's funny how some work better than others for the effects we are searching for. I've found the same to be true with the metallics as well.
Sorry if a dumb ? but after reading & trying to visualize your process I'm wondering if using a motorized vs reg/manual cake spinner makes a noticeable difference when stretching something like a bloom for example? I have a decent cake spinner-same 1 a few other Artists use w/np yet despite making sure its level & remains level while rotating my cells end up more warped than stretched driving me crazy!!! Thanks!😊
Beautiful Meta! Not your normal boulder type though…interesting how the different paints make such a big difference with these pearl pours! Great experimenting!
The creature in yhr middle looks like a Caterpillar with butterfly wings. This pearl pour turned out pretty cool Meta. Thank you for trying this technique with these paints. I purchased a ton of them when I first began pouring. Have a great week! 🥰
Thanks so much for sharing your experiment. I’ve learned a lot. I haven’t tried this but I wasn’t aware how thin your paints have to be. I will know now for a future pour. 🤟
Turned out great! Love those pearls and the Dino 🦖 I like to use LQTX gouache paint. Super pigmented and opaque. Their soft body works good too. Very creamy and they have some great colors 💖 Now to watch your newer video😊
This is the beauty of fluid art that by experiment you can come with something different and exceptional. I love your site and the way you share all your knowledge with us . Thanks a lot and god bless you.🙏👍
WOW, THANK YOU VERY MUCH, META, YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL PERSON FOR MAKING EXPERIMENTS IN CAMARA, IT IS SOMETHING THAT DESERVES ALL OUR APPRECIATION. THE PINK COLOR LOOKS REAL NICE, AS THE WHOLE WORK. MY BEST WISHES, GREETINGS AND BLESSINGS FROM 🇲🇩.
Hello Meta, I must say that of I tried out many many different pearl pour recipes and for me girl your recipe work every time for me. Now that been said, I think you and I have the same climate, I live in Nevada Las vegas area. So paints dry very fast. Again I'm so happy I found your channel, and all the teaching, I don't know if you know decoart makes a pearl acrylic paint and I thought why not use it and it turn out wonderful. It is thinner then the decoart acrylic paints and metallics but it does a give a wonderful soft looking painting.
Thank you so much Terry! I'm so glad that my recipe worked for you! I think climate has a lot to do with pouring, and it's one of those factors that can be overlooked. I will keep my eye out for the pearl acyrlics, and try those out as well if I find them. I love finding new paints that will make pearls!
Hi Meta - I am just laughing so hard LOL. this is amazing I love the space dinosaur - thanks for the experiment and trying those pants - I like that Dino guy- how long do you wait to varnish the pearl pours- I have a few and thought 2 weeks? Oh and love this one xxoo
Pretty in pink! You got a lot more cells the 2nd time around. I think it’s Gina Delucca who likes using the DecoArt Americana for getting fat boulder like cells in her ring pours.
I absolutely am thrilled that I found you on a pouring channel. I love your enjoyable attitude. Can’t wait for many more learning experiences!! I’m

Thanks Joanne! I'm glad it was helpful! I think this technique calls for the thinnest paints possible. (before they just melt apart. lol) 💕

Thank you so much Mirna! I appreciate this very much!
So Beautiful 😍 Fluid art has a charm, never get bored of these fantastic cells. Looking forward for more🤍🌻
Picture was definitely not a failure. It's pretty in a pearl kind of way. When they dried, I wasn't ready for the mat finish but the gloss will fix.
I know, No metallics throw me off a bit every time. I'm a sucker for shimmer! lol
Thanks for experimenting Meta. Love the pink cells 😊
Thank you Donna!
Totally amazing results. At one point I thought you threw off all the color paint then as it dry all the colors start popping up. Wow

Hi. Good video. very good upload. I like it. awesome. like
How did you like the color.
Meta have you tried deco art 2oz bottles of pearls paint?
I don't think I have... Do you mean the Extreme Sheen? (Cause I've definitely used those lol)
This is cool, you had to work it a little harder but the cells look amazing. I love the center cluster, it looks like a alien fetus chillin in space.
Thank you Lauren! The little guy is my favorite little character I've ever had pop up on a pour. I see a baby space Stegosaurus. 😆
