You walk into an abandoned mall. You start thinking about how lively this place used to be. This song starts playing. You remember the crowds of people Christmas shopping. You remember all of your friends having so much fun and how you met your wife here. It was 1982 now it’s 2022. Society is falling and the retail apocalypse is in full swing……..

Theres a abandoned mall near my hometown that i used to go to back in the early 2000s to play in the arcade there now its nothing but dust and abandoned junk sometimes i go there and have flashbacks of when everything wasn’t shit and you could afford to have fun.
this reminds me of when i was walking through the mall with my dad when practically no one was out during the first part of the covid crisis and this started playing and it felt so nice bc it was practically just us and security guards and the odd person walking around
this gives me some happy and sad vibes, I used to visit lots of malls when I was young and heard this song, but the abandoned mall and the song just makes me very sad
INTERNET SHOPPING KILLED THE SHOPPING MALL INDUSTRY Edit:shoot someone already made that joke. In that case, here's a sad. I always played this song with my sisters on just dance, but now all three in college, and one is married. I'm scared that I may never get to play it with them again.

POV: It’s 1987, and you’re in the mall roller-skating with your friends. This song begins to play inside of the roller rink, and you all celebrate due to enjoying the song. You looked to the side, and couldn’t help but notice the news. It had talked about the man who had died a few days prior. He had been violently stabbed and tortured then thrown into a ditch. Your friends ask you what’s wrong, and you respond with a quick “Nothing!” And continue to skate and have fun with them. Little do they know, you’re the person who killed the man in the first place.
In the control room, you find a series of 8-tracks. You scoff. 8 tracks? Who even uses those anymore? The mall probably had to make these special for this old player. Lying on top of the stack, you find one marked: "Closing Day 1985". You plug it in, and the poppy track starts playing. How ironic. You start to move on...
I remember when I was younger and used to visit malls with my family. Even in the early 2000s, things were going a hell of a lot better. Even knowing I was a kid at the time and had less to worry about, I knew I wasn't supposed to grow up with what we've got now. I'd hear some songs like this on the mall radio sometimes, the one I went to in jersey had a pretty good playlist.

Arstotzka is falling. You gather your supplies and run into a mall. You expect to at least find a soldier, a body or something. But nothing is left in your hometown. You wander the halls as the endless music from the speakers crackles to life for the first time in...Years. You sit down and remember everything of your past as the happy songs crackles out from the speakers. The song slowly dies out as gunfire is heard outside the mall. Its time to go. Now.

Any tips on how to do this "mall effect" on songs? I'm close but you made it sound really distant which is what I can't achieve.
From what I can tell it’s basically a little muffling and echo effects with a boost to the treble.
