Glad this was a good eBay buy! I had about given up on eBay because the trash in the “for parts” section, but I bought two Xbox One S consoles recently and I have never seen two consoles look as close to new as these. One had a bad hard drive with only 69 hours logged on it. The other has a bad power IC. I’m still learning micro soldering so I haven’t tackled the second one yet, but I’m seriously thinking about keeping the first in my collection!
Would probably just say the other 2 would be donors for sure, if battery and shell is ok and if daughter board is ok and if the card readers are both ok
could you please do an episode where you catalogue the techniques and substances you use in repairing a switch? Would find it very interesting and good to gauge if I could have a crack one day.
Also. I just watched one of your other videos. They put a coating over the whole board that you have to scrape off the component your testing before it beeps.
Just a small suggestion - you could use an eyeshadow or lip brush to clean instead of cotton swabs. It would be easy to use (they're quite small), easy to clean, and you're wasting less in general. They're stiff enough to clean, but soft enough not to harm small parts. Great video, I love watching electronics repair!
Hey Joey! What a shame those corrosion, when i saw the third switch with that usb C corroded i felt really bad for you. Anyways is not a big lost so you can try again! Good luck and greetings from Spain 👋🏻👋🏻
Well, at least you have some spare parts for another Switch that you might come across, and/or you might be able to alvage that 3rd Switch somehow, and/or you could just re-sell the two water damaged ones as for parts or not working so as to at least break even... right?
Hey Joey, I still have faith that it will be 3/4 fixed once you revisit the first one in this video. One thing to consider for Sally as far as the cost of parts go... if you got it from a donor board you have already paid for them. So it shouldn't be considered in a master spreadsheet imo
Shame about the last 2. Still got some parts though. I just scored 9 faulty switches 2 with joycons for around £230 I've already got 2 working fingers crossed for some more
Can u use the amp meter the other way round? Ie plugging the USB-C into the mains and running a USB type A to say micro USB cable to something like a DS Lite. Or does it only work in one direction. Thanks
I picked a great time to stumble onto part 1. That water damage on #3 makes me think the Switch was set down flat and something spilled on top of it. She's in rough shape, but aside from the shorted components it seems pretty superficial. Did you ever sort that short? My thought is its under the cap itself, rather than being on BQ but I'm also at best "competant" when it comes to soldering beyond "fix my stupid BMW blinker" #4... Is that *rust* oh boy
Wow that was a corrosion explosion for sure. Still great effort on the first one too bad it still does not work. I've done my first ps4 hdmiport replacement and it went perfect (would love to share a photo of my result) but unfortunetly still blod and no usb power, another hdd and psu did not fix it so maybe a reflow of the southbridge otherwise i think the apu me be gone 😢 still so proud of my soldering.😂 good weekend Joey
for the parts that you used in part one, could you not try to take them out of the faulty switches and save the money? just an idea though maybe im wrong
I've watched a couple of your vids and I keep wondering why you got a headset on, are you listening to yourself or like music? Other than that very informative, keep it up!
Sorry Joey, seems your luck had to run out too soon. One other question, are you recording actual profit from a real sale or just expected profit from when or if you do sell them?
Hi Joey - Just came across your channel, just to let you know if you are selling items on eBay with the intention of selling for a profit you are breaking eBay's TOS as you should be registered as a business seller. You probably shouldn't be advertising the fact that you are using a personal account to resell for a profit. Like the videos though!
Great Video! Bad Max IC on the first board? In the old days, we had a saying "the 5 dollar part, protects the 5 cent fuse". 😁
That's true I've never seen a fuse blown in a switch yet like you say the £5 chip blows instead
You can at least zero out the cost of a kickstand as you've just gotten two spares.
This is a great point 😅 I recorded on two different days and didn’t even think about that!
@@JoeyDoesTech You've also gotten some spare Joycon rails from the ones that don't work so you can at least take off the cost of a Joycan rail, too!

Wow two corrosion explosions in one video and one took the unblowable fuse wow that’s some task.
I actually really enjoy these videos before bed. Keep up the content man

aww man, that second board looks fun!

Just started watching and already impressed with the quality of videos, would love to see you try a phone at some point, great job so far mate 👍
You should color the letters on your 3D printed symbol white or silver. The contrasting colors would look cool

maybe in the 1st one is the cap is bad did you removed that cap where you injected the voltage??

Cool and fun to watch videos, may i ask what is the " 1Bw98" thing right above the fuse??
I think it's an indicator to help the people know what part to put on the board when it's assembled in factory.
I picked a great time to stumble onto part 1.

Would love to see the boards after a bath in an ultrasonic cleaner.
So would I 😂
4:54 check that cap
I broke my Xbox series s hdmi port any recommendations what I should do?
Would love to support you on ebay !
I'm getting bored of the Switch videos. Never been a big Nintendo Switch guy. More Xbox or vintage consoles, man! Still love the videos.
Do you think you'll invest in an ultrasonic cleaner for water damage boards down the road?
Do you have an ultrasonic cleaner?
It might be worthwhile to run it through and see if the corrosion was just surface level
If you had watched the video you would know that he DONT has one.
for the parts that you used in part one, could you not try to take them out of the faulty switches and save the money? just an idea though maybe im wrong
may i ask what type of microscope you have?
It started so well in the first part and then two water damaged ones came up.. no chance.
I've watched a couple of your vids and I keep wondering why you got a headset on, are you listening to yourself or like music?
Other than that very informative, keep it up!
Haha, it's just comfort I guess :)
Congrats! You've found a blown fuse! I'm still trying to find one switch where that fuse is actually blown ;)
if the fuse does not blow, what is its point? Aren't they there to go ping?
@@I_Don_t_want_a_handle yes, they are. But (in my experience) half of the board goes ping and the fuse is still perfectly fine.
Trying to. Fix. Four. Faulty. EBay. Items. For. Profit. Part. 2
second one is e-cig damaged i'm guessing
Sorry Joey, seems your luck had to run out too soon.

first ... abit heart broken just seen you on the other channel thought you was a noob at this lol
Trust me I’m still a noob 😂 If you go back to the start of the channel you’ll see it’s all documented :)
Would be interested to buy a fully refurbished ps2 fat and ps3 for my collection if that’s possible mate
I told you! you been to lucky recently :D
Hi Joey! Can I sequester your skills to fix me a cheap series x and ship it to the us???? I'll pay!!!
Good try you can't win them all lol
Let's GO

I think you need new gloves.🤷🏻♂️
WHY DO YOU DONT CLEAN THE BOARD FIRST OF THE 3rd SWITCH 🤨🤨🤨🤨 hajaja
another fine vid from a pro 😃
I suppose it the screens are still good you could break even or still be in profit ?
