I recommend staying at Staniel Cay Yacht Club. If you stay in a bungalow it includes a 13ft. skiff or 17ft. skiff. It's a perfect way to explore the Exumas. Sandy Cay had the best kiting.
We went twice. Loved it. I see your Chat N Chill experience looked nice. It was so crowded when we went, we hated it and just couldn't wait to get back to our basically private beach.
Nice! We definitely plan on going back there again :) We went to Chat N Chill about an hour before the water taxi service closed for the day, so we must have missed the crowds
@@OurKiteLife seariously you guys are really good at it. The video edits and commentary is spot on. Not too long not too short, just enough of everything (kiting, travel, real talk, experience, other placed to see, etc.) You guys put some work into this and have great "story", clips, edits, background music, travel info, entertainment etc. If they are not already these should definitely be classified as business trips because now I want to travel, see the same spots and visit the restaurants. I'm looking forward to seeing your channel grow! Thanks again for the content!
Thanks! It is a lot of work, but very enjoyable work! We're glad to hear the balance of info was good - that was something we were striving for with this video. Thanks for your support, we appreciate it!! Hope you have a happy new year :)
What’s not to love about your vlogs, awesome. Stunning location but a dream, until then, it’s cold old Camber Sands and the Beast from the East Part 2. Xxx
Thanks! This trip came out to be just over $2000 CAD pp, which is definitely on the high end - but most of our trips aren't even close to that much. Cayo Guillermo & Hatteras help balance our travel budget out but are still great kite trip options
The Exumas are a truly spectacular kiting destination for the winter months. December - February has the best wind, but you should pack big kites. Make sure you check the tide logs and know if it is ebbing/flooding and the currents. We used Staniel Cay as our home base for a week. Lots of big yachts with jet skis and 30 ft skiffs for shuttling people to "Pig Beach". What we enjoyed most was renting a skiff with a guide and exploring the cays north of Staniel. Pipe Cay and Pipe Creek in particular has gin clear water with amazing kiting -- on a high tide. The sand is the softest/whitest I've ever felt. Snorkel at "The Acquarium" near Little Ponds Cay.
Thanks! A week was definitely not long enough for us to see all the amazing spots Exuma has to offer. We'll keep these spots in mind when planning our next trip to Exuma :)
Before heading to Exuma we were told by a friend who kites there a lot that we would see sharks there and we did three times (not during kiting). Once during paddling back from Moriah Cay, once on the dock, and the other time when we went swimming with them at Compass Cay. With that said, they were all earth sharks - non aggressive type.
Love the video, congrats! I am going to Exuma in Dec and would love to go kiting at Moriah Harbour Cay. I can’t find where the exact launch spot is. Would you kindly point me in the right direction, ideally share a Lat/Lon or a spot on the map? Thx, Niek.
Hey Niek, check out Man-o-war Cay on Google Maps. We paddled over from our cottage “Rolle Town Retreat” just south of Haulover Bay Bar & Grill Restaurant. Hope that helps. Enjoy your trip to Exuma :)
We generally fly foil kites most of the time, but they also pack much smaller than LEIs. We do have a smaller LEIs for high wind days but didn't get the chance to use them on this trip
apparently you need to email the ministry of aviation (or smth like that) 1 month before you arrive, all we got was a registration paper work. We got lucky they never asked us about whether we have a drone or not as they focused on our paddle boards. The couple we were with, got asked if they had a drone or not. In the end we just got lucky.
We did our grocery shopping at Exuma Market in George Town. Selection was OK - able to get most of the food we were looking for. Food is expensive there period, so if you can pack some basics (like pasta, tea/coffee, snacks), you'll save some money that way. We didn't eat out very often - we had a great meal at Shirley's. Heard great things about Big D's, but they didn't have fresh conch when we were there and our meals were just alright. We also went to Tropic Breeze in Little Exuma - nice spot, portions were large, food was pretty good.
@@OurKiteLife yeah I've been reading up on a few sites food cost is much higher since everything gets shipped in. I plan on packing stuff in our luggage to bring down to help reduce that cost. Did you guys use a high/low tide chart when you guys were there, or just kinda went kite surfing whenever?
we did use a high/low tide chart, especially when paddling over and kiting at Moriah Harbour Cay. The tides make a huge difference in conditions, and ability to easily transport our gear, etc
You should have a contest and give your subscribers an opportunity to go on KB adventures with you all! We of course will need to bring our own bags of cash to keep up with you🤣
jason kay Yes a common mistake by foreigners. The Bahamians pronounce “Cay” just as we would the word Key. My husband spent many years traveling in the Bahamas (20 years)
Great video! Do you remember where you launched your sup's when you were at Moriah Harbour? Public boat launch? I will be in the area and plan on doing the same.
Love it. How about Island safety. I love Bermuda for its safety but as I have traveled the Caribbean, there are safe islands and not. I just not a fan of pan-handling or theft. Kite equipment is expensive and that could ruin a great trip.
Thank you! We felt as though Exuma was quite safe. The people were very friendly and kind. We never saw anything suspicious or heard of any crime. We left our paddleboards across the island for several hours while we kited and never had an issue. Another instance was picking up our rental car - it was parked at the airport for us on arrival with the key inside - and we drove to the office to do the paperwork. Similar experience getting the key to the house. The people there are very trusting, and we believe that's for good reason.
That’s awesome. Thank you. I definitely with consider a trip there. Although the bucket list is the Maldives, it will be a very expensive trip. Exuma looks a lot like it. And definitely more affordable.
❤ Beautiful Bahamas. Yes Exuma waters are just Beautiful. The waters are to die for. My Beautiful Country.
Great shots and very informative, hope to visit someday! The pigs definitely know where it's at, lol
the pigs have it made, that's for sure :D
The pigs made our day, and also our breakfast the next morning X-D

Great vlog guys! They just keep getting better and better!
Thanks Ted! :)
Great video. Getting better and better.
Thank you!
Very helpful info for planning a trip to Exuma, and good reviews of things to do. Hopefully more than 4/7 windy days when I get there :)
Thanks! Hopefully the same is true for us. Aiming to go for 10 days next time though!
Quality vlog. Super informative and some great shots! Great job guys.
Thank you! We're happy you enjoyed it!
I think you found your calling... Kite travel videos!! Amazing video!
We would gladly make kite travel videos full time if we could! :D

looks like one of the best spots for beginners, shallow water and possibly a lagoon
Yes, it is pretty beginner friendly. Mostly shallow water, clear sandy bottom and lots of room :) There are some areas with a bit of a current though!
looks like so much fun! thanks for the info!
thanks so much! it was a lot of fun, we highly recommend it :)
really helpful video!
glad you liked it

Thanks! Haha, yeah - not a bad idea ;)
All that litter in paradise broke my heart

OBX @ kiteborn is about 5 hrs. To Rodanthe for me. Happy New Year!
Nice! It's about 14 hours of driving for us. Planning on being there first week of May. Maybe we'll see you there? :)
Thanks for this - super helpful :)
No problem - glad you like it!
Great info many thanks guys

Great Video, i am hoping to take a Bahama Kite Trip Soon but to Abaco's. Do you need to worry about sharks in Bahama's?

Hi great video. Do you recall what the wind speeds where when you were riding?
15 to 20 knots
I'm so glad that you commented on a Jake Kelsick video. That's how I "found" you. :D
That's awesome, thanks for letting us know :D We definitely look up to Jake - he's a leader when it comes to kite videos!

nicer

@@OurKiteLife Great thanks!
The french is my personal favorite region to go to in the european countries!
Awesome video! When is the best time to kite in Exuma?
Thanks! The best time to kite is when it's windy ;)
Our Kite Life wow, so much insight into kiting 😁
Did your Coastal Adventure happen to line up with a no wind day, or were you able to book short notice?
We booked short notice as to not miss a windy day :)

Beautiful. But seems like way too much work to kite
That’s fair - it’s definitely not for everyone! It’s a bit of a trek to get to the best spot, but for us it was worth it every time
