  • In December 2018 we traveled to Exuma, Bahamas for an epic kiteboarding trip! We had to SUP to the kite spot but it was worth it to get to this kiteboarding paradise! Enjoy!

    Fantastic vlog. All too often you get video of perfect flat water and never see what it's like when the tide isn't optimal. Also the getting there part was great. Nice to see you kite in a water temp above 20deg C. I do feel a bit guilty when our lowest temp is about 18deg C. Your commitment level is high 👍

    Hey guys. Great video!! I did a downwinder from Fowl Cay (just north from where you were) to the Chat & Chill's on Stocking Island....love that Exuma area. You should also try Rolleville, up NW end of the island.

    • @OurKiteLife
      @OurKiteLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Nigel! That downwinder sounds amazing - we may have to replicate it next time :) We kited at Cocoplum Beach up in Rolleville one day. It's a nice spot, but Moriah Cay/Man O War was our favourite!

    Cool spot! Good work team. Why didn't you kite to and from the riding spot every time?..All I know is I HATE carrying all my gear from the car to the waters edge, if I had to transport it, on a SUP, through water, I'd be super annoyed.

    • @OurKiteLife
      @OurKiteLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! The beach in front of our house was a pretty small and sketchy launch spot that didn't lend itself to self launching, so someone would've been left to cross alone on SUP. Also, we just had too much stuff - camera gear, drone, multiple kites, food, beer, lol. When Yuri kited back it was gusty with lots of wind shadows too. We knew what we were getting into though, so we had prepared mentally in advance for the transport :D

    If you ever do get down to the islands off Venezuela such as Los Roques and Margarita the Kitesurfing company down there has all the latest equipment options so that you don’t have to bring your own. At least that was the case several years ago when I went. Makes it convenient and easier to travel. Check out some of the images online. Hard to get a better place on earth to kite surf.

    • @OurKiteLife
      @OurKiteLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It looks stunning! We did a catamaran cruise in the Grenadines a couple of years ago and they supplied the gear (at an additional cost to the trip). It's nice not having to take all the extra baggage when possible! :)

    • @OurKiteLife
      @OurKiteLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! We briefly looked into renting a boat but didn’t find any inexpensive options at the time so we opted to bring SUPs. Would’ve definitely been more convenient!

  • @sizzler360er

    Great video. This place is beautiful. Reminds me of Cook Islands. I wonder if taking a small boat would be a better idea. Great stuff. Was it expensive?

    • @OurKiteLife
      @OurKiteLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! We looked into renting a small boat but couldn't find an option that worked for the area we were staying. Even with the extra baggage fees, bringing our paddleboards was the most cost effective option. Some cottages in the area do come with kayaks though, so that could've worked as well! It wasn't too expensive for us, but we kept our accommodation simple and ate out only a few times. It can easily add up though if you want it too!

    Hey guys, I see u all got both Flysurfer Souls and Speed5s, would pls compare them briefly in terms of hang time, lift, re-launching, user-friendliness? Cheers

    • @OurKiteLife
      @OurKiteLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Berk, honestly both kites are great. Speed5 has a classic foil feel while the Soul has a more direct LEI-like feel to it. I used the Speed5 12m mostly in Exuma, and I did not feel like switching to the Soul until the loops came into place. Soul loops/turns faster and better in my opinion. I feel like the Speed5 has more hang time and raw power, but when it comes to user friendliness and re-launch, the Soul wins. We have several Flysurfer die-hard fans at our local beach switching to the Soul just because of user friendliness alone.

    I was just wondering why you use foil kites instead of inflatable kites? Have any answers for me?

    • @OurKiteLife
      @OurKiteLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of our local crew use foil kites for over a decade now. We have used foils since 2007. Usually winds are very light and gusty here in Toronto and in those conditions the large foil kites out-perform inflatables in our experience. We do own inflatables for higher wind range (7m and 9m).
