    MY CHALLENGE TO YOU: choose your three favorite colors and try this exercise! Paint florals with me or maybe try something you'd like to try. Let me know what three colors you choose and what you're painting for this exercise, I LOVE hearing what you guys are up to. Happy painting!

      I'm looking for ideas to paint some cards for the card giving charity. This tutorial is right up my street, you didn't make it too complicated & great idea with only 3 colours. I'd choose Al.Crimson, Ultramarine blue & light yellow, W&N prof. watercolours. Flowers are my favourite subject too. Thank you very much. 💖🎨👏

    Ah Jenna my lovely lady, how do you do it - I've been feeling a touch (ha ha) anxious as we've got some big and stressful projects going on, saw my anxiety was getting the better of me (so inefficient, it doesn't HELP anything!) and put my mental health stabilisers in place (Pilates, meditation, walking, Spanish and of course...). MADE myself put half an hour in the calendar to paint a happy floral card for my sister in law. Not only did I feel the joy flood back in, enjoying your beautiful video and 'company', and more joy when I look at it this morning with the cheerful colours, I also know it will bring joy to another lovely lady. Jenna, you're golden, girl, and of course so is your lovely husband making this all possible. Have a wonderful day xxx

      @@JennaRaineyChannel and Mary, I don't think it's your viewers at all, as I've heard there are some little darlings who put out "bots" which automatically put thumbs down on most of the popular videos as soon as they're issued. It's nothing remotely personal but is distressing. The bot thing was outed on some of the papercraft and polymer clay channels I follow. So please be reassured :)

    I’m on Day 9 of your book Everyday Watercolor and I was having a terrible time trying to create the beautiful, organic petal shapes on pages 67 and also the more rounded, blue leaves on page 69. I went hunting through your videos for some guidance, and this one was most helpful. Thank you for breaking down this most simple shape! I know this is still the easier part of the book, so I’m trying not to be discouraged. I’ve nearly mastered the more pointy leaves, but the rounded tips of the petals are still a challenge for me.

    • @JennaRaineyChannel
      @JennaRaineyChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jaime, thanks for sharing some of your process. Definitely don't be discouraged! It took me many years to get to where I am, and every time I paint I try and learn something new. Enjoy the process and even if you make a mistake or you're unhappy with the outcome, just take it as a learning experience. I'll keep putting out more videos that will hopefully help you as you work through my book! Take care and happy painting! ❤️

    I haven’t used these colours too much , I was inclined to use ultramarine, cadmium yellow and alizarin crimson. This is my first kick at the can doing flowers as I always did land and seascapes I live in Nova Scotia, Canada and we only have to drive 50 miles to get to ocean, maybe that is why. I am enjoying doing the flowers and leaves using your 3 colours. You are an inspiring teacher. Thank you.

    I would have thought greys (let's not neglect pigeons & elephants!) to be the easiest colours to mix but they're surprisingly difficult! Black and grey aren't included in my paint set but with your help I'm now getting there with indigo, alizarin and a dash of lemon which is very satisfying. Starting a painting notebook so I can replicate colours found by accident, also starting work on a colour chart which is opening new doors. Thank you as always Jenna

    I'm definitely going to try this!!! I'm using Corman W&N watercolors while I learn all the techniques. Just one question: you're not worries about the colors mixing wet on wet and creating sort of veins? Like in the pink flower you just did? It happens to me a lot :(

    • @JennaRaineyChannel
      @JennaRaineyChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A lot of times I love the wet-on-wet action and want it to happen! But if I'm not wanting that effect, I'm just paying attention to my water control, and if there's a blend that I didn't want (or if hard lines are coming), I'll soak it up with a dry brush or paper towel.

      The idea is to choose three warm primaries and also three cool primaries. For example Daniel Smith French ultramarine, transparant pyrrol orange and hansa yellow deep for the warm primaries. Hansa yellow light, quin rose and pthalo blue (gs) for the cool primaries. If you stick within either the cool or warm for your secondary and tertiaries you will not create muddy colors. Except of course if you intend to and try every possible combination! Have fun with it!

    HI Jenna, just wondering, where and how do you file away all your previous paints? Presumably you tear them off the block...

    • @JennaRaineyChannel
      @JennaRaineyChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tear them off the block and it depends on what the painting was for... if it's for a licensing job, I will scan it and most likely tuck it on a wall hang thing that I have. If I paint for a TH-cam tutorial, often I give them away to my viewers.

Is this something you would be interested in demonstrating? I'm not sure it's really your style but I thought I would ask. I have searched and watched so many tutorials but they aren't giving me quite what I want so I am asking artists I follow the most for the heck of it. Thank you for your consideration. Take care.
