This clutch basket turned out to be a production replacement unit for the previous models ( 2002-2012). I now payed more attention and found one of these style with a casting date from 2009. For whatever reason these were not used exclusively for production and replacement, both castings were available. Maybe testing the new specifications? Most new 2012 DL 1000 bikes have the early style casting, but I have had at least two that have the casting in the video above. These were both later build units. At any rate they are showing wear similar to the early castings, maybe not as early.

Yes, there is another video on my WERKS Parts LLC channel that goes over the actual 2014 clutch basket 21200-31Y10. It is a direct replacement for the earlier model DL 1000 clutch baskets. However, both still have the same design problems that allows internal wear. The WERKS modifications fix these problems. We do modifications to brand new baskets, or good used core baskets.
This is what I get to answer from those in Norway who sell the Clutch Basket here in Norway: Have checked with the technical manager of the suzuki importer to Norway, and according to him, it's a good thing for the 2014 model's clutch basket not to fit your 2006 model. There is a transitional number on the clutch basket that is for your bike, ie it has come as an upgraded part, so it is most likely made improvements to it, but neither we, importer nor suzuki have data on what has been done. Art: 21200-06811 (gml.nr: 21200-06810) for the 2006 model, Art: 21200-31Y10 to 2014 model,
They may not know what has been done to these parts. I DO know what has been done. It is natural for them to state that the later model basket isn't recommended as a replacement. They do have a part number for the earlier models. It works just fine. BUT, the later 2014 and newer is a superior design. The ONLY difference is the design of the top or outer plate. The "recommended" part number for your 2006 has the conventional, lighter duty top plate. The 2014 and newer has a heavier duty design based on the SV 1000 top plate. Since that is the ONLY difference, and it does not affect fitment, why would you not want to buy the better part? They are more or less the same cost.
