You can see so much of Shawn Michaels in Tully Blanchard, even now. Watching Tully’s old promos he was always the suave, handsome, arrogant heel and if you look at Shawn in 1992 when he first turns, his facial expressions, and aura is so Tully.
He hit the nail on the head about how the NWA/WCW thrived with heel champions (Flair and the Horsemen) who helped build up the babyfaces while the WWF/WWE thrived with babyface champions who for the most part (especially during Hogan's reign) ending beating the hot new heel at the time. You can especially see it when guys like Ravishing Rick Rude left the WWF for WCW and became more successful in ring wise while guys like Vader left WCW for WWF and hardly had any success at all. It all boils down to how each company treated babyfaces and heels differently booking wise, for the most part.
The McMahons (Jr. and Sr.) never believed in heels as long-time champions, but rather just in a transition role. It's really a problem or ineptitude, but just a certain kind of booking philosophy. That obviously changed somewhat with HHH in 2000, but that was a fairly unique circumstance.
In 1987 the organization was still Jim Crockett promotions and part of dying N.W.A governing body of promoters, the company didn't become W.C.W until Ted Turner purchased it in 88,but was referenced as wcw in 1991.
Listen to what, Tully says from 2:27 - 3:22. This proves why fans believe that wrestling was fake. Sure, they were injured at times during certain types of matches, but the motivation behind the injuries were never intentional. So, these ''wrestlers'' need to stop getting offended when a fan says it was ''fake''.
Agreed, Windham was a great technician and natural heel who fit in perfectly with Flair, Arn, and Tully. Lex Luger was much better as a babyface foil for the Horsemen IMO.
flair, arn, tully and barry windham was and always will be the best 4 horseman group there ever was. benoit, malenko and pillman were good, but they didn't have what windham and tully had.
Yes it was, when Barry Windham turn heel and join the Horsemen it was the best version of the group. Luger didn’t fit in with them because he didn’t go out to parties in all but fans were cheering for him then he was a horsemen and it was the right time to turn him baby face at the end of 1987 because JCP was going to make Luger their next big star and was going to be their Hulk Hogan.
Christian Boddie Brilliant booking by the late American Dream Dusty Rhodes. Big Dust understood the hotter the heel the hotter the face is. That's why the Horsemen were so great. They would get over Dust Magnum Wahoo Rock and Roll and it just made them that much hotter. Wrestling scripted or not is not a PG sport
That's funny, out of all the Horsemen I never hated Tully at all. I liked him as much as Flair. At first the ones I hated the most were the Andersons, but they grew on me.
StoneCold98 best thing about the Horsemen was that ability to get someone over immediately. From Sam Houston to Ron Garvin the minute they locked up, the opponent had the right guy across the ring to make them look like the best in the business. 30 years later, still amazing
Only in a short backstab angle in Southwest . He is a natural heel and in my opinion he should have been the person to eventually take the World title off of Magnum TA but we all know how that went to crap
Windham and Luger were more or less the same. Ole was core as well just like JJ. Because both Ole and Tully got the heat as did JJ. Ric could play both but I think they overstate Arn's likeability. He was liked the same way the Midnight Express were liked
Bon Louis You don't know what you're talking about. Tully wasn't lying. Flair Arn and Tully were the core of the Horseman. Ole was always a temporary figure. They didn't need JJ period. Three of the four best wrestlers in the company all three awesome on the mic. Windham way better than Lugar
TheLuscious Ole was in the Horsemen longer than Tully when he took over the JJ role in the 90s. Arn was a good worker but was never an over face. And statistics and crowd reaction suggest Luger was a way bigger deal than Windham.
The POWER OF CHRIST, AND ITS THE TRUTH, You DONT have to be a Square to Love Jesus, Tully was the guy who got me into Pro Wrestling Summer Of 84, not the WWF, that came 2yrs later, when Mr.Wonderful turned on Hogan, then I was Just Hooked on WWF, Still was a NWA/WCW Fan all the way up to the night Vince Bought it, HBK, TULLY, PIPER, SAVAGE, THE ROCK, And Randy ORTON are my all time favorites, btw, Hollywood Rock, was the Best Character the Rock ever Played, too bad they only did it for 4 Months? Tully Should Of been able to return in 89, and We Would Of had the Original Horsemen, Jim Herd is the Worst, WORST, PIZZA HUT, LOL, 🤦♂️

Sean Oliver just knows how to conduct an interview. I am excited to see this one.
Much better than, “Memories of the horsemen.”
Always great to see Ole Anderson get slighted.
2:27 Tully sums up a major problem WWE has had in the past 40 years in trying to build up credible heels.
It also sums up why "Superstar" Billy Grahm was mindfucked so badly when he lost the belt.
MistaTwigz : Mr. Wonderful would have made a great WWF/E Champion.
Eric N Harris him and Rick Rude
+ J.J. Robles: Ravishing Rick Rude? I can see that. Beat The Ultimate Warrior at Summerslam with Warrior regaining the title at survivor Series.

Tully was a great heel.
Tully was the best member of the 4 Horsemen.
Tully's promos were insulting in a creative way.
I have several Tully shoot interviews and I kind of wished that this one was like a signature edition with Tully's autograph included...
Would love to hear Tully do a commentary about Southwest Championship Wrestling.
No doubt, Tully Blanchard was the true HEEL of the Four Horsemen.
Tully was a great heel
Great job Kayfabe! One of your most interesting shoot in a long time ✌
Good to see Tully looking healthy.
AverageO He still wrestles on occasion and looks good
In 1987 the organization was still Jim Crockett promotions and part of dying N.W.A governing body of promoters, the company didn't become W.C.W until Ted Turner purchased it in 88,but was referenced as wcw in 1991.
The McMahon's never believed in heel champions except in a transitional role. That somewhat changed with HHH, but that was a unique circumstance.
austin was hurt and hhh was banging steph
This is going on with roman these days
Tully talks a lot of sense here in the space of just 5 minutes...
HalcyonPure totally and its only a trailer I can only imagine how long the full shoot is

Tully Blanchard, #1 heel of all time.
IMHO the horsemen with barry windham was much better than with lex luger.
JERMAINE ROBINSON Not gonna argue that
Agreed, Windham was a great technician and natural heel who fit in perfectly with Flair, Arn, and Tully. Lex Luger was much better as a babyface foil for the Horsemen IMO.

Tully is my favorite heel of all time
chris zaucha Like Shawn Michaels said Tully was the first cool bad guy in wrestling.
I have a shirt just like Tully's. Tully is a good man.
Get Bill Watts for WCW 1992 as well as Guest Booker on what he had planned for WCW it he didn't leave.
I'd watch those
Im surprised they havent done that yet,id actually like to see how Watts would have booked under the same regime as Hogan.
Tully Blanchard best heel ever
Again brilliant booking, Heel champions always work better. The NWA had some of the best heels of all time.
He's still a heel, he just pronounced it "Nuke-u-lus"
That's funny, out of all the Horsemen I never hated Tully at all. I liked him as much as Flair. At first the ones I hated the most were the Andersons, but they grew on me.

kinda weird to see Tully with what looked like a beer since he became a preacher sometime ago
lol what? Preachers drink beer too. They sin probably more than most of us.
docthemetalfreak green Perrier bottle, for the record
sorry for the mistake. good to see that Tully sticks to being clean n sober even to this day.
Great interview and he did his job well
He wasn't "good" at it. He was "GREAT" at being a heel!
Tessa is hot
Love Tully
Tully should be training guys and gals at nxt.
Did Tully ever work face?
Bryan8329 never a face in any promotion.
Cobretti20001 Didn't even start out as one?
Only in a short backstab angle in Southwest . He is a natural heel and in my opinion he should have been the person to eventually take the World title off of Magnum TA but we all know how that went to crap
1995 ECW against Shane Douglas. He was the face against Stan Lane at the infamous Heroes of Wrestling PPV.
frank bonini
Umm, WCW wasn't around in the 80's so the title doesn't make sense.
Tully looks like Fornell
Everybody is afraid of heat..
Windham and Luger were more or less the same. Ole was core as well just like JJ. Because both Ole and Tully got the heat as did JJ. Ric could play both but I think they overstate Arn's likeability. He was liked the same way the Midnight Express were liked

Ans the Lord saved the heel.
he looks like a grandpa lol
