  • I finally bagged the new 2020 Silverado! This is something I have been wanting to do for a while but I just never got around to it, and with winter coming up I want this truck to be as ready as possible for whatever we throw at it!

    I wonder if that little compressor you have onboard now could also be set up with some sort of airline that can be used for airing up tires if you need to. That might be overkill but it would still be super cool to have.

    • @ferdinand9103

      Imo I dont think that little compressor would have enough beans to air up tires but who knows really

      @@ferdinand9103 I wouldn't have thought a compressor that small could either, but a week ago I bought this super cheap tiny compressor to deal with a slow leak in my crappy tires and its tiny and somehow still does the job. Although truck tires have a lot more volume so I'm not sure how a pump like that would hold up the one I got for my car can unfortunately only add about 3psi a minute which is painfully slow. This compressor I have is literally the size of a soup can through its rediculous.

    Air bags are a definite improvement to eliminate sag. However they still don't return the weight back to the front axles with the trailer hooked up. Your rear axle is still acting as a fulcrum. The only way to accomplish this is with a weight distribution hitch. I run both to make sure the proper weight is returned to the front axles to retain proper braking and steering control, especially in wet conditions. Not as critical if you don't tow that often with lighter loads. But I tow alot, often maxing out the tow capacity of the truck and for long distances. Just a point to be mindful of.

    if you get a MTB air pump you can easily use it instead of a compressor to fill air bags with 7-10 pumps. its so easy and saves a lot of money. Ive used it on a range rover that has 4 separate fill valves. also, if you use a compressor with outside air, buy a new descant bead and filter kit every 2 years and also can buy refurb kits. if you need to disconnect a line, cut 1/3" off end of line and press in completely to ensure a clean connection. so ensure you leave extra line where lines connect to bags or valve blocks. Air suspension is the best. I have it on 3 cars/trucks and its the best ride of all.

    One hack I learned about when towing a trailer is to inflate your rear tires to their maximum pressure. (I assume most of you knew that, but I didn’t). It makes a hell of a difference, especially through the big bumps when the trailer tries to try to pull itself off.

    I completely understand the rear bags leveling out the truck from "squatting". My question is ... if I were to buy a 2022 silverado 2500 2WD, would I be able to install a set of bags that would help with the "squatting" problem BUT ALSO allow me to lower the truck a bit to make it easier to load/unload motorcycles in back of bed? I load bikes regularly, and with the tailgate down, the newer silverados are HIGH off the ground and difficult to walk/step up into the bed from the ground. But if I could somehow "lower" the truck while I load it, and then set the truck at proper ride height & roll out, that would be good. Possible?

    • @dsshowerpan
      @dsshowerpan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You would have to lower the rear of the truck so without air the rear is the angle you want it. Wouldn't recommend it.
