Yeah it's about time Pete, although I wanted to smash the blockwork out yesterday but it rained on and off all day 😭
Fatsia Japonica is a nice evergreen plant for Japanese style gardens. Can be trained to grow as a tree or left as a bush. Big evergreen leaves and has random flowers late autumn.
Comes in many varieties, I like Spiderweb and Polycarpa.

Good progress Matt. You could look at dwarf pines and bamboo for Japanese garden, but be careful what bamboo as some will spread all over your garden - stick to ones with a name starting Fargesia and you’ll be good.
I'll look into them, thanks David. I wondered that with bamboo. Do you think if I was to leave them in pots and Bury them it would stop them from spreading?
@@koicentralofficial - yes, or you can get root barrier to sink into the ground around them, but just avoid the running varieties, ie phylostachys (think that’s the right spelling) and stick to Fargesia as they’re clump forming. 👍

Ok Matt great to see you got started on the qt & grow on. Weather looking good from end this week onwards. As for plants get some black mondo grass / Japanese painted ferns / acres green for sunny areas & red for shaded areas. Black stem bamboo /yellow stem bamboo/ red stem bamboo.mugo pines Japanese paper tree. There’s a hole host of plants mostly ever greens
Cheers Tom, that's some list, will defo have a look at them. Have got a few acers already and definitely want some bamboo! Planning on smashing the blockwork this weekend so I hope you're right with rhe forecast 🤞👍
Forecast is good hot weather in a few weeks is on its way 🤗🤗🤗also if you have a shaded area that’s a little moist hostas are a must especially in a Japanese style garden 👍

Morning Matt. Great to see that you are underway with the next pond and now the area is cleared, there will be no stopping you !!! Hope your fish are all good too buddy. Oh and watch your back, I've done a project of clearing an area, moving and replanting shrubs , and moving 800kg of chale, bulk bag from Bradfords. Also making a retaining wall from boulders etc, and I've been suffering with my back all this week 😃.
