With Herrera we'll be able to play tree simulator instead of bush simulator for some hours which is a great change of pace. But outside of jokes, Herrera really is something to be excited for to give Isle the more nieche playstyle it desperately needs and renew the gameplay. Probably the only carni I'll main outside of Ptera and Bary

I feel as if any carnivore that's supposed to be a scavenger by design should be able to eat Magyarosaurus without the poison effect. Just a few scavengers like Ceratosaurus and Hererrasaurus, but it should be expanded. After all, Hererrasaurus is way too small to effectively hunt a Magyarosaurus and I especially don't think it would be more effective with more players.
They could have used something like deinonychus for this playstyle, since they already probably were arboreal in real life, however it's nice seeing a lesser known theropod in the game, and this concept is interesting nonetheless.
I imagine they will heavily nerf the Herrera's speed to balance out tree climbing. If they allow it to continue to be a speed demon on top of semi-invulnerability in trees, they will pretty much be untouchable all over the Isle, becoming vermin that will be a nuisance to all sorts of dinosaurs as there is nothing stopping them from grabbing a bite from a Stego or Carno to dash away at blazing speed and up a tree. If they have an average running speed, it will encourage them to stick to the forests which I would like as biome preference should play a bigger part of the game.
Imagine walking through the jungle as a human and you hear scratching noises in the tree and as soon as you look up the last thing you see is a Herrera leaping at you.
People dont give herra as much credit as it deserves in legacy. Its broke for sure, but they can take down a lot more than people put credit for. With its speed, bite force, and speed it can tople a fer mid tiers in legacy, such as carno. With some practice you can kill a lot as herra, which includes : utah, dilo, sub apexs, carno, sucho, pachy, and if skilled enough allo. Ive done this myself , and have killed some of these myself as herra.
Honestly Herra is probably the dinosaur I’m currently most excited to see put in game. While acro and Alberto are my favorite carnivores, herra is a cool dinosaur irl. But, it’s definitely the tree climbing mechanic I love the most. The idea of a small semi-a boreal predator is awesome! You could laze around in the trees when not hunting, pounce on unsuspecting prey, and escape danger. I think it’ll be really fun
Its going to be difficult as hell to pull off a assassin attack from the trees as a Herrera, so I imagine it wont work 99% of the time and people will be left just chasing their prey around on ground. like how rare is it going to be to have someone standing perfectly still under a tree for you to drop down on?
noooo! haha they are ruining my fav speedyboi... I love playing Herr since nobody can catch me, and I can wait for a body to be abandoned for a couple bites since herr doesnt get very hungry often. I do like the "nip a bite off a dino and run away" tho. we will see it again at some point but it will be quite a while, as it's a really minimal 2ndary carnivore and low low priority. herrera is underrated imho

I didn't pay much attention to this guy when he came out but after watching your concept analysis I think i'll main this guy along with Spino. Herra will be a versatile ninja class whose weak spot will be raptors, who have pounce and greater speed, forcing him to rely on aerial ambush when engaging them.
In Ceratosaurus's concept we can see it eating what looks like a rotting Stego, perhaps Herrera will indeed be a scavenger and have direct competition with Ceratos.

Demonic looking protomammal. The dewlap doesnt serve a function, but it does make it look more interesting. Its a good reptiley design choice for an early dinosaur. I think its a good thing. That just adds to the design, rather than takes away from it (magy). Every new or even speculative feature doesnt need a gameplay function. The hypsi doesnt need its bright colours for gameplay, but it makes sense for it to have because of how it works and shows what its about. Here it works too because it shows herrera as more reptile like, but I'd argue also suits it arboreal nature because lots of arboreal lizards also have a dewlap. Again showing what its about. One of the best new designs imo.
Pterosaurs are going to be able to climb and latch, and I think hypsi is supposed to be able to climb trees too. I highly doubt herra will be the sole climber. So it’ll have atleast a couple things to hunt.
