Man your basenjis are amazing! I am so jealous of how well trained they are. I wish you could help me train mine lol. The youngster won’t listen to anyone or do anything unless she wants to and while the other is more willing to listen to people he is not extremely bright. And they both have issues with listening when there are other animals around. Any tips for helping a basenji get used to being bathed in a tub? One of my basenjis is so against baths that not even treats will distract them.

I believe the key success factor for me was getting the dogs to earn their food from young age, so they are very food driven! for baths, if the dog already formed negative association with it, you can try breaking that association very slowly - first by rewarding them for just being next to the tub (dont put the dog in yet), once comfortable with that after few days, put the dog in an empty tub and lots of treats for just being there (no water), once good with that, introduce water very weak jet just for paws, and again lots of treats (likimat with a suction cup is great, or just smear peanut butter over the tub side), then transition to proper bath. always lukewarm water temperature. its easier said than done with a dog who already hates baths, but you can try! good luck 😊
