Robert Smith was played by Bruce Leddy who was the writer/director of MTV's Half Hour Comedy Hour at the time. That was his real hair, teased up and sprayed black. The sketch was completely ad-libbed with another writer Vern Mackall who plays the builder guy.
@vladdt Me too. I don't think he'd like it though...he doesn't like to be thought of as a gloomy guy. "I've always spent more time with a smile on my face than not,but the thing is,I don't write about it."-Robert
For people trying to comment on this video, and not seeing their comments come through: sorry, but I have no idea what's going on! I get the notices, but then I don't see the comments here nor do I see them available in my "waiting for approval" feed. I appreciate the comments and I'm not trying to block everybody, I swear!
@jhchouston, I typically disable the ratings by default whenever I upload a video, mainly because at some point my account was being hit by somebody with a script or something that voted thumbs-down (or as it was back when I uploaded this, "1 star") to things I'd upload, hundreds of times. But thank you anyway! Glad you enjoyed the clip.
I usually hate parodies about Robert Smith but this one really made me laugh my lungs off xD. Love it.
"Next week we'll look at Ozzy's flat where he's building an aviary for his bats." xDDDD
