Jesus Christ I will NEVER get over this scene. I seen this movie when i was 13 and I'm now a 20 year old film major and I KNOW this movie played a hand in that.
They did :-) Unfortunately the only album available on iTunes, is the soundtrack album. And most of the tracks are just straight pulled out from the movie. So no "real" full album. But the music was recorded on stage by the actors! ... fucking amazing! haha love this "band". #findfrank
You could check out stuff like Captain Beefheart which this was based off of (Trout Mask Replica is their most weird so... try that if you want weird) and specifically the song "The End" by The Doors comes to mind
this is the best it will get. it's their perfect moment, shared, fought for. and it's only possible because none of them actually realize it will be the greatest echo of their lives. we all have this moment. we all miss it the first time 'round, except those wild few who make the best of it possible for the rest of us.
@@nickdryad I'd say Secure The Galactic Parameter in particular channels Spiritualized more since it's more of a space rock feel. I do agree that there are some other residents-like parts of the movie. Part of the reason it's so great is because it takes inspiration from several outsider musicians.
smartaleci I just looked up Soft Machine. Thanks for the recommendation. I’m going spend some time listening to them. Bands that push out to the furthest corners....that’s what I’m looking for. Thanks.
nickdryad I also recommend Sonic Youth. And maybe Ween. Definitely start with the ‘hits’. They should show up first. They both have TONS of songs. Just quickly skip through anything that’s ‘less awesome’ right away.
dab88 you have a musical ear! That change gives me the goosebumps! Especially the emotion when dude says "yeaaahhhh". I also love the Indian whoop she does
This was my favorite scene. At any given time, you can hear me or my husband yell GET OUTT' THE PATH OF THE KING! Clara's disdain for the ukulele later in the movie is right on too X'D
Through the portals Comet tails Screeching frequencies Of pulsing infinities Awake in the hive Where the sap is collected The process perfected The galactic siren sounds Down the dimensions of Curled-up strings inside the point Get out of the path Of the king, Mr Laurel Get out of the path Of the king, Mr Hardy Regret, get off out The path of the king They will not be able to Attend tonight's dinner The supernova outshone! Get out of the path of the king Yeah! Saddle up Secure the galactic perimeters Weak and strong, nuclear bonds Now what's together Will soon come apart When it's all over No back to the start
After seeing this movie. Not only is it on my top favorite movies of all time but this scene is easily earns in my top 10 favorite scenes ever... I'm a huge music fan especially with experimental and jusy how it builds up and pays off is so epic.
The movie would had been even more amazing if the entire film was like this and we actually followed this band on an entire tour. It Would have been a long movie but a crazy ass hell of a ride nonetheless!!
It seems something like Radiohead from the album KID A. Give it a listen (especially to the song "The National Anthem") if you don't know it yet, you could enjoy it :)
Guitar is such an integral part of this movie, yet I don't remember seeing their guitarist at all. It doesn't fucking matter! The galactic siren sound! Usually, in the movies, movie made music sucks. Frank is something else. Perfect package. From visuals to sound. I loved the music in this film. I also loved musical chemistry between the actors. It took me back so many times just hearing how they all sync so well.
If you have not checked out "The Devil and Daniel Johnston" please do. This band/movie is an amalgam of Frank Sidebottom, Captain Beefheart and of course Daniel Johnston.
for me, the most emotionally rewarding last scene of a film since Watership Down. The Texas scenes feel wrong but apart from that everything is beyond perfect. And to Dom`s credit, two classics back to back.
thirty-free . . . the toughest lesson there is is you aren't as much as you thought but the perfect thing is we can fight through that and find out what worth we truly are
There have been a number of bands that the vocals sound like the lizard King go take a listen to tsol circa "just leave your flowers by the door" and I swear to god he staged his death and made a brief temporary return to the stage
the Swans definitely kept running through my head while listening to the music of this film. I am actually a bit surprised by how many people have heard of the Swans. My Birth by the Swans comes close to the sound of this song.
Everybody in comments is “I want more music like this. . .” Does not realize this movie is inspired by a real individual. As for sound any gen x garage band ever. . . Especially 88-92.
I think this is one of the best fictional bands in the history of film.
dubitataugustinus Sex-b-omb
Infant Sorrow
Rodrigo Rodfer not even close
dubitataugustinus Ye "The Soronprfbs" from the movie "Frank" and "Münchausen by Proxy" from the movie "Yes Man".
dubitataugustinus Yes! You are right. Also the other bands in the responses are good; and, "Feminist" from Ex-Drummer movie.
Nothing is more pleasing to hear than that "yeah"
It's not on the soundtrack, and it's the saddest thing. I always do my own "Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" to try to make up for it but it's just not the same.
It made me a little teary eyed in retrospect. Poor Don :(
Ugh. Poor Don.
Anthony Stillo When I first saw the film, I almost burst out with the same “Yeeeeeaaaaahh!” at the same time. That they finally found the sound.
He knows he can die now
I like how all of the keyboardists of this band went insane.
Michael was phenomenal as Frank ❤
Micheal Fassbender is a magical unicorn... Didn't think he could play a role like this.
Yeah i didnt think it was him.
Calling ppl unicorns..

right!?? and they dont include it in the soundtrack :(
It's definitely what makes this version better :)
Jesus Christ I will NEVER get over this scene.
I seen this movie when i was 13 and I'm now a 20 year old film major and I KNOW this movie played a hand in that.
Fr this and The Royal Tenenbaums for some reason made me fall in love with movies lmao
Still in the hobbie field but yeah, it played a hand on wanting to be a filmmaker too
This song is so fucking insane! I hate the fact that they're a fictional band, 'cause it sounds like a full Soronprfbs album would've been amazing...
from what i heard the actors actually wrote this stuff, so it kinda exists
They did :-)
Unfortunately the only album available on iTunes, is the soundtrack album. And most of the tracks are just straight pulled out from the movie. So no "real" full album.

I predict a catastrophe Played by the actors. Written by Stephen Rennicks.
You could check out stuff like Captain Beefheart which this was based off of (Trout Mask Replica is their most weird so... try that if you want weird) and specifically the song "The End" by The Doors comes to mind
The Residents are another really weird band if you want to check them out.
genuinely one of the best songs ever i’m so serious rn
I can’t stress enough how genuinely excellent I think this band is
I watched this movie without knowing it was Michael Fassbender as Frank, it was a really cool experience
I think we all do. This is a present to humanity.
Yup i was too. I was flabbergasted when he show his face. Damn he is very good actor!
so fucking good movie ahhhhh this is a movie that i want to forget so i can see it again
PULS ZERO i did just now im watching again

The amazing invisible guitarist......
+The Raddish Patch Gotta love the silent keyboards though. Makes up for it.
LMAO!
One of the best underrated films of our time
I died yesterday.....I went towards the light and Fassbender was there screaming about Galactic perimeters.....I was born again!
This is one my favorite scenes from a film I've ever watched. I wish this was a real band dammit! What Fucking great song!
Are you familiar with The Residents? Same vibe. Out there avant- guard sound from the late 70’s

That's why he yelled yeah!
And the choir that sounds like a siren, in a song about space it just perfect
What is a change?
This scene made me tingly and gave me a chub
This movie makes me what to start my own punk-electronia-art-band
If you do I'll be listening to your music

2:19 this is so cool. the way they’re all so into the music is amazing.
this literally gives me goosebumps everytime.
love this movie, the soronprfbs sound like a mix of psychedelic punk and The Doors

One of my favorites of 2014 but in my opinion the best film of 2014 was Winter Sleep.
Jim Morrison will be proud.

I FINALLY secured the Galactic Perimeter yesterday. I'm so glad I finally got that done! Now I can relax again!
Either this or the "fight scene" near the end was the funniest part of the movie. Gets me every time!

Radiohead meeting Jim Morrison? great great
nah man captain beefheart, and the doors.
***** exactly my thoughts
Yes great great indeed... But Jim was boozed en drugged, way more as Frank, right? So what about similarities with Ian Curtis (joy division)?
E Zandman I thought about Joy Division too, especially considering how Ian Curtis struggled with mental illness.
Ignacio Sánchez good call.....
Scoot McNairy's "YEAAAHHHH!" is exactly how I feel
Does anyone know a band/s that have a sound similar to 2:10 to 2:38. i think i found my favorite mix of genres in music

hard to believe i just discovered this movie in 2020. wow - amazing
I listen to this song like every other day.
"YEAHHHHHH"
If you've got a pulse you said the same thing!
Reminded me (a little) of Pink Floyd a bit. Just a bit. Like a mash between Jim Morrison and Pink Floyd. Careful With That Axe'esque.
Right?!? And I love the Syd Barrett reference near the end of the movie.

Piper at the Gates era Pink Floyd 100%
Fantastic.
Though there is alot of talk about Fassbender ... lets just remember the ultra fantastic, genius, comedian that helped this happen. RIP FRANK!.
