a vote here for you guys always including at least a still photo of a game (in play or set up) when you talk about it. Showing just the box art or logo feels less effective
Ark Nova totally baffles me, Earth took several plays to sort of click with me, but Forest Shuffle is just right and one I look forward to playing again.
Great list, curious about several titles. I'm amazed that you don't seem worn out by games and are still keen to discover new good ones. You see soooo many games after all.
Odin's Ravens is another "big" game in a small box. Highly reccommended! It is a hidden gem that not many know about. The other small box "big" game I love is Ludonaute's first iteration of Yggdrasil. Another phenomenal hidden gem for those who are into Norse mythology. The artwork of the board really blew my mind! Some of the highest quality production I have ever seen. This game has been discontinued for a few years now and is extremely difficult to get brand new and if you do find a sealed copy it is very expensive but well worth the investment for those whol live and breathe Nordic lore and Norse mythology
Wonder how Gosu X compares to Gosu, which I own. It has been a while since I last played it, but I thought the system had potential. Also, lots of pretty art. Played Knarr at PAX. It is definitely on the wishlist.
Definitely one I am thankful to have gotten my hands on! I love The White Castle, and it makes me want to go look into Devir's catalog as well as look into the other ganes made by the designers, but first, more games of White Castle!
I really like the concept of this list. I often think of the ratio of a game's fun to its box size. I just wish we'd get the top 10s of more DT people. I'd especially be interested in Chris's top 10. Also show the actual boxes because some of these don't really qualify as small boxes IMO.
I got Forrest shuffle for my children, based on some of the other recommendations on your site. Great to see this in your video, can’t wait!!!! would it go into your top 100 of all time?
It's a reworking of Resist!, so that makes sense. I personally prefer Witchcraft because I like the theme more and there's a win condition that doesn't involve you just getting a high score
@@JeroenJanseStage Ah, cool. Thanks for the infos. I'll have to think about whether to try this one too, or whether to keep my boardgame hoarding under control.
I agree. I've noticed that they've been mentioning this in reviews more, but it should be on the checklist of things to mention about a game. We all have counts we play with more or less and if a game isn't that good at 2, I really want to know that as that's usually the count I play at. BGG does list the community's recommended player count, but it's nice to hear it from reviewers.
oh come on! You're better than this! give us video sections, at least for each game a pic of the board when set up and underneath the video a list of links for the games. :(

its so important toward knowing if its right for my wife and I or just me, or my game group or none of the above
Absolutely agree, instead of a talking head that game look on a table combined with the description tells so much more.
This is becoming an incredibly important category for me as my collection has exceeded 150 games and I'm running out of room
top 10 big box games to throw away?😅
Check out Oink games if you haven't already. A Japanese company that makes fun, tiny games.

This would be my dream
Been loving Fliptown. It's a fun solo (or multiplayer) sandbox-ey Western theme flip-and-write that gives me that mini-Western Legends vibe.
Title is "Big games in small BOXES" ---- and you don't show the boxes?!? 🤨
Show me the BOX!
“Put your hand in the box”
They’re too small to show on camera!
Dice Tower doesn't have cameras with high enough magnification for Zee's boxes.
They are hidden in Zee's beard, you just have to look closer!
Hope this helps!
I call this type of games "Tardis Games". And i love them.

would love a top 10 of all time not just for 2023! forest shuffle and earth are definitely on my to play lists
I'll be checking out two or three of these. Thanks Zee!
I'd suggest Skoventyr that meets this criteria from 2023.

Played Knarr at PAX. It is definitely on the wishlist.
My #1 for this list is White Castle. I suspect for many who have played the game, as well.

So happy to see Gosu X mentioned. That game does not get the amount of love it deserves!

Knarr is the bomb, I'm not familiar with the others. Thanks for this list, this is a sweet spot of game design I appreciate a lot.
just managed to buy Flip Town 2nd hand, so looking fwd to giving it a try.
Alternatively the PNP version would have been another option
My pick for this year would be Match of the Century
I would've liked to see The White Castle here
or Bamboo or 3-ring circus. Devir was on fire with small box/big games this year
I'd nominate General Orders for this list.
Oooh im interested on Fliptown!
I enjoy Doom Machine a lot. It comes in a little mint tin but it packs a lot of play.
I agree with some comments not showing box vs. banana size comparison is sad for a small box review. We do tend to agree with what Zee likes though.
I'm LOVING Fliptown!!
I wish you'd mention John Company. For a size of a game inside, the box seemed surprisingly small to me.
Well hey, you mentioned it!
Would have been that hard to have shown the size of the boxes in your hands. I thought you guys were professionals.
Love Forest Shuffle!
Oh, my goods!
I found Forest Shuffle (on BGA) with two people took too long, you?
I got Forrest shuffle for my children, based on some of the other recommendations on your site. Great to see this in your video, can’t wait!!!! would it go into your top 100 of all time?
Witchcraft from the description sounds a lot like Resist. Would you say they're alike, and/or one or the other is better?
It's a reworking of Resist!, so that makes sense. I personally prefer Witchcraft because I like the theme more and there's a win condition that doesn't involve you just getting a high score
We discuss our preferences in detail in the Witchcraft review. Some of us liked it better, others didn't! But all agreed both are great.

@@thedicetower I'll check out the review. Thanks!
I would love if ideal player counts for each game were mentioned. Does it work with 2? Sing with 3? I neeeeeed to knoooooooow!😂

Solid list
Hmm maybe just me but i wouldnt consider forest shuffle small box? Seems standard size box to me.
It's a lot, lot, lot smaller than a Ticket to Ride style box. Like 1/6 the size.
Where can you purchase witchcraft! In north america?
25th Century Games will be bringing it stateside later this year.
I miss Cyberion…
Surprised not to see Caper Europe
That was a 2022 game.
So happy you select ❤ Faraway❤
It is on the list.
Dialed-in content. Show the game boxes.
Tiny epic galaxies cône immediately yo mind with this Category. Not a fan of the other of the series though
10 Fat Games in Little Coats
3 little games in a raincoat, in a small box?
Well, we ripped the box.
oh come on! You're better than this! give us video sections, at least for each game a pic of the board when set up and underneath the video a list of links for the games.
:(
Zee looks tired, too lazy to actually show the „small“ boxes.
