And other technology we take for granted now develop. If you tinker with 1911s even a little you recognize his last name.
For all these people bitching about how he has a gun worth thousands or having a "pistol that is so smooth and refined it has a lot less muzzle rise, slide mass and spring tension of a stock pistol" blah blah blah. @@CramcrumBrewbringer yeah, followed by “Competitive shooting tips” 😂😂. I love the fact that you called me a retard like you’re 12 years old, and you were wrong 😂😂😂
Excellent information. I've never heard it explained this way. I use a finger around the trigger guard grip, because I have much more leverage, and control over recoil, while mainly just using my support hand, for grip "strength". This allows my strong hand to stay relaxed, and let's my trigger finger be more fluid. But, what you're describing is to allow the gun to kinda do its thing, so it will recoil consistently straight up, and straight back down. I've got to experiment with this now. Thanks, man. I completely understand what you're saying.
Great video! So you don't recommend having more tension in your support hand than in the strong hand? That's what I've always heard so far to avoid trigger jerking.
I would recommend having a painted line or 2x4 that you can easily tell if your pulling left or right, also could record yourself with a GoPro or something.
Here I am six years later stuffed with pizza watching this to help improve. Two weeks ago I was watching this channel for some long range rifle tips. Some really top level fuss on this channel to learn from how did Todd not take off.
@@HuntEthical actually it can. Shooting a pro gun with special ammunition that presents less recoil transforms shooting a gun in shooting an airsoft. Other game there.
@@meowmix1569 sound like you haven’t shot a gun. These pistols are completely back-weighted with a fucking compensator and they also shoot low P ammo. A normal 9mm gun doesn’t really kick enough to throw you off target, these guns are literally like call of duty shit
Great video, having just tried some practical pistol shooting (I currently shoot IPSC min rifle - we cant have full rifle here i the UK) the second shot placement was my greatest fail, this will help I'm sure, thank you.
Combine this advice with JJ Racazza's advice on not pinning the trigger during recoil, rather reset the trigger during recoil, and you'll have faster follow up shots
There are definitely some Production Division guns that are made for these matches too, like the CZ Shadow 2. They are pretty expensive, at around $1,400 new or about $2,000 for the Orange version, which is higher end. The heavy steel frame really helps mitigate recoil, plus the low profile slide, like they have in other CZ pistols like the CZ 75, makes it a very soft shooting gun. In the Shadow 2, regular 9 x 19 target rounds feel like .22 long rifle; it's amazing. I think that you could also use something like the CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical, because it also has the big, full dust cover, steel frame and low profile slide. It's pretty much just like the Shadow 2, but costs about half the price. They have one at a store near me for $750 cash price. I think the trigger in the Shadow 2 is far superior, but I haven't tried the SP-01 Tactical. CZ also has some awesome Limited Divison pistols too, like the Tactical Sport 2 or Tactical Sport Orange, and then they have their Open CZ Czechmate and Czechmate Parrot. The TS2 goes for about $1,500 and the Orange is about $1,900. Compared to a $3,000 Staccato or Wilson Combat, that's not bad. The Czechmate is about $3,300 and the Czechmate Parrot is about $3,800. I know, those prices seem outrageous, and I doubt if I could even trade my car for a Czechmate lol but comparatively, they are priced well. The similar Tanfoglio Open Division race gun costs $4,800 from the Ben Stoeger website, and I can't imagine that the Tanfoglio is any better than the Czechmate. I am pretty much a CZ fanboy, though. Ever since I held the Shadow 2 the first time a few years ago, I've loved that one. It's amazing how much more accurate and fast I can shoot with the Shadow 2! Sorry for the long comment. Have a good one.
For faster follow up shots, FIRSTLY use d right 9mm ammo; put compensator on ur pistol; put red dot; put that huge thumb rest; modify trigger to become xtra light; do aĺl & any modification on ur pistol; .....
If I might humbly point out the weapon hes using is fitted with a decent muzzle break (substantially reduces recoil on an already low recoiling/ caliber firearm) which aids greatly in keeping secondary/rapid fire follow up shots being placed well without to much need for concern with pedantic grip attention, and it also has a match trigger which reduces pull on the trigger from perhaps 3.5lbs factory to probably 1.5lbs which also aids greatly without concern to much on stance and grip. The optic hes using also eliminates front sight focus problems which is 90% of the battle in being accurate with pistols. It's easy to look the business when you have technology doing a fair bit of the work for you. Buy his set up, practice, and you wont have to worry nearly as much as hes saying on stance and grip. Cant be said for an out of the box standard pistol set up from factory.
Likely the stupidest TH-cam comment I've read for awhile. The guys he's competing against are running tuned Open guns as well. If you don't have fundamentals, you don't have shit.

Nice presentation Doug. Shame that one or two others from the old school, have jumped on the "Grip it as tightly as you can" bandwagon. I'm sure you know who I'm referring to.
The gun has absolutely nothing to do with it when you are a world class shooter. The reason the world class shooters use race guns is because they have maxed out the potential that a regular gun can reach. You have not, they have. You cannot reach .12 splits with your glock, they can. You cannot reach a 1 second bill drill with your glock, they can. You cannot reach a .5 second draw, they can. The reason they have the race gun is because there is a point where you outrun your gun's capabilities. Ben stoeger can shoot a glock 34 just as fast as a stacatto xc
Almost every gun made will out shoot any human its learning how to deal with problems and muscle memory that sets us apart, pay attention you may learn something
