If your engine is geting overheated (thermostat stuck closed) or is your engine not getting to working temperature 80-90Celsia (thermostat stuck opened), then is thermostat validation or replacement needed.

Just done mine today, had dropped all the coolant overnight. 1st attempt leaked at the new stat housing, I was cautious with the bolts. Took it off again , check it and tightened up more. There are steel spacers inside the bolt holes so pretty strong. My old stat had broken up inside the seal groove. Dropped the oil at the same time and stripped the sump threads.

I had problems with the sealing of the thermostat housing. Fluid was leaking, just noticed ity today as suddenly my heating failed and my dashboard showed 110 degrees wich was luckily really stable even under load so no sctusl overheating . Replaced arround 2 litres of coolant so i guess mostly the oil keept regulating the engines temperture.
I retightend the bolts for the thermostat by hand conservativly wich already stopped most of the leak before i replace the seal.
So what i actuslly wanted to ask is whats the max torque i can use on these bolts?

No. New thermostat has its own sealing rubber around.

ahoj,chcem sa opytat dovod vymeny termostatu v tvojom aute,preco si ho menil,mam totiz problem s mojim autom,hlavne teraz v zime,auto strasne pomaly kuri a mam podozrenie na zaseknuty termostat..
Diagnostika ukazala chybovy kod P0116 co je snimac,ten som vymenil ale problem pretrvava,jednym z moznych dovodov ma byt podla viacerych aj vadny termostat.

Ak je to diesel, tam naozaj trva kym sa agregat zohreje , pritom auto musi byt v zatazi. Ak je to benzin, tak pri zatazi by sa malo zohriat na tych aspon 60C ovela skor. Ak to nedosahuje cca 70C ani pri dlhodobej zatazi tak zaseknuty termostat v otvorenom stave , alebo netesniaci termostat moze byt naozaj problem. Mne ososbne sa auto uz pri teplote okolia 10C nezohrialo na prevadzkovu teplotu 80C ani po 50km. Netesnil termostat.

You can purge system before new valve is installed. Once is valve installed in system the coolant circuit is closed by that cold thermostat. So its hard to purge circuit with thermostat which is shutdown.
Thermostat opens coolant circuit only in time when temperature reach 80 Celzia.

Mikulas Tkac But how do I purge if later I have to change the thermostat? Is there a way to purge the circuit when the engine reaches optimal temperature and the thermostat starts to open?

Nope. Its not needed. When you have (during coolant or thermostat change) disconnected top and bottom (thick) hose incoming and outgoing from engine, then you just flush out engine & cooler & reservoir with pressured clean water as you see in video. It is enough. It''s not a rocket sience.

about 65-85 Celsius ; it should be same as for other type of engines

@@mihajlojovic983 you have asked what is operational temperature of engine. Not what temperature is for fully opened thermostat. ;-)
I say what I see on dashboard of car in case if all is working fine.

unknown unknown i replace water pump, thermostat, flush my system, i put g12 antifreez in 50% with demi water. In city when is trafic jam on my temerature gage is 90-95 celsius. My thermostat open on 91 on highway my temperature is consant 91. Yes my radiator fan working and turn on on 96-97 celsius
