Chip Detector is for metal bits in the engine or transmission oil. ( I was an engine man on Huey/Cobra/Loach in Vietnam).
I would like to see your RPM indications. There should be a switch on the collective that is rigged to control RPM between 6000 and 6600 engine output/transmission input. We called it the beep switch. Rotor max RPM is 345. Maybe that is not modeled in the sim. You need to check the battery voltage before starting, 24 volts minimum. Torque is a limiting factor and hot ambient air temperatures degrade performance.

Love that video. I was a door gunner on a Huey in 1969. I will definitely buy this.

The only thing it lacks compared to DCS is how the front panel vibrates when the torque is very high or very low, which DCS does very well.... but this is my favorite module now in MSFS and my favorite module in DCS , I love the HUEY.

The NVG Light selector is used when wearing Night Vision Goggles, has nothing to do with flying in a formation.

My mistake. I thought it was for identifying position. Thanks for the information!

I deleted DCS after flying this thing and that one back to back. They flew so similar, and with all of the mods I have for MSFS at this point, and my appetite for combat being so low these days, it made perfect since. I've been flying all over Washington, Idaho, and Montana and having an absolute blast.

This was what I was looking for. A DCS comparison. Sounds like it's a solid FM

At start-up, the soft "ticking" sound of the igniters to spark the fuel when introduced, used in connection with the wind-up of the starter motor. Initially we should hear the hi-pitched whine of the starter, as well as the ignitors "ticking". Jus say-n.

IFF is used with the transponder, IDENTIFIER FRIEND OR FOE and sends a special encoded signal to radar to identify you are a Friendly force.

As already mention Chip Detection is for metal pieces in the engine or transmission oil. It has separate detection for the main and tail rotor. It means that you damaged you engine or transmission by overstressing it. It's a feature in many aircraft with turbine engines (the Pilatus Porter for example) and has nothing to do with icing. 😉

dude your videos are bad assed full stop!!! funny story, this gorgeous aircraft just became avail. on marketplace (yes im one of those lowly xboxer's) and just friggin yesterday i said if anyone except Cap. Sim comes out with a uh-1, im buying it. ive just recently started buying/flying helo's in the sim and wow has it been a learning process. anyway, i bought it with just 3 reviews of a 5.0 which i never do but i said screw it... so thankfully i found a great review from you to ease my mind and i cant wait to get some time to really get in this thing and fly it. So thankful your vid's end up on youtube... wish i could do the patreon thing.

Taog's hangar has 2 other helicopters for sale too. The Alouette III which I own is very good too. And taogs hangar has a sa315b lama. Have not bought the lama yet but plan too.

Chip detectors are for warning that there are chips of metal in the transmission or tail rotor gearboxes and also the engine use a chip detector too.

Nice review. I'm gonna have to grab this! FYI - you have a bit of a copy/paste issue, as the description and therefore the chapters are for another video. Also FYI - Taog had at least one other payware heli, and that's the SA316B - Alouette III.

New MSFS simmer here but former Army UH-1H pilot in Vietnam. Does this software require any additional software or interface to run in MSFS 2020? Loved the video and that sound of the Huey brings back so many memories. I was almost bouncing in my seat to the sound, I closed my eyes and it took me into the “way-back machine” Loved it!

Not sure but i think the crew chief position is wrong, that is more of a black hawk position, should be at the back of the aircraft usually where one of the door gunners sit, still cool though it is on my must have list

Just got the bird today and I am still figuring out why the Master Caution light came on. Any idea? Well just keep pressing the reset switch for a couple of seconds. Volia!
Mind you I've flown this bird in DCS for ages and the handle on both FMs are very similar on casual takeoff/landings but in DCS I do a lot of combat harsh maneuvers (overspeed & overtorque 😮) so it's hard to compare the two in this exact situation.

I picked the Heuy up on release and i have not regretted it. It's such good fun to fly.
I also use beam head & eye Tracker and really do prefer using it, even over using my quest 2 vr headset and its own inbuilt track ir??

I've jumped, rappelled and fast roped from Hueys. I love that bird and will definitely get it. The one I had for FSX was great but this one seems beyond belief.
FTR, VRS = VORTEX Ring State, basically you're drilling a hole in the air.

i can see the weapon mounts but where are the weapons? Yeah id love to have a collective but i think they are way too expensive. Theres no budget or middle option available. You gotta go straight for the expensive ones. How hard is to make cheap one? I have never seen one from logitech or saitek and other budget to middle ground hotas and joystick makers...getting a virpil one or one of the other high end brands is too much for me plus is will have to figure out how to attach it ... well, somewhere. Heli simming would be more popular if there where cheaper options available.

With regards to the flight model, is there any actual ground effect modeled, like in DCS? Does it realistically weathervane in forward flight, or does it unrealistically force you to use constant application of the torque pedals?

    • @MrIanspeed
      @MrIanspeed 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I've been flying in high winds, it's a real handful until you get moment up. Hovering with a high tale wind will challenge the best of pilots, but turn it in to the wind and it's superb. So yes weathervane in forward flight and hover😊👍
