I went to look at verifying the files in the MS Store version yesterday and it warned that it would reset the game and career. As my game is running pretty well aside from bugs like engines cutting out for no good reason, I didn't want to do that.
For the Steam version, could clicking "verify integrity of game files" be enough? Just tried it, and it found 3 files that failed to validate, so it re-downloaded them and all files now successfully validate...
@@WmWQuickMD I just copied this from the AI response to your question (a fair question BTW) "To verify game files on Steam, open your Steam library, right-click on the game you want to check, select "Properties", then navigate to the "Local Files" tab and click "Verify integrity of game files" - Steam will scan and replace any corrupted or missing files". This is if you purchased it on Steam of course.
I am happy they want to offer free gifts....However....😊 I'd rather have it be where we could CHOOSE which aircraft (up to 4) we would like to have. For instance, in my case, I only purchased the Standard package and I'm certainly not going to be using all those aircrafts. Yet, I'd like to get 1 or 2 aircrafts from the premium WITHOUT spending another $30 or $40 or even more) and having 10 or 15 aircrafts that I am NOT interested in. Again that is my thought. Going with your mentioning why not full download. One thing I didn't hear you mention but I did read is, that they are thinking of allowing us to download specific areas that we fly or utilize the most. So, that can be a big help. Thank you for keeping us in the loop. Take care.
OverKill, wow were you right. My startup went from about 10 minutes to 2 minutes and 30 seconds. I repeated several times all with the same result. My game seemed to be running okay, just the loading was long. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for the video. I installed the sim a few days after launch, so I think I may not need to reinstall since I probably installed after the fix they put in. My sim works fine, good thing I did not try VR yet, I will wait after patch 3.
So based on this cloud crap, if I uninstall this mess, is it going to make me redo all my keybinds again? If I understand how this was supposed to be set up from the get go, then it should save them to the cloud right?
Indeed, very useful video! 👍👍Question: if I reinstall FS2024, will I have to redo my controllers' settings? Or are these saved in the cloud, and not only in the ...limitless SystemAppData wgs folder?
In a 2020 reinstall, you would not lose your controller settings. I don't know about 2024, but not in 2020. I reinstalled 2020 twice, did not lose any controller setttings.
I reinstalled twice today and I had to redo all of my bindings. I still have trouble getting the sim to load. It frequently stops in the 60% range. VERY Frustrating!
So basically we were sold a tech alpha with missing planes, no marketplace, half working ATC, and a terrible career mode. Even NeoFly is better for me anyway.
10:30 I agree with you that this should be an option, but putting all the files locally raises the concern about updates and patches. They can currently do a lot of corrections in-house that then are included in the normal streams. I witnessed this after 1.1.10.0 was released and Career Mode was borked. They disabled Career Mode on their end, made a fix, and then Career Mode was working again without us having to download another patch. If people had the game installed locally, a separate service would have to be set up to offer those updates as a download.
They only tested with 200k connections and anyone is surprised? They have watched Blizzard and EA do the same thing for YEARS. This launch made a WoW expansion launch look like a picnic. And we never got any free goodies out of that. These “freebies” while awesome were always baked into the cost of doing business.
This seems like a great idea for 13:56 new players. But I can tell the difference as far as controls. There’s a slight lag. I have 1g up and down fiber. There shouldn’t be any lag at all.
Thanks for the video! I recently built a PC for my 3d print farm in the garage, and I installed '24 on it as well as the 3d stuff. I have been getting blue screens periodically while running the sim. I hadn't ruled out a hardware issue, being a brand new build, but it looks like now I can! This is obviously a FS24 issue not my new build. You just saved me a shit ton of time! Thanks! Gonna re install the sim now.
If it helps usually I would think BSOD would be either drivers or RAM. A trick that I use is run a GPU benchmark software to put the load back on the hardware to rule out MSFS
Any news on the broken flaps on career mode? I'm gonna try the clean reinstall now. (The DHC Beaver, G36 bonanza, and taildragger cub, you can't use flaps, even when sitting still on the runway ready to take off you get a overspeed warning for flaps down. Makes earning credits, experience, and keeping reputation in A or above difficult since you're limited to the 172 missions and they're not always the most profitable. the Optica doesn't have flaps issues for me, but no employee missions pay well, I assume freelance will also have flaps issues.) I'm hoping at least. I'm trying to keep positive :(
Nice vid!! However you mentioned 1500Gb (1.5TB) at 9:37 ... this is incorrect as it's a 1000x more at 1.5PB (Peta Bytes). Not Tera Bytes. Installing the whole sim is simply not an option (would require a few hundred 2TB drives at your home).
Seb mentioned during the dev stream downloading all the assets (presumably NOT including the petabytes of bing data itself) would be about 1.5TB had they done 2024 the same way they did 2020. It did sound like they will make that possible but he doesn’t recommend doing it.
@@AceofSpades-nd3hy That sounds about right (and Overkill does say "base installation" several times). So all core code, all your aircraft, world 3D models (trees, plants, rocks, houses, bridges etc), sounds, common textures all that stuff.
1.5Tb. Space wise - not necessarily an issue. Access wise - HUGE issue when internet providers still enforcing data caps. Won't even go into how many days it would take with my less than optimal connection.
Don’t forget if you want to download the SIM to your hard drive they’ve stated several times that just the map data is petabytes in size so pretty much undoable
As i said in a comment the 3pb of data is just the SAME DATA that was streamed in 2020 so that part is fine. It's the 1.5tb of standard sim that we should be given the option to download.
Thank you, great video! Will my current bindings still be there when I reinstall? .... Never mind, just re-installed and everything but the graphics settings synced.
awesome video. Could you do a video on tweaking native and third party planes cruise speed and maybe horsepower? I was able to adjust the cruise speed on the free Cessna 206 but I did not have any success with other planes. I wanted to simulate a Cessna 210 for speed.

Yes I did the reinstall last night took only 20 minutes for me it was ok to do because I had not invested to much In them yet. Plus it remembered all my key and control bidings works good
Thanks! But what about all the device configurations? Wouldn't we have to go back through the painful and laborious task of setting them all up again? As far as I can see, there is no way to export/import them.

Unfortunately this did not work for me at all. MSFS 2024 was running reasonably well before; with minimal glitches/issues, no CTDs. I now cannot get it to run. CTD seconds after clicking start. All previous files/folders were confirmed to be cleared/removed. Install went great, but DOA. Will attempt verify/repair via Game Bar options and see what happens. I am running on a dedicated (MSFS only) i9-13900K, 64GB DDR5, RTX 4090, and Samsung 990 NVME drives, and 1Gig Ethernet. UPDATE: I'm going to chalk this up to MSFS 2024 servers still having "issues". I went through the uninstall & reinstall three times throughout the day. 3rd time it FINALLY installed and ran.
when it comes to the comunity folder im using an addon linker and keep all my files in a directory outside the community folder so if something goes wrong I'll just unlink addons until I get to the issue, plus it lowers the startup time of the sim coz I only activate the addons I'm gonna use that session
After multiple uninstalls and reinstalls, my load time to start MSFS 2024 is still pushing 20 minutes. Been that way since the beginning. The only workaround I've found is starting the sim without my internet connection. When it reaches an error indicator (30 seconds), I reconnect to the internet and in less than two minutes it's ready to go.
dude, something is dead-A$$ wrong. I would delete everything related to 2024, scan inside your registry too. do windows updates, BIOS update, Firmware updates, Chipset updates, do it ALL. Also make sure you are on Windows 11, yes I know, MSFS2020 did not play nice with Windows 11 but all of those issues are fixed. Disable your Anti-Virus before doing all of this and then go to your Windows Store (XBOX app) and install the product. You probably should reboot your modem/router/firewall as well BEFORE re-installing (re-downloading) --- This should only be done by qualified computer technicians - or those that stayed at a Holiday Inn Express the night before the attempt. Now re-install your Anti-Virus
Ever since the launch of 2025 I've had trouble launching 2020 today for the first time I've got a message can't sync with cloud do you want to play offline. Something strange is happening.
You are seeing only 2.5 minute load times? Seriously? I'm still seeing 22 minutes, even after multiple full re installs. That's even longer than my FS20 took with a 1.5Tb community folder attached. I too have 1.2Gb/s internet connection, which I have tested to see if it is working correctly - it is. *** UPDATE *** What ever was causing the extremely long startup times has been resolved with the latest patch which was released 12/10/24. My startup time is now an astonishing 1:35 (yep, under two minutes). Also, anything I'm about to say has anything to do with YOU and your comments. I understand you are just the messenger. But, B S to MS and Asobo on about 90% of the comments related to "why". First, the idea that the default planes are encrypted to protect the career mode - B S. Most, if not all, of those planes are non-Asobo built. They paid a license to use them and I'm positive the license was not with full "do what you want" approval. They are probably tracking how many times each plane is used so they can pay the creator accordingly each quarter, and they also want to control that any "issues" are not add-on or mod created. Also, notice in Market place it already says if you want additional skins they would like for you to pay $$. How can they enforce that request if we can just add a few files to our PC copies? The best way to protect that investment is to encrypt the files so they can not be changed or shared. Second, the idea that the system needs to be streamed because it is way too big to download onto your hard drive, major B S again. Yes, the entire global data is huge. But they very easily could break the world into sectors. You opt-in to download a sector. If you are flying a CE-172 in Chicago, there is no reason to have Tokyo also loading. As for the huge size, MS could offer to sell drives with that data that you could then transfer to your PC. But, they are not likely to want to do that because MS is under the impression that everyone in the world wants to have their products for FREE. They tried to do the same streaming concept with their Office products (talking about Office365 subscriptions as an example) but received a huge push-back. They could have made it a simple option to save the cache to your drive at a location that you chose in your settings. If you do not have a cache of that location, it will stream and save simultaneously, if you chose that option. The other part of the stream requirement is due to the Xbox compatibility requirement from MS. They need to understand that a PC version and a separate Xbox version is the better method of keeping the system optimized . Third, regarding the 200,000 test connections. When I worked in Enterprise IT, I ran into this issue with MS constantly. They way over state the capabilities of their technology, and then they push for others to assume that all stats are 100% continual operation, when they are actually peak performance only. They thought that they could push the data out faster than we could request it. Their "millions of FS20 users" were not connected simultaneously, and they failed to recognize how many people were going to be sitting at their screens on day1. I'm sure the reason the market place and the multi play systems were taken off-line were so they could use those networks to boost the primary systems until the surge subsided. Here's some news to MS/Asobo, if your product is worth anything, then don't assume that there will only be a surge, especially if the product must be streamed. If anything, the first week will be slower than the coming weeks as popularity spreads about the product. I'll stop there, for now. I have the same comments about most of the stuff you regurgitated from their press releases, but you get the point. I enjoy your channel and encourage you to keep up the great content. And again, my comments are in no way a shot at you but are directed at ASOBO and MS. My message to them is don't fill us with a bunch of sales crap when you know the issue is all about the way MS likes to protect their content and force uses to spend more $$ if they want to continue using their products. Some day MS will learn that treating their loyal customers this way will come back to bite them in the future.
The reinstall (Steam) went quick but didn't see a change in the nasty looking trees here and there and some of the buildings. Performance is the same. VR Pimax Crystal / 4090 / 64gb RAM, 78003dx, 1gig FIOS. Anyway, this was mentioned as a just in case something got messed up on the initial install. So reinstalling was quick and easy and worth it to me if only for the peace of mind the install didn't get borked somewhere from the day 1 "experience".
Cheers for the info. To be honest, I was having CTDs every flight, so I uninstalled and reinstalled, and the CTDs are now gone - fingers crossed. I added aircraft and add-ons one by one to see whether any of them would cause a CTD and none did, so I'm guessing the reinstall helped. On another point, I noted that you said you fly the TBM850 a lot. I love that aircraft, but try as I might, I can't get any switch sounds or engine noises on MSFS2024. Frustrating as hell.
As I understand it you will be able to download and save parts of the sim locally. But, if my memory don't fail me, the world is over 3 petabytes of data, and that understandably will not be possible to download. 😅 So it seems to by much misunderstanding out there.
Thanks for another very informative video, now is a good time to ask, if you reinstall, do you have to set up all your sim preferences, keyboard and controller settings again?
The ONLY way at this point for me to get this version of the sim is to allow a bigger install so bandwidth could be reduced significantly! I refuse to pay double my monthly rate just for 1 game! I don't need it for any other reason being out in the country away from urban hellscapes, LOLZ!
Thanks for this video! 🙂 Although I made all the steps you've recomended, at the Landing Challenges the Airbus 320 is not set up, At the start of the landing in case I make a take off preparation at the Reggio Calabria the plane behaves OK, but more or less all other cases (like Paro, Tegucigalpa, etc both engines work at full power, in spite the throttle levers position. The Cessna CJ4 engines are also set at full power no matter of the throttle levellers positions. The King Air 350, and the Cessna 208 Caravan have no reverse throttle, but thje TBM 930 reverse throttle works perfect. That was the situation before reintall as well, so I do not recognize any improvements related to these problems? Is there anybody who knows the solution?
Yeah after watching the stream and them saying to uninstall and reinstalling the game. Well when i did that just today it fixed a lot of my issues on xbox series x especially with rendering. I installed on launch day so i guess cause everything went so wrong i was playing my game with corrupted files. All in all yes uninstall and reinstall absolutely worked for me
I live and like to fly out of Wichita, KS. Right now, the visuals are better and much more accurate for the Air Capital of the world in the 2020 version than in 2024. Plus, right in the airport environment, there are many things missing. Also, a big pond at the approach end of RWY 19L, that doesn't exist in the real world! I also don't seem to have all the aircraft and features yet that were supposed to come with the Aviator edition? I haven't actually counted the aircraft, but I sure don't seem to have all of them.
i did not have a choice, i was forced to reinstall after the last update came out. after updating the sim wouldn't start at all no matter what I did so I reinstalled, its a good thing this sim installs and sets up extremely quickly
Lots of activity. Rough start, but its going to be a good sim. Ive completed two extremely successful airliner flights the past two days. Gate to gate, autopilot, ils etc

Agreed and just surprised the advice didn't extend to re-installing the OS to ensure a clean registry. Too many people out there will blindly follow "advice" like this.
I went to look at verifying the files in the MS Store version yesterday and it warned that it would reset the game and career. As my game is running pretty well aside from bugs like engines cutting out for no good reason, I didn't want to do that.
If i just readed this comment before reinstall...
I bought a brand new PC for it. Lol. Smooth as glass.
@@SwedeSpeeder This is not enough, we also have to move!
For the Steam version, could clicking "verify integrity of game files" be enough? Just tried it, and it found 3 files that failed to validate, so it re-downloaded them and all files now successfully validate...
Where do I find the "verify integrity of game files" clickspot? In MSFS2024 or ???
@@WmWQuickMD I just copied this from the AI response to your question (a fair question BTW) "To verify game files on Steam, open your Steam library, right-click on the game you want to check, select "Properties", then navigate to the "Local Files" tab and click "Verify integrity of game files" - Steam will scan and replace any corrupted or missing files". This is if you purchased it on Steam of course.
Hopefully they fix the PC 12 NGX. The cabin does not pressurize properly.
I am happy they want to offer free gifts....However....😊
I'd rather have it be where we could CHOOSE which aircraft (up to 4) we would like to have.
Take care.
Dude off the topic... hanging mic on your cap is brilliant :p
frankly spoken, this video convinced me to further wait until moving to 24
OverKill, wow were you right.
How to land autopilot like as 2020 in 2024 msfs
just tried the re-install...excellent results! Thank you!
So based on this cloud crap, if I uninstall this mess, is it going to make me redo all my keybinds again? If I understand how this was supposed to be set up from the get go, then it should save them to the cloud right?
the keybinds should be in the cloud, just like it was in 2020.
YES, keeps your log book hours too
Read the post from DonPardo above, he says you don't have to re-install
Indeed, very useful video! 👍👍Question: if I reinstall FS2024, will I have to redo my controllers' settings? Or are these saved in the cloud, and not only in the ...limitless SystemAppData wgs folder?
In a 2020 reinstall, you would not lose your controller settings. I don't know about 2024, but not in 2020. I reinstalled 2020 twice, did not lose any controller setttings.
I want to know that as well, really dont want to loose all the hrs I put in for the settings
I reinstalled twice today and I had to redo all of my bindings. I still have trouble getting the sim to load. It frequently stops in the 60% range. VERY Frustrating!
@@jimfrederich8852 That does suck, but I like how the controls bind in the new sim. Way easier than before. That's something
I bought a new rig two days ago and re-installed MSFS24 and all of my control bindings were still there.
So basically we were sold a tech alpha with missing planes, no marketplace, half working ATC, and a terrible career mode. Even NeoFly is better for me anyway.
and they refused to my reimbursement request.
First of all, thank you. The title of your video doesn't matter to me, and I'm sharing it with my scenery group. Continue the great work.
They only tested with 200k connections and anyone is surprised? They have watched Blizzard and EA do the same thing for YEARS. This launch made a WoW expansion launch look like a picnic. And we never got any free goodies out of that. These “freebies” while awesome were always baked into the cost of doing business.
I still get nightmares when I recall the WoW: Warlords of Draenor release 😕. MS2024 seemed like a walk in the park by comparison. 🙂
It was a CDN error, not a network load issue.
Awesome vid!! Thanks for all this info
I’ve had MSI afterburner for a few years, it is nice to know what is going on.
Is there any way to save the bindings so we do not have to "re-bind" after the re-install??
Any news on the broken flaps on career mode? I'm gonna try the clean reinstall now.
(The DHC Beaver, G36 bonanza, and taildragger cub, you can't use flaps, even when sitting still on the runway ready to take off you get a overspeed warning for flaps down. Makes earning credits, experience, and keeping reputation in A or above difficult since you're limited to the 172 missions and they're not always the most profitable. the Optica doesn't have flaps issues for me, but no employee missions pay well, I assume freelance will also have flaps issues.) I'm hoping at least. I'm trying to keep positive :(
Thank you for sharing this information. Very helpful.
Here working on the Flight Planner , amazing addition , every imaginable option , load your EFB , good to go
Very helpful video. Thanks.
Honestly the career mode will be successful if we can use aircrafts like Fenix or PMDG in the mode
Great video, thanks for the effort!
Many many thanks, the best comprehensive and Great helpswnd tips. 🎉
Thank you, great video! Will my current bindings still be there when I reinstall? .... Never mind, just re-installed and everything but the graphics settings synced.
Even after doing all of this i still get stuck at 97%
What about my career progress? And all my keybind? Will it be saved when re installed?
saved in cloud dont worry
awesome video. Could you do a video on tweaking native and third party planes cruise speed and maybe horsepower? I was able to adjust the cruise speed on the free Cessna 206 but I did not have any success with other planes. I wanted to simulate a Cessna 210 for speed.
Thanks for the video man!! Do you loose controls / hardware mapping if you re-install?? Re-binding everything would be a pain in the ass!!
Just like I did for 2020 I waited a few months & like I’ll do with 2024 then I’ll pay and install . This year I’ll probably buy it for Me for xmass .
As usual you gave a very very good description of all the issues that are going on with the new SIM That's why I subscribe to you because you are very very precise in your videos and I appreciate that very much question... Is Microsoft going to continue to support 2020? Now that 2024 is out
Yes I did the reinstall last night took only 20 minutes for me it was ok to do because I had not invested to much In them yet. Plus it remembered all my key and control bidings works good
Thanks for the info!
Very informative video, thanks.
What is on your head?? :)
Most users aren't geeks and dont have the skills to fiddle with files and folders. Reinstall should be a simple process.
I found out that 64GB of RAM is not enough RAM as 96GB is the sweet spot. Holy crap what a major improvement that was.
Never un-installed
Thanks! But what about all the device configurations? Wouldn't we have to go back through the painful and laborious task of setting them all up again? As far as I can see, there is no way to export/import them.
And there should be a simple "save settings to your pc". And the ability to load of course. How hard would that be ?
@@regwatson2017 After a full re-install, my control settings seem to have been saved to the cloud and synchronized when I started the reinstalled sim. So, it looks like there is no issue.
Same advice to reinstall for XBox series S/X?
Lights on windsocks would be awesome too…… 👀 haven’t been to a lot of airports in 2024 but most I have been in. Don’t have windsock lights at night.
I would download the entire thing if given the possibility.
I did this and the RAM usage jumped to 15GB. (before was 12GB) Thanks
Does reinatalling effect your career mode settings
As for your community folder change fix without altering a config ...uh someone figured that out on day one.
I downloaded from the store and 😂must have bought all copies of 2020. So clean PC. If I have a dot two, 2tb C: drive & dot two for the motherboard 1tb B: Drive from the motherboard, Can you play both Sims on the one machine? Granted I need to update my Ryzen(£300)😮 yep, CPU at a later date. What happened to your eye? Fighting game? in VR? Lol ❤️ 😆 🤣 😂 😹 Speaking of VR I bought a quest 3 and my nephew will not had it back, he's moved in and you wanna see the stuff in there 😅stone is mad, but good fun. Can this be 26:35 used with the quest, if i manage to get them back? P.S. I'm more confused now than I was before the video. 😉
My career mode is destroyed after getting to lvl 40
Shouldn't you be able to verify the installation through steam? Won't the patch fix any issues?
It was running smooth on my laptop, yesterday i deleted it and reinstalled again. Now its lagging so much
Is there a way to save all your controller/HOTAS bindings and copy them back into the new install?
We've already spent way too much time watching that loading screen.. we don't need to see it on repeat 😂
Ever since the launch of 2025 I've had trouble launching 2020 today for the first time I've got a message can't sync with cloud do you want to play offline.
Something strange is happening.
I don't have "packages/Windows.Limitless" folder
I ran a test. I freshly painted a wall and started MSFS 2024. The paint dried long before MSFS2024 loaded
You could have watched the paint drying movie. Saved you some work 😂
You are seeing only 2.5 minute load times?
I don’t need another aircraft to fly. I’d rather have a flyby view instead.
watch out when reinstalling... i did it and now, fenix doesnt detect any simulator installed...
I want the direct download option!
Microsoft will allow you to download the whole game only if you download it to floppy disks…probably about 1 billion needed😅
As I understand it you will be able to download and save parts of the sim locally. But, if my memory don't fail me, the world is over 3 petabytes of data, and that understandably will not be possible to download. 😅 So it seems to by much misunderstanding out there.
Will I retain my controller config after reinstalling?
Mine has been working great since day 2. Bugs yes, but performance is pretty nice
Great for you. 99% of others didn't work for another 2 days.
@@kiotee_nouw but does that mean we have to re-install? mine has worked fine since day 2
@@dabneyoffermein595 My guess is if you are working, you are good. I probably wouldn't reinstall

I don't need it for any other reason being out in the country away from urban hellscapes, LOLZ!
unable to find the live stream link you say that is listed below you say it at 3:38
Let us install our marketplace items.
How do you save your career profile? Already played 77 hours.
Isn't that data saved to your account?
If you want to dowload scenery just increase your cache size to 100Gb+ done!
I did that exactly 100gb lol. great minds think alike!
did a 500Gig rolling and the terrain still doesn't load in right in some places
i did not have a choice, i was forced to reinstall after the last update came out. after updating the sim wouldn't start at all no matter what I did so I reinstalled, its a good thing this sim installs and sets up extremely quickly
woah. You mean I gotta re do my Key Bindings??? Oh F that!
no
Lots of activity. Rough start, but its going to be a good sim. Ive completed two extremely successful airliner flights the past two days. Gate to gate, autopilot, ils etc
will it lose my settings and career mode
