    oh my goodness but you are a genius - 21 seconds in and I've got a loud whistle - thanks for actually demonstrating how to use it - the last video I watched just showed a man stick the whistle in his mouth and get a sound without showing how he did it - thanks!!!

    You saved my life ! Your explanation was so simple, demonstrative and precise, that I could not believe it when I succeed at the first try after watching your video ! (After hours and hours of sputering like an idiot, while reading how to whistle with this!) Thank you !

    This is a perfect tutorial! It helped me to understand this in five minutes flat. Otherwise I was struggling, making stupid noises with my whistle. Thank you so much, you’re the best!

    Joanne, watched your video and one other persons and made a huge difference in how fast I was able to whistle. actually, was able to whistle the first day. now, just putting tones together, which is the hard part.

    my brother once told me of some african drummers at covent garden , he said they were whistling like birds and it was amazing . im not very good at whistling and have always wanted a good whistle for when i drum on the street . hopefully this will do it . apologies to all the shepherds for misuse of the logan whistle

    • @ThebordercollieCoUk
      @ThebordercollieCoUk  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for sharing this and no, not misuse at all! I'm sure the whistle will sound amazing with the drum. Logan Whistles have actually been used in the orchestra of The Royal Opera House in London (for a ballet called The Wind) so anything goes :) They're used to communicate with trained birds of prey, to direct cranes and for a whole range of outdoor sports too as it's easy to create a 'language'. They've been perfected to be heard over extreme distances with herding dogs but they're for us all to enjoy.

    I know this is ages old, but I've just got my whistle and actually make some pretty good whistles but getting the right note consistently is a problem. My target is to play Silent Night by Christmas day and it's currently getting to the end of September!

    Hello, That sound is so good. What type of metal is this pipe made of. stainless steel or aluminium ? Or others ? Thanks for this video.

    • @ThebordercollieCoUk
      @ThebordercollieCoUk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The whistle being used in this video is our anodised aluminium Logan A1 whistle. We do also make whistles in solid brass and in stainless steel - they add more nuance to the tones and power when you need it.

    • @ThebordercollieCoUk
      @ThebordercollieCoUk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the whistle I'm using is the A1 anodised aluminium which is lightweight. We also offer stainless steel (Logan 304) and solid brass whistles (Supreme, Turbo or Ventura models) which can have even more power and nuance to their sounds

  • @LZabranskaa
    @LZabranskaa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I can’t manage how to do the sound at 0:11 and lower tones in general

    • @ThebordercollieCoUk
      @ThebordercollieCoUk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Blowing air up through the whistle creates higher sharper sounds and directing air down through the whistle creates the lower tones. Try whistling a tune without the whistle and notice how your tongue moves up and down. That automatically shifts the position of the whistle too so you can play tunes. Just think of something really familiar and try to whistle that

      make sure you are sealing the back of the whistle hard against your tongue (push the tab and push your tongue to the whistle) and then breathe from your chest. Try in front of a mirror to make sure you are not covering the slot with your lips or conversely holding it too far out of your mouth. Tilt the whistle up to exaggerate the space underneath to begin with so air can into the bottom hole too. And breathe!

    Day 71 and still not a peep from mine

    • @ThebordercollieCoUk
      @ThebordercollieCoUk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You may not be sealing the back for the whistle - the tongue pushes against the whistle and the whistle against the tongue to create the seal - maybe push it onto the tip of your tongue (holding the tab) to begin with. Then don't be afraid to draw the whistle into your mouth and hold it in place with your lips. And breathe from you chest. - like you're blowing up a balloon :)

      @@ThebordercollieCoUk I'm still trying......and failing! About half the time now I can get a single note but am unable to vary it at all.
