Man, I love the idea of “modernising” these coin routes making them feel more alive and flow well. Also 16:43, the realisation of the joke and then the perfectly cut scream actually made me giggle a little lmao
i really like this video idea a lot, and i think modernizing the coins is a fresh idea! personally, i always believed that Secret Coins should only be accessible after a player has beaten the level for first time to add to a level’s replayability, and have new mechanics in earlier levels be justified because the player will get introduced to them naturally if they don’t want to replay levels they’ve already beaten. however, i don’t think your modernizations are designed for most players in mind, and i personally believe that new mechanics should be kept to a minimum in older levels. as for certain coins such as Stereo Madness’ second coin, the fun of that coin for me is going against the path the game wants me to take and taking one that feels like a secret. sightreadability is also something that the earlier levels excel in, and incorporating arrows to show the player where to jump while objects are moving and using invisible jump orbs has always been a huge pet peeve of mine. still, these are just my opinions :) this video was still a good watch, and i love the concept and a couple modernizations you made (Stereo Madness’ new 3rd coin kicks ass). i hope my feedback finds you well!
17:36 bro in this coin you could put mini coins all over the ship part, so when you get 10, then the coin appears. Great video btw. Back on track *screams
Wow, unlike literally 99% of the GD content creators, your editing is actually fun and charming. Also, most of these are really great coin improvements, even if counterintuitive in some ways... Except for the Time Machine 2nd and 3rd coins, those ones can go burn in hell.
I feel like these coins fall under the trap of the can't let go coin. If you do the main route, the coin route is very distracting. (I guess every coin is like that, but the can't let go coin is worst)
I like the idea of new coin improvements, especially for remastered levels. Also, you should do the coin improvements for Geometry Dash Meltdown and Geometry Dash Subzero after the main game levels.
I have an idea for the Dry Out coin you fall to get. Instead of making the coin fall earlier, you could make the coin fall in front of the player at the spot where it’s obtained, such that if the player goes the normal way it falls out of their path, but if they take the hidden route they fall along with the coin and grab it on its way down.
these paths werent bad i liked them but you couldve maybe spiced it up a bit more if you used the spawn trigger n stuff to make stuff appear after you do smth specific instead of the paths being visible the whole time but overall pretty clever ideas!
Add indicators for invis orbs, otherwise finding out how to get the coin is super annoying and not fun at all. With just a few indicators, this would be cool
Sdslayer, i got a question: how did you get the secret coin in the editor at 0:23? i have mega hack so when i opened the editor, the secret coins aren't there.
A lot of these are great... But I've said it before elsewhere, and I'll say it here: Hiding a coin - or coin path - by making them semi-transparent isn't good design. At best, it doesn't give you the sense of "Oh, that's clever!" that a hidden coin normally would, and at worst, it's downright frustrating. You have to have some sort of visual tell to hint at the hidden elements - and not just a visual effect that only happens when passing through them.
See I think that applied to the subzero coins because the coins that were revealed after the fact had literally no hint at their path Whenever I obscured a coin like that I attempted to leave an obvious hint that you should atleast do *something* different (whether it's a toggle orb or key)
i feel like these would be good if they weren't the main levels like if these were just custom levels this would be cool but as a new player with no experience most of these dont make sense or use mechanics that haven't or aren't introduced
Hi! I enjoy your videos very much. can you tell me how you changed the user coin texture to the secret coin texture? I really want it, but can't find it :( it would be a huge help if you can share the way to do it or the link of the texture pack. Thank you, and keep up the good work!
