The single most brilliantly unpredictable death in horror history was Drew Barrymore in "Scream". When you're given top billing in a horror, you're usually given one of 2 roles. The villain or the final girl. Killing her off by the opening credits literally tells the viewer that no one is safe and that no one knows what is going to happen next. Pure brilliance by Wes Craven.

I agree. I was shocked to see Carrie give Miss Collins a basketball backboard. To be honest, though, the hallucinations of everyone laughing and the blood drop made her snap. Miss Collins was the mother figure Carrie needed, but not even she knew that Sue was only trying to warn Carrie.

Scream was also a brilliant move on Drew Barrymore’s part. Her career was on life support when she took that role. So daring to accept a character who dies in the first act. She could’ve thought it was beneath her and instead made the most of her 5 minutes on screen.

The 19 or 20-year-old Randy Meeks (played by Jamie Kennedy) was one of my several favorite male characters from the ‘Scream’ film franchise.
I really HATE Billy’s mom and Sam’s grandma Nancy Loomis for killing Randy over the insult to her “precious son” who was NOTHING but a serial killer in the first film installment, good thing Randy and other victims were avenged at the end of the 1997 sequel.

Can’t see Samuel L Jackson die in Deep Blue Sea without thinking of Dave Chapelles’s impression of him. “NO I CANT STOP YELLING! THIS IS HOW I TALK! HAVENT YOU SEEN MY MOVIES?!? DEEP BLUE SEA?!? THE FUCKIN’ SHARK ATE ME!” 😂😂😂

  • @michaelbraum77

Love Samuel L. Jackson's "unexpected" death in Deep Blue Sea! "Get these Mother F-ing Sharks Out Of This Mother F-ing Ocean!" Drew Barrymore's death in the first few minutes of Scream really did shock me! I'm sure that 99% of you can agree! It's weird the way the guy in Alien died. I keep seeing the person on an operating table with the creature busting out of his chest. I may need to pull out my DVDs and watch again. Maybe Aliens?
Haven't finished watching Get Out yet, and probably won't. Way too freaking weird! So, I know I'm not gonna watch Us. I LOVE Jordan Peele, but come on man! Make a comedy! Even a dark comedy will work! I miss Key and Peele!!!

Romero stated in the 1990 remake he wanted a few things from the original corrected including Ben's demise by having him become a zombie this time having them shoot him without choice that and Barbara becoming a badass and not useless like the original.

Fun Fact. Drew Barrymore was originally cast to play Sydney but she pulled out only 6 weeks before production started. Some people say it was for unknown reasons bur im oretry sure she admitted she liked the idea of dying in the film and of course we all know syd doesn't die so they gave the role to Neve Campbell

Saw the clips mostly :D I think Robert needed to die in The Omen. It's about the Antichrist, fighting against him.Samuel L Jacson death in Deep Blue Sea EXTREMELY shocking :D I jumped when watched few years ago :D Shining is legendary movie :D Perfect. I agree Drew's death is shocking and surprising. Billy's voice is terrifying :D Qiuiet Place death pretty disturbing. Mist ending extremely disturbing. Imagine this happens. Marylyn death in Psycho is epic. I think Allien is deserving number 1.Very scary. Even the actress was shocked and scared :) Great list in general :D

Killing Drew Barrymore in Scream was excellent film making. She was easily the most famous actor in the cast so no one expected her to be killed in the opening act. Amazing! That being said, the final scene of The Mist is easily the most emotional unexpected deaths in film history. The death at the end of Night of the Living Dead would be higher on the list if the movie came out later. It suffers from being too early in Hollywood. We hadn't yet been conditioned to the idea of the surviving hero at the end of a horror movie.

Sue Snell's death was probably the most insulting death in horror movie history. You take a legacy character who is killed accidentally and there's no reason Rachel ever even knew she was there. She might as well have died breaking her neck while walking to the 7-11 at the time.
