What I like about Ready or Not’s ending is now Le Bail acknowledges Grace’s victory. He may not have gotten his sacrifice, but he saw Grace was a good player of his game.
I think “Let The Right One In” should be on the list. That pool sequence and then the scene from the train telling us that this is not the end of the story.
Saw has one of my absolute favourite horror movie endings. It never gets old. I would personally add The Borderlands. Still such an underrated movie, imo.
I love most of Hereditary, but I actually hated the ending. Ari Aster built this great slow-burn atmospheric horror, leaving you unsure whether it was cult horror or mental illness, or one as a metaphor for the other. Then the last few minutes hit you over the head with it just being the cult. It makes the father look like an oblivious idiot in retrospect, and keeping the ending ambiguous would've made a far better movie.
the first time I saw The Decent I saw the ending where she was still in the cave. I remember when I saw it later with the other ending I was so confused by it, I thought "did I dream the other ending" lol
I've never thought the Quiet Place ending was actually any good. John Krasinski could have distracted the alien in a hundred different ways and without sacrificing himself.

The original ending of Get Out is extremely tragic and depressing where instead of his friend being in the car, it's the police and he's sent to prison. However it was thought to be too depressing so thankfully it was changed to a happier ending.
The Ruins - This movie did a lot with only a little, The Cursed Ruins, The Murderous Villagers trying to contain them, the woman who thinks she escaped but (In an Alternative Ending) might've taken The Ruins with her.
I remember watching the first one with my girlfriend at the time a bursting into laughter when the Ouija board catches fire, she had gasped and was super mad I didn't like it I honestly can't believe they made like 10 of them
'It Follows' was FANTASTIC!! Any time you can take a plot as absurd as a sexually transmitted demon (STD ironically) yet still direct it in a way that's ridiculously scary & entertaining, you've got a classic. Everything from the actors/actresses who played their roles perfectly, the plot twists, oh, & ESPECIALLY the score which gives it this retro early 1980's feel was just amazing!! 👍👍, A MUST SEE!!!
I know you might hate me but I love the idea but I hated the movie. For me it was so boring and I could never tell what time period they were supposed to be in. It seemed like the 80s but one of the girls had a compact that looked like an iPhone. IDk great idea but really didn’t care for it. A lot of my friends who grew up in the 80s agree. I’m glad you liked it, but I’d rather watch a bad Nightmare on Elm Street any day.

Ready or Not has an amazing ending! The whole family ends up being blown up and sent to hell. Whereas Grace takes off her wedding ring and watches as the man she loved also blown up and sent right to hell with devil worshiping family.
i'm glad to one of my fave series The Ring made it onto the list. I can't handle much horror flicks due to getting scared to easily. But whenever they involve more of a mystery story like The Ring, those I can handle.
The ending to The Skeleton Key REALLY got to me the first time I watched it. Knowing that if the main character didn't mess around with the magic the antagonist was using against her, she would be okay, but she did and ended up in a pretty dour ending. The ending to Midsommar was also intense, but at the same time, seems like a good ending for the main character: She's essentially been accepted as one of the cult, and is now in a place where she's actually happy. Now, as for her sacrificed boyfriend sewn into the bear pelt, well...

Lees sacrifice to save his children in A Quiet Placw breaks my heart everytime...the others ended is still one of thr best. When Grace explains why she killed her children after finding out her husband was killed in the war. The babadook is a top 5 horror film for me. The descent is so damn good. Wish they wouldve kept the original ending of Sarah not escaping the creatures even though I liked part 2 when her & juno reconcile. Jigsaw saying Game over for the first time still gives me chills. Get out is a horror masterpiece
Insidious should have been on this list! Elise taking a picture of Josh right at the end and seeing him having been taken over fully was brilliant, especially the facial reactions of both actors
The Saw franchise has fallen way off since the original which kinda casts a shadow over how good it really was. The Mist is the greatest horror movie ending of all time, but Saw is a close second
I absolutely agree with your list with the exception of A cabin in the woods, I found that movie to be a steaming pile of stupid and lost time I'll never get back.
cabin in the woods was one of the least scary movies ive ever seen. i get a lot of people like the narrative but even then no part of it had any parts that were scary or increased heart rate. Also; get out was good but i would not put it before US. Us was way scarier.

The Mist ending was so tragic. David’s face at the end was the most gutting and unforgettable scene! Thomas Janes performance was outstanding!
I found that ending so disturbing, it made me sick. I wasn’t scared, just😢 utterly depressed.

Get Out - Chris killing each of them was so satisfying, especially when they almost sent him back to The Sunken Place.
What made The Descent's and Saw's ending so damn good was the music more than anything.

It follows was filmed beautifully.
It wasn't scary, and tbh I just found more disturbing. I was utterly disgusted by reasons I can't remember.
The babadook was incredible because it shows that we all have personal issues inside of us that we have to overcome with our emotions

Except for maybe John Carpenter's The Thing, The Mist has my favorite horror movie ending. I've never seen or felt despair from a movie like that one.
The Thing is definitely one of my favorite movies with a classic ending.

The end of The Orphanage (2007) is much better than Insidious. Few horror movies have such tragic or beautiful endings.
