  • Another successful attempt at slicing some time off my personal record which stood at 17:31 (achieved last week) This was a great seed and a great, well practised player could have got an insane time on this game. I'll keep going at this and aim for sub 10 minutes, and who knows, in the process maybe I'll even knock Geography challenges off the 5th spot of the geotips leaderboard with a sub 7:16.

This episode is so crazy. The first one in Shubenacadie, NS is like 15 min from where I grew up. Where you see the church, I used to eat pizza and shop at the Golden star convenience store. Right there is where Gabriel Wortman gunned down Heidi Stevenson and Joey Weber during the massacre here. That's grim, but very cool to see it here.

I grew up a block from the corner of Conley Rd. and Kitchen Ave in Shubie. If you continued up the hill instead of down the hill to the #2, where you asked "what is that", (that's a Tinsmith shop actually, the oldest one still in existence before it was converted into a museum), would be the corner of Conley Rd. and Tulley Ave, the street I lived on for over 20 years.
Shubenacadie is nicknamed Shubie by the locals. The Shubie River, and Shubie Park in Dartmouth all use the shortened nickname of Shubie instead of Shubenacadie.
I live elsewhere in the province now, but I don't think you'll ever randomly get as close to my house as you did in this video.

Great round, especially impressive that you found the place on Gotland after starting so far up north. One telltale sign that told me from the start that it was the south was the old time windmill that you swooshed by, they only exist in the south of Sweden (reservations for some rare exception). The islands - Öland and Gotland, look quite northern, maybe because they're subject to the open sea

I've noticed that every time I'm in Sweden or Finland I'm always much further south in the country than I think I am. It's true that the trees and everything look like you are very far north (which I guess you are in the global scheme of things) but you're often midway down Sweden or near the southern part of Finland despite that. I think when you're actually very far north in either country you wouldn't see any deciduous trees really like there were in this round, it's just all pine trees up there.

  • @pulykamell

A hint for the US -- and you probably know this by now, is that our highway numbering system for national routes (number on a white shield) and interstates (blue numbers -- equivalent of your motorways) follow a grid. Blue signs (interstates) go low to high from west to east (so I-5 will be on the west coast; I-95 will be on the east). Even numbers go low to high from south to north, so I-10 will be on the south and I-90 will be up north.) US Routes (white sign on shield) flip this: US 1 is on the east coast. US 101 is on the Pacific (west coast.) US 2 is on the north; US 90 is on the south. There may be stretches where they go opposite of their direction as they twist around the US, but that should get you in the general area of the US where you are. And if you see a 3-digit US or Instate like 355, it usually means it will, at some point, connect with the 2-digit road at some point, but it may run in any direction. It's basically an offshoot or connecting road.
